And They Complain About Bush and Iraq...

A recent email I received is quoted below. With all the brouhaha currently circulating in Washington and in the media, it might be very relevant to consider the following:

Facts NOT Spin

Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That's just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
have started this war, state the following:

a. FDR led us into World War II.

b. Germany never attacked
us; Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 112,500 per year.

c. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 18,334 per year.

d. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.

Vietnam never attacked us.

e. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.

From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost .an average of 5,800 per year.

f. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.

Bosnia never attacked us.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

Those who are complaining about how long the war is taking.
But It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB!
The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.

But Wait . there's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Monday, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive
impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):

"How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):

"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took my tie off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day...
to a veteran's hospital and look those men ...
with their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee...
and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags.
You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember ..
During WW.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA.
Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.

It might not be a bad idea to keep this circulating.

Hi Christine!

It's nice to see facts instead of the fiction the media presents to the American public.

My pastor just returned from Israel. He said they had a wonderful time, no problems. A couple of soldiers in Iraq told us the people continually come up to them, thanking them for being there. When was the last time you saw that on the networks and cable TV stations?

By the way, my pastor said news coverage by major U.S. outlets in Israel is even worse than it is here if you can imagine that!

Blessings,
Susan

Maureen,

I am too tired to respond to your entire post right now. However, I cannot let your comment about Israel "murdering Christ" stand.

Note these verses:

Jhn 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

Jhn 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

These verses tell us that Jesus laid his life down WILLINGLY, and of his own accord. He could have called legions of angels to rescue himself from that cross. He choose to die for our sins so that we could be reconciled to God the Father.

If you choose to blame anyone, Maureen, guess what? You would need to blame yourself! You would also need to blame me! You would also need to blame EVERY SINNER (and that's EVERYONE - remember - all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God) that ever walked the face of the earth!

I will get to the rest of your post tomorrow.

One more thing. When you perceive and speak of others, such as myself, at your blog as a 'false prophet', in reality, perhaps you should first look into the mirror.

I take what I do, say and post as a Christian believer very seriously. True believers with the Holy Spirit of God indwelling them know that the Spirit would not lead them to do, say or write in a way that is contrary to the Bible. God's Word is perfect, but I am not. Because we are all human and imperfect, we have the standard of God's Perfect Word in the Bible to hold us all accountable!

I have friends here who are also Christians and they help to keep me accountable in what I write. Even then, when rebuked by a Christian friend, it is done through love. When I make a mistake, I admit it and correct it. However, what I see happening at your blog is worse (IMO) than any mistake or misstep that I may have done here. What I see is you tearing down others rather than lifting them up. The Bible tells us to encourage one another in Christ. This is as it should be when one is a fellow Christian believer.

It is the accuser of our souls who does the opposite. This is the typical ploy of the Enemy of our souls. He comes along and twists Scripture; mocks and belittles the true followers of Christ. Are you getting the picture here or do I need to be more direct?

When a person comes along and shares Bible verses, but does not share any love for fellow believers, something is wrong. Perhaps the following verse applies to you:

1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

I pray that you will examine your motives here and at your own blog. If your motives are pure and of God, then you are welcome to continue posting. I will then take it to mean that perhaps you might be new in the body of Christ and need much more Bible study.

If your motives are only to steal, kill the witness of others, and/or destroy their walk with Jesus Christ then I pray that in the name of Jesus Christ you are sent away. You and your minions have no power here.

Christine,
Good post and good reply. In my opinion, the media gives this war a negative slant because we are living in a time where the desire for "world peace" is evidence of what's to come. The Bible tells us where we are headed and what will take place before Christ returns. The emphasis will be on peace. And it's not the peace that can only come from God, but a false peace that is accepting of everyone and everything. Are we not seeing evidence of this very thing, more strongly than ever, during this Christmas season? Yes, I said CHRISTMAS season - not holiday. I keep hearing and reading how businesses have to be politically correct and are holding meetings to tell their employees they are no longer allowed to tell the customer, Merry Christmas. They now have to say Happy Holidays, so as to not offend anyone of a different faith. This makes the hair stand on the back of my neck! We must not, for any reason, take Christ out of Christmas. We allow people from other countries to come over here and then allow them to dictate how we live. If they are offended by Christianity, then go home. No one forces them to go to a Christian church, but they have no right to prevent us from living our faith. But once again, this is just one more evidence of how crafty satan is. He uses anything and everything he can to draw us away from Christ.

And about the war; talk to any soldier who comes back and see if they agree with the media. Everyone I have heard of says that the media does not portray what's really going on at all. How sad!

ok - I just felt the need to get that off my chest. :)

Hey Jojo!

Good to see you back here and posting your wonderful words of wisdom! I pray that you and your family are doing well.

You said: "The Bible tells us where we are headed and what will take place before Christ returns. The emphasis will be on peace. And it's not the peace that can only come from God, but a false peace that is accepting of everyone and everything."

Only when the Prince of Peace DOES return will be have that genuine peace that only He can bring!

Jojo: "But once again, this is just one more evidence of how crafty satan is. He uses anything and everything he can to draw us away from Christ."

So true! And, the only way we can recognize the deceptions of satan is to read and study the Bible, for a time is coming where "even the elect" could be deceived...if that were possible. But Scripture tells us that the faithful remnant will not be deceived!

Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if [it were] possible, even the elect.

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
