What matters is that our enemy attempted to take our military on in a frontal assault. In the desert, which is ideal for mechanized units to operate in. No wonder the attrition rate is much to high for the terrorist army. It has forced them to scale down the effort in Iraq and re-deploy much of their assets elsewhere.

I agree: The war in Iraq is not over, by any means.

I guess we just have to go over to the stragetic defensive and wait until our enemies hit us with nuclear weapons. Then we can go in and finish it.

Stragetic withdrawal is used to save your forces after a decisive defeat. It allows them to live to fight another day. The U.S. has not had that reversal. Yet our enemy has.

Why would we EVER want to change this?joe six-packhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09712147932436398237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12391603.post-79967041401910753912008-10-16T16:52:00.000-07:002008-10-16T16:52:00.000-07:00"further, there is no evidence that there was trut..."further, there is no evidence that there was truth in ANY of the multiple reasons given by the administration to justify the invasion regardless of the talking heads on radio - just see both bipartisan reports."

That's right. Don't even worry about the 500 tons of yellow-cake uranium that were just removed from Iraq. And ignore the translated documents that show that Saddam was providing safe haven to Al Queda terrorists (note - I am not claiming he had any hand in planning or executing 9/11; just that he was providing aid and haven to terrorists). And don't pay any attention to all of the kickback money that came went to UN officials from the oil for food program while the inspectors were blocked. Nope. Nothing wrong here...

One of the problems with liberals is that they repeat their lies so often that they start to believe them themselves. I'm just waiting for Obama to announce that we have always been at war with Oceana.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11769241624759010694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12391603.post-60880750302183529422008-10-16T12:59:00.000-07:002008-10-16T12:59:00.000-07:00this is a simplistic view, christine. i will give...this is a simplistic view, christine. i will give you the benefit of the doubt that you believe that our president acted in both our country's and the iraqi's best interests. but the fact remains that america has a higher bar set for itself than the rest of the world, and preemptive war is below that bar. further, there is no evidence that there was truth in ANY of the multiple reasons given by the administration to justify the invasion regardless of the talking heads on radio - just see both bipartisan reports.

the surge was a good plan, but the surge was only executed when the country and the anti-war opposition forced our inept president to change a failing strategy.

it wasn't just that 'mistakes were made early on' christine; stop trying to rewrite history. saying the same thing over and over does not make it true.

mike is more handsome than brad pitt.
mike is more handsome than brad pitt.
mike is more handsome than brad pitt.

see?

further, we are far from out of iraq - don't you think it's a little early to be thinking we can look backwards and conclude anyone or any plan has been 'vindicated'?

and, to add to the problem going forward, our actions have allowed the russian bear to wake up and feel that it is justified to begin reassembling its cold war aresenal as well as the eastern bloc countries it oppressed for so many years. what is our reaction going to be: you shouldn't be invading countries without provocation? ha - that will go a long way.

i'm hoping that at some point you will come to the recgnition that there is not one easy side to any of these issues, and that people who see sides other than yours are not stupid, unamerican, or without valid views.

mike ruckerspud tooleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09921322553025339949noreply@blogger.com
