It is raining here...Dear Susan,

Happy Thanksgiving! It is raining here in Southern CA, but that's O.K. - we need it!

Yes. We cannot ever forget that we have the freedoms that so many in our world today do not (unfortunately) enjoy. The most important of which is the freedom to worship Jesus Christ freely and read God's Word without fear of oppression for doing so.

Praising God right along with you - and thankful to Him for all he has given us!

Much love,
ChristineChristinewjchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18434229284833642438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12391603.post-75498095683232542352008-11-27T07:41:00.000-08:002008-11-27T07:41:00.000-08:00Dear Christine--Praise God we are free in America ...Dear Christine--

Praise God we are free in America to read the Bible! I am thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your readers. Much love from the East coast in South Carolina to the West coast in California in this mighty country that has many believers. Amen. I'm so glad that the post...Hi Mike,

Well thank you! I'm so glad that the post "spoke" to you.

Yes. I hear ya about the "we're puppets on a string" when it comes to everything that the government is currently doing - with many people objecting to how they are using our tax money to do it. Many people feel the same way you do. We shake our heads and wonder what ever happened to our beloved America.

*sigh*

Those in charge don't seem to be making the correct decisions these days. The bailouts are causing question in almost everyone's mind! Who chooses where the money goes? What is it really being used for? Is it necessary? Is it helping the economy or lining the pockets of evil financiers (like George Soros). It makes me sick - but I can't dwell on it.

That is when I "cling to my faith in Jesus and read the Bible." And reading books that encourage - like Max Lucado's helps too.

I highly recommend "Traveling Light." I am reading it for the third time - it's that good, helpful, calming and encouraging!

Happy Thanksgiving Mike.Christinewjchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18434229284833642438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12391603.post-88720265829503138462008-11-26T05:28:00.000-08:002008-11-26T05:28:00.000-08:00Hi Neil,Thanks so much! Glad you liked the post.H...Hi Neil,

Thanks so much! Glad you liked the post.

Heh heh - that is a great "Monk" line!

The line about Jesus in Forrest Gump happens in the scene where Lt. Dan talks about "thats all those cripples down at the VA talk about...Jesus this, and Jesus that."

Pharaphrased here: 'God is listening, but I have to help myself. Well kiss my crippled a** - God is listening? They tell me that one day I will get to walk in the kingdom of heaven. Did you get that Gump? "Walk" in the kingdom.'

Something like that.

I love that movie. It has everything in it, including even redemption found in a man (Lt. Dan) who formerly cursed at, and shook his fists at God during a hurricane storm.

Recall how Lt. Dan finally tells Gump, "thanks for saving my life." Gump then narrates, "He made his peace with God."

Thanks so much for your kind encouragement - it means a lot to me! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family too Neil!Christinewjchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18434229284833642438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12391603.post-77366278009388850652008-11-25T15:52:00.000-08:002008-11-25T15:52:00.000-08:00that was a nice piece, christine. i was sitting i...that was a nice piece, christine. i was sitting in my car today thinking about how close our country is to ... to ... to what? i don't even know the word to use. and it was a helpless, hopeless feeling - that we're the puppets at the ends of the strings.

it helps to remember occasionally that saving the world isn't our job...spud tooleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09921322553025339949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12391603.post-20254640493428260442008-11-25T15:26:00.000-08:002008-11-25T15:26:00.000-08:00So many great references and themes here!My family...So many great references and themes here!

My family enjoys Monk and the theme song. I think my favorite line from the show is when Monk stands on a chair to hide from a snake and someone asks, "Aren't you afraid of heights?" Monk yells, "Snakes trump heights!"

We just watched Forrest Gump and I missed that line about Jesus! Wish I would have caught that.

And Praise You in This Storm is great, too!

Happy Thanksgiving, Christine. Thanks for all you do for the kingdom with your blogging and other pursuits.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
