Palin's Speech Rocked the RNC!

Vice Presidential Nominee, Governor Sarah Palin (R) of Alaska gave a speech last night that absolutely rocked the Republican National Convention! I was so excited about it that when I awoke at 3:00 a.m. I didn't want to go back to bed! So I watched the re-run!

Earlier, while viewing the live broadcast I took a moment to take our puggle dog out in the back yard. I had previously missed the part where Palin mentioned "the removal of the styrofoam Greek Columns" at the DNC last week. Hilarious!

If you missed it, or just want to view it again, my friend Stacy over at Active Christian Media has the video up at her blog.

Prior to Palin's speech, Ann Coulter wrote a great column over at Human Events entitled The Best Man Turned Out to be a Woman.

Ha!

I'm sure that the Obama Camp and Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC don't agree.

My son was busy switching around to the other cable stations after the speech and saw Mitchell discussing Palin's speech in an interview with Rudy Guiliani. He told me that he totally understands why I don't watch that cable station. The people over there had NOTHING good to say about Palin! Good thing Rudy was there to hit back against their smears and defend the Governor.

What are your thoughts about her speech?

Please share any articles or blog posts that you have found in the comment section. I will be updating this post throughout the day.

Palin had so many great lines in her speech. I am still trying to decide which one was my favorite!

Way to go Sarah!!

it certainly made good political theatre. she's a very charming woman, and mccain hit a home run in picking her. i even mentioned on my blog that i wish the ticket was obama-palin.

it remains to be seen if the public will take the pacifier of quick quips and sarcasm, slap each other on the back, and laugh a bit before they get back to realizing what a mess the country is in, and how this government has lied to us and taken the country near ruin and bankruptcy.

i like her spunk. she needs to get in and try to take the government back from the power brokers and lobbyists and oil men and big business who are sucking the life out of america. as she did in alaska, she needs to start with her own party.

i shake my head and chuckle, christine, about how you, and matt, and mark, and gary have always gang-tackled me about 'absolute truth,' and yet you seem to be ok with the good, clean fun of bald-faced lying in the political arena.

i took a quiz at a website yesterday - a bunch of questions on issues and then it offered who i should vote for. it came back 52% obama, 48% mccain, and said, 'you apparently aren't happy with either candidate.'

pegged me pretty good. so we're left with having to choose more of the same, and take america toward being a 3rd world imperialist land of haves and have-nots, or gamble that throwing a new wrench into the gears just might be what we need.

i suppose i could just run myself ... can i count on your vote? :)

Palin and Worldviews at CultureWatch

Mike,

You do realize that Obama and Palin have COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORLDVIEWS...don't you? He would NEVER select her! In fact, he refused to choose Hillary as his V.P. running mate - even though she agrees with almost everything in his own worldview.

Go read the blog post over at CultureWatch. It is truly excellent and points out why the rabid left is so incensed and enraged about Palin as McCain's V.P. pick.

Mike wrote, "i shake my head and chuckle, christine, about how you, and matt, and mark, and gary have always gang-tackled me about 'absolute truth,' and yet you seem to be ok with the good, clean fun of bald-faced lying in the political arena.

If you are looking for a kind of perfect utopia here on earth with perfect people and perfect government - good luck with that! I don't know what you mean by "bald-faced lying in the political arena" - unless you are talking about the Obama/Biden ticket!

We are imperfect people, Mike. I don't agree with everything about McCain. The lack of mention of the illegal immigrant issue annoys me. However, the direction that McCain/Palin will take this nation is far better than the Dem ticket worldview. That fact alone makes this election more important than any election in our history! I know. I have said that about the 2000 and 2004 presidential races, too. But every four years, I see the Dem nominee selection as the polar opposite of the Christian and Biblical Worldview that I adhere to. This time, Obama is so far left (and has way too many corrupt allies) that it astounds me!!

I too watched the speech last night. It is so sad, however, that whoever wrote Palin's speech didn't do some fact checking. This article came out this morning from the Associated Press: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h4Os_NvbBurz0R8IejrDDj-4sRlAD92VL7KG0

And, of course, we all know what Peggy Noonan thinks about Palin. She better make sure the microphone is off the next time she wants to tell the truth. ;)

Christinewjc said...

That's it David? That's all you've got?

Quite lame...to say the least!

Go count the whopping amount of lies, deceit, illegal actions and cover-ups, associations with rogue characters etc. of Obama in the 57 posts I have done about him here!

Then we'll talk...

David said...

So, you aren't going to even bother trying to refute the article or what Noonan said? For some reason I'm not surprised.

Matt W. said...

David,
If we spend all our time trying to refute the leftist hit pieces, we won't get anything else done, which, I understand, is what they want, but it clearly doesn't do much for us as Republicans. The Obama Campaign has proven time and again that when the facts are not on their side, they are more than willing to lie, and so do their attack dogs in the media.

Christine,
That was a tremendous speech, wasn't it. I posted the text at my blog, in case anyone wants to read it. I am excited, and I'm waiting for my McCain/Palin yard sign, bumperstickers, hat, and keychain to get here in the mail.

It is going to be a long hard fight, but by picking Palin, McCain has assured that Conservatives like myself are going to be in it with him.

In '04 my dad voted for some also-ran because he wasn't happy with Bush, and of course would never have voted for Kerry. If dad were still with us, he wouldn't be any happier with McCain, but after Palin's speech last night, I have no doubt he would vote for McCain/Palin '08.

Elect McCain/Palin '08!!

you don't want to hear what i'm gonna say, but i'm gonna say it anyway: the reason you keep finding yourself in this most-critical-election-in-history scenario is because that's exactly what they want you to think. preying on the fears of the common people is a tactic as old as time itself. most recently in memory they've used it to suck us into everything around this 'war on terror.' the dems have used it, too: 'he's going to end your medicare and social security!'

hell - pun intended - they all learned it from the church - "if you don't do such and such you're going to burn FOREVER!!!!".

like solomon said, there's nothing new under the sun. we are who we've always been.

and that's our greatest shortcoming...

Thanks for the plug Christine :) It was an AWESOME speech - I watched it over and over. I fear tonight's speech may be a dud in comparison ....I hope not.

David, David, David...when are you going to learn these people are not concerned with facts...they simple don't matter when you have a VP candidate that is pro-life and "born again christian".

I encourage you to "Go count the whopping amount of lies, deceit, illegal actions and cover-ups, associations with rogue characters etc. of Obama in the 57 posts I have done about him here!"

You will find that O'bama is a radical muslim, schooled in a madrassa, who won't recite the pledge of allegiance, sworn into office on the Quran, who locks his real grandmother in a closet, while Hugo Chaves funds his presidential campaign. Oh, and he vacations in "exotic" Hawaii because of the media saturation, certainly not to visit his family."

Like I said David, don't you concern yourself with the facts. They're just annoying.

Whoops, gotta go! Any second now, the good gay reverand DL Foster (or is it ex-gay...I'm part of that "Culture of Confusion" 'ya know, so forgive me) will be along to tell me in another "brilliant" statement to "shaddup".

Matt W. said...

John,
Isn't the burden of proof on the accuser? Why should we respond to baseless accusations just because someone put "Fact:" in front of it?

Example:
Fact: People who drive red cars are predisposed to be bank robbers.

Naturally you're not going to believe that without supporting proof, nor is it your job to refute it. It's just a statement, with no more credibility than the stuff in the article that David linked.

As to the Obama stuff that you listed, if you feel that those things are baseless, then you would naturally not feel the need to present arguments against them, unless there was some level of proof offered in support. Just making a statement is meaningless.

For my part, I do care about facts, a great deal, but no, I don't feel the need to offer a defense against a leftist hit piece. The propaganda parade of the media is simply not worth my time.

Christinewjc said...

Tamela!

I must have missed that part about Obama "holding back the waters and healing the earth"...now THAT'S funny!

Isn't it amazing how the political left mocks and makes fun of conservatives almost every day - especially on late night T.V.? Yet, when a conservative has a sense of humor while pointing out the elitism of our opponents, they get all bent out of shape?

They are worried. Scared that McCain/Palin will win in November. My opinion? That's a good thing!

Christinewjc said...

David,

I don't know what has happened to Peggy Noonan. Maybe she's going through "the change" and needs to start taking Estroven?

Talking out of both sides of her mouth is a typical, liberal leftist thing to do. If she claims to be a Republican, then she's in the RINO camp. If not, then we know why she joins "both ways Barack" in her political jargon.

Christinewjc said...

Matt,

I think it might be interesting to see how many Hillary supporters plan to vote for the McCain/Palin ticket. Opinions and polls seem to be all over the place on that one.

Some women will vote because of Palin - even though they may not agree with her pro-life stance.

Interesting.

I think that they may be so angry with the DNC for how Hillary was so badly treated by the Obama campaign, the media, and the DNC. They may STILL want to send a loud and clear message to them - via a protest vote - that they totally disliked what was done to their candidate.

Hillary even admitted that she got more fair and balanced coverage at Fox News during the primaries!

Christinewjc said...

Spuds,

That was quite the rant...

I think you are wrong, though.

Each election period turns out to be a battle between two opposing worldviews. The Democrats keep creeping further and further to the far left. They have chosen a candidate that is even more leftist on the topic of abortion than NARAL!

Did you read that link I provided to the Palin and Worldviews article at CultureWatch? It makes the point better than I can.

Christinewjc said...

You're welcome Stacy! For some reason, blogger would not allow me to embed the video here. So, I was glad to see that you had the video at your blog.

I think that McCain did a great job in his speech last night. He may not be as gifted an orator as either Palin or Obama, but the content of his message was excellent!

Christinewjc said...

Matt,

Thanks for responding to John.

In my News blog list, Newsbusters reveals what Whoopi Goldberg recently posted on her blog.

Typical of the Hollyweird types, she namecalls Palin with the tired old "Nazi" rhetoric, then makes the "dangerous woman" accusation against her. When confronted with a normal, conservative, country first, nation loving, politically successful, troop supporting, heterosexual woman and mom; why is it that the rabid liberals find her so threatening?

But how funny is this typo?

Whoopi Goldberg: Palin Sounds Pro-Nazi, Wants to 'Succeed' From U.S."

rotflmao!!!

Now I need to go back over to Newsbusters and read the comments!

spud tooley said...

rant? what rant? it was the typical well-reasoned, clear-headed, honest appraisal of the situation at hand that you always get from me...

just out of curiosity, how do you get around this absolute truth:

and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. titus 2:4-5, esv

m.r.

Unknown said...

Spud,

You know, everyone is very fond of parading verses of scripture that, absent context, make appear that Christianity is quite the male dominated playground. It's a pity that it sounds so feasible considering the translation and the negative connotations most Americans have of "submission."

In the first place, all Christians are directed to submit to each other to honor God. "Submission" in this case is a willing decision to accept the authority or decisions of others as an act of worship.

Secondly, while wives are directed to "submit," husbands are directed to "love the wife as
Christ loved the church," that love demonstrated by ultimate self sacrifice. Men are not assigned the role of taskmaster, but of sacrifice for the good of their wives and families. Personally, I think the wives got the better end of the deal, but as an act of worship I don't try to argue with God about it. I try to keep my wife happy. It's worked pretty well for the past 21 years.

Unknown said...

Spud,

BTW - Did you get the irony in that verse you quoted?

"and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. titus 2:4-5, esv"

Here we have a successful woman, working in a leadership role, and it's mostly the secular types that are "reviling" her.

Christine,
I think the bump McCain/Palin gets from ex-Hillary people will be small. There will likely be some, but it will be small. But that's ok, that's not what McCain was after I think. He's not playing identity politics, that's the democrat game. Where he's going to get a bump from Palin is with Conservatives like me who feel he actually might care about us just a little bit. And that bump will be huge. What could be bigger will be the regular folks if they look at her and see that she is a regular person, just like us, and every time the dems and media elites bash Palin, they are bashing US! That could be big.

I went on www.johnmccain.com and signed up, and got an email from the campaign saying "Thanks for joining my team!" If I thought for a second that McCain would actually get it, I'd reply, "No, Thank YOU for joining MY team!"

For myself (and probably some people like me) I'm voting for Sarah Palin because I believe that she is the future of the Republican Party. 30 years from now, "Palin Republican" will take the place of "Reagan Republican" as the measure of what the party should be.

Matt W. said...

Mike, did you miss the "Young Women" part? She did work at home for a lot of years, and yes, I would see running the family business as working at home. As women get older wouldn't you expect them to move into bigger roles?

I don't think there is anything Biblically that would keep me from voting for Sarah Palin. Anyway, thank you for using the ESV, I love that translation.

Christine,
Saw your comment on Bill Muehlenberg's site yesterday, and thought I'd put a post (or two) on your own, since you provided a link.
Do keep posting on Bill's site, as he needs all the help he can, as he battles with the leftist-liberal loons.

I am as excited as you are by Sarah Palin's nomination: if only we had someone like her out here! But it won't be at all easy for her.
I therefore call upon all Americans not only to support her with posters and bumper-stickers. but a whole prayer network across the country. Pray each day for her: to be true to her Lord, her family, her principles, her country, and her supporters. Pray that she is not intimidated by the hyenas of the left, who are running the most unimaginable scaremongering against her.

Even out here we will be upholding her, her husband Todd, and her family throughout the campaign and beyond into office.

She IS going to win!!!

what a shock - a half-dozen or so replies to my question, with only inconsistencies, straw-men, and ad irrelevant answers given.

like most of the imagined 'attacks' on sarah palin, you fulfilled my expectations by finger-pointing to something someone else said or did, in essence reminding us all of our mothers' admonitions about following a friend off a cliff just because someone else jumped first. so quick to promise each of us an appointment in front of God to explain our life's errors, i'd think this one avenue of self-defense - hiding behind another's sins - would seem especially pitiful.

here: let me help you with a seemingly intelligent but completely irrelevant response: 'mike, we don't have to stand in front of God to explain any of our sins - Jesus took care of that.' luckily, that's a beautful truth whose beauty isn't diminished any by any surrounding lack of logic.

oh well, as you were, everyone. not that there's the slightest chance of any other possibility...

Matt,

I think you are right about the idea that most Hillary supporters shun Palin. It's truly sad. It appears that the main reason they reject her is because of the issue of abortion.

We will probably only get pro-life, conservative Dems to vote for McCain/Palin. Perhaps some "moderates" who don't view pro-life backers as a threat.

Think about this. Roe vs. Wade has been around for what...35 years now? It has survived countless attempts to overturn it. I think that the best we pro-lifers can hope for is that the decision for abortion legality should be placed back in the hands of the states. Even if that is done, the "blue" states will probably keep it legal. Unfortunately, it will never be completely outlawed in the entire U.S. (genie out of the bottle syndrome). However, those red states that want it outlawed would have the choice for the people there TO VOTE ON THE ISSUE - which is what should have been done 35 years ago!

O.K. off the soapbox...

Christinewjc said...

Hi Murraya,

Welcome! So glad you came over from Bill's blog to comment!

I agree. We must keep this woman in our prayers! The media onslaught against her has only just begun! But I think that she will be tough enough to withstand it all. She's tougher than that whiner Obama...already!

I truly believe that the Lord heard our prayers and through McCain's V.P. pick, will turn this election around.

What is happening to Gov. Palin - all of the sneering and mockery being aimed at her via the media - is showing people what a farce the MSM really is. They gathered around their "anointed one" - Obama - and tried to silence any criticism against him. Yet, when this wonderful woman - a newcomer on the national stage is introduced, she is disparaged and demeaned by the same media that neglected to vet Obama properly.

The American people (most, anyway) ARE NOT STUPID! There will still be Obama Kool-Aid drinkers who would vote for him no matter what. But those that previously followed him - and now see the faux image that the media has tried to create around him - will be awakened to the truth. They will agree that the MSM has been totally unfair against both McCain and Palin.

Thank God for Sean Hannity -and the other conservative radio talk show hosts! I think that without talk radio and the 18 months of exposing the real Obama, more people would have been completely fooled by his campaign. The books that recently came out against Obama's candidacy have been very helpful as well!

God bless you and I encourage you to come back often to comment!

Christine

Christinewjc said...

Mike,

Even you must admit that the attacks against Palin are not "imagined." They are increasing - exponentially - on a daily basis!

The answers given here may be considered irrelevant by you. But I think that they were all excellent.

It is true that Jesus came to save us from our sins. However, only those who believe, by faith, in Him and his sacrificial death on the cross for our sins by REPENTING OF THEM, will be saved.

There will be two judgments in eternity. One for the saved (Judgment Seat of Christ) and one for the unsaved (The Great White Throne Judgment).

Believers will not be held accountable for their sins because of the fact that as you wrote, "Jesus took care of that" for them. However, for the unsaved, it will be a different story.

Unknown said...

Hey Mike (or is it Spud),

That stuff you mentioned about no one providing decent answers to your comments: Is that anything like when I asked you to give some examples of how Jesus showed mercy to the repentant but knocked down the haughty and you gave me three examples that did not meet the criteria I mentioned?

BTW - My imagination must be really good. So far I've imagined a photoshopped picture that was supposed to be Palin in a bikini, an article showing that Palin cut funding for services that she increased funding for, and a list of books that she supposedly banned. Oh yeah, I also imagined that she insisted on abstenince only sex education in Alaska schools. With my imagination, I should be a best selling author in no time. Failing that, I could become a democrat...
