Choose Life, Your Mother Did

Why do news station reporters only refer to the current Pro-Life Marches at the Capitol and Supreme Court as, "anti-abortion" protests? Is it just because it's the "politically correct" terminology? Could be. Is it because it is an accurate description of what the protests are all about? Not a chance!

The term "pro-life" is devastatingly convicting of what abortion actually destroys. Abortion destroys LIFE! The bumper stickers that say, "Choose Life, Your Mother Did" is also convicting. And, Doug Powers has presented this same idea in his new column over at World Net Daily. He writes:

"Participants in the party for the 33rd anniversary, despite differing races, creeds and nationalities, have one thing in common: Their parents didn't abort them. It's that kind of touching common bond that makes the pro-abortion movement such a close-knit kinship. For a political activist group trying to increase in size and strength, perhaps there's a lesson in there. Just think how many more pro-abortionists there would be at these rallies if more people were like their parents and didn't have abortions."

The hypocrisy and moral relativism of the pro-death camp is shamefully painful and obvious.

Now, watch how many pro-choice people who read this blog come over here and rant and rave AGAINST that previous statement. Well, maybe not since I wrote that last one.

They want to hide the fact that they ARE pro-death when the reality of what abortion does comes to light. Pro-life people can be proud of their stand because it is a positive statement that describes a positive result for the life of the forming baby in the womb. Our message is also life-affirming for the mothers! They will not endure the devastating physical effects (or death!) that an abortion can bring upon them. They will not have to suffer with the emotional pain, guilt, sorrow, and grief that often arises after having an abortion.

I am currently reading Janet Folger's book entitled, "The Criminalization of Christianity." You can go to her website and read the first chapter. In chapter six, she shares the story about Greg Cunningham.

Then there's Greg Cunningham, who came to a university in Miami with his Genocide Awarness Project (GAP), which places huge posters depicting forms of genocide throughout history next to pictures of another set of victims - unborn babies. He had to put barricades around his displays because strudents have tried to cut, mangle, and destroy them. Here's a quote from the school paper the day I visited: "Whoever these people are, they should be shot."
Nice...huh. We see the stark reality of ideological censorship going on at college campuses through just this one example. Imagine if such a thing were said about another group. That would be a hate crime!

Last night, I was contemplating how many minds would immediately be changed if this nation had a pro-life day on TV. Imagine the reactions of millions of teenagers, (especially those who haven't been brainwashed yet by Planned Infanticidehood) as they witness actual sonograms of babies in the womb at various stages of development. They would see how perfectly formed the babies are and know that the lie often spouted by the pro-death camp is just that...a big fat lie! They would forever be changed by seeing that a fetus isn't just a "blob of tissue."

Imagine the horror they would experience if they were to see the film "Silent Scream" which depicts what actually happens to the baby being killed during an abortion. Most teens who become unintentionally pregnant and cannot raise the child themselves, would most likely choose adoption over abortion.

Imagine the joy they would experience when they view pictures of a surgeon in the process of a delicate operation designed to correct the effects of spina bifida on a fetus in the womb. How precious to view that tiny life instinctively latching onto the surgeon's finger as though the baby and Dr. Bruner are "holding hands."

Pro-life day on TV. A day when we could celebrate the demise of Roe vs. Wade and place that ugly, evil death-to-babies decision into the trash heap of history. It's only a dream right now, but one day I pray that it will become a reality.

Doug ends his excellent article with similar thoughts:

"The pro-life movement has made great strides, as the abortion rate continues to decline every year. Perhaps when and if Roe v. Wade reaches its 50th, the legality will be almost a moot point.

If this should be the case, the pro-abortion marches for Roe v. Wade's golden anniversary will turn out to be the first funeral procession in history where nobody died."

  1. Abortion is a horrible thing. I agree with you that the world would be a better place if abortions didn't happen.

But there is a problem: regardless of whether it is legal or not, abortion happens. Abortion is illegal for about 39% of the world's population. Guess what? About 43% of the abortions in the world are illegal.

So abortions will happen no matter what. The question then isn't whether you would stop an abortion if you could (I know you would, and so would I.) The question is: given an abortion, would you rather have it happen in a hospital, with qualified doctors, or in an alley, using a coat hanger?

If you really want to reduce abortions, I believe that the best way is to work with institutions that promote sexual education and distribution of contraceptives.

  2. Juan,

If you would take the time to read the chapter on abortion from David Kupelian's "Marketing of Evil" book, you will see how lies about the amount of botched abortions and lies about public support at the time (which were completely fabricated) helped sell an unsuspecting public on abortion legalization.

    An excerpt:

"We persuaded the media that the cause of permissive abortion was a liberal, enlightened, sophisticated one," recalls the movement's co-founder. "Knowing that if a true poll were taken, we would be soundly defeated, we simply fabricated the results of fictional polls. We announced to the media that we had taken polls and that 60 percent of Americans were in favor of permissive abortion. This is the tactic of the self-fulfilling lie. Few people care to be in the minority. We aroused enough sympathy to sell our program of permissive abortion by fabricating the number of illegal abortions done annually in the U.S. The actual figure was approaching 100,000, but the figure we gave to the media repeatedly was 1 million.

"Repeating the big lie often enough convinces the public. The number of women dying from illegal abortions was around 200-250 annually. The figure we constantly fed to the media was 10,000. These false figures took root in the consciousness of Americans, convincing many that we needed to crack the abortion law.

Plus, for the abortion providers, it's really all about the money that can be made.

No matter how you look at it, it's evil, sad, sick and disgusting that such a terrible thing as abortion was ever made legal in the U.S.A.

  4. Dear Christine -

I find the whole logic of the pro-abortion groups mind boggling.
Someone is choosing to have a back alley abortion and gets hurt or dies. Therefore, they say, "help them choose to do it in a hospital." Should we legalize someone's right to murder another human being, who is 3 or 4 years old because they are inconvenient or the parents cannot care for them?

No, the answer for an unwanted baby is adoption. It's giving the mother compassionate support and counsel.

Women who have bought into the lie that abortion will solve their "problem," need post-abortion counseling to deal with the psychological devastation. It's time the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth be told about abortion. It destroys innocent little babies and shatters the lives of their mothers.

The little child may one day find a cure for the cancer ravaging your body. He or she might grow up to bring joy to family and friends. Don't deny them their right to life because their parents made a choice to have sexual relations without regard for the consequences.

Abortion does not just happen. Someone chooses that course of action and actions have consequences.

As far as rape, etc., we know numerous victims, who chose life for their child. They either gave the child up for adoption or raised that child. As my mother used to say, "two wrongs don't make a right."

    Blessings,
    Anna
