We all know about liberal media bias. Sean Hannity fights against it every day on his radio show and on Fox News Channel's Hannity and Colmes show. Why am I bringing this up? Because one interesting development to the Scott Savage OSU story is the exposure of liberal college library book selection bias!
World Net Daily's latest article, Marketing of Evil locked out of college libraries asks the following question:
Question: If conservative books – even popular bestsellers – and their authors attract so much condemnation on college campuses today, how is that bias reflected in the schools' library systems?
What you will find when you read the article is that this bestselling book is stocked only in fraction of facilities carrying liberal-left titles. Why am I not surprised??
Take a look at these article links and you will see that I'm not exaggerating when I state my opinion that as far as the American Library Association is concerned, the loonies are definitely running the asylum!
Indeed, the American Library Association, the oldest and largest library association in the world with more than 64,000 members, is unapologetically left-wing. It is currently debating whether to sever all ties with the Boy Scouts of America, vigorously defends the acquisition of X-rated children's books in public libraries, and has repeatedly defended communist dictator Fidel Castro over dissident librarians imprisoned in Cuba.
If these three loonie left ideas do not equate with insanity, I don't know what else would!! Talk about perfect examples of the marketing of evil!!
But wait! There's much more!
Not every library links to OCLC, so the statistics on WorldCat are not totally inclusive, but are very valuable – and accurate – for comparison purposes.
Here's a comparison between "The Marketing of Evil" and another bestselling book, one written by an unabashedly liberal author: Barbara Ehrenreich's "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America." Here's how the books lined up.
"Nickel and Dimed": 3,542 copies in libraries worldwide.
"The Marketing of Evil": 188 copies in libraries worldwide.
I have critiqued (and, IMO, subsequently demolished) one of Ehrenreich's sloppy articles at my message board. She made the absolutely stupid mistake of claiming God guilty of a "felony" in an article about the tsunami disaster. Her unthinking rant on that issue and her mockery of God is only the beginning.
How is it that someone like that gets 3,542 copies of her book in libraries worldwide and Mr. Kupelian's book, "The Marketing of Evil" has only 188 copies in libraries worldwide? I know! Maybe it's because no one bought her book!! Ha!
But seriously. We all know the real reason is liberal bias! Conservatives should purchase an extra copy of Kupelian's book and donate it to their local college library! It would be a great experiment to see if they will accept the donation and place it on the college library shelves.
It doesn't seem likely that they will display the book. Heck...librarians didn't even care what happened to one of their own!
Predictably, as the Virginia Tech librarian told WND, "the American Library Association has had an incredible silence about Scott Savage. Here's a librarian under attack for recommending a book!"
With such a leftist leadership, said Savage, in many libraries there isn't much likelihood of conservative, traditional-values-oriented books ending up on the shelves.
