I just saw a newscast that included the just released photos of the Brangelina baby. She's really adorable...no doubt about that. It's incredible that a magazine paid 4.5 million dollars for the right to be the first to photograph her and display them for all the world to see. Millions of people will see the love that the parents have for their newborn baby. It's a joyful time indeed.
My next thought was that this precious baby's photo was worth more than four million dollars. I wonder. What is the baby herself worth? Can anyone put a price tag on her being, her life?
My third thought was of the millions of babies that have been aborted since 1973 when the dreadful decision of Roe vs. Wade handed down that horrific unrestricted abortion decision. Why? Most of the reasons are simply because their "parents" didn't want them.
How much is a photo of an aborted baby worth?? How about a video of several?? How much were the lives of 49,031,668 (as of 8:29 a.m. PT on 6/10/06), which were aborted since 1973 worth??
Abortion in America is a perfect example of the difference between what may be lawful, but that which is wrong and evil. Abortion is murder. Period. The location of the child doesn't matter...whether still in the womb or already born outside the body of the mother.
Of course, one can be cleansed of the sin of abortion. Jesus Christ provides such a cleansing through his crucifixion, sacrificial death, and resurrection to life. The guilt stricken can be freed from their guilt because Jesus told us that He is the truth and the truth will set you free. Your sins can be as far away from you as the east is to the west. That is Christ's gift to us through His Passion at the cross and beyond. Through confession and repentance, Christ bestowed his mercy, grace and salvation upon all who accept Him as Lord and Savior over their lives. We now live for Him. We choose to obey Him and His Commandments because we love Him!

Infanticide and Abortion: Fruits of the Same Tree
Americans Growing More Pro-Life
Christine, three comments about abortion:
ReplyDelete- 39% of the women in the world live under restrictive abortion laws. However, they have anout 44% of the total abortions in the world. I think this shows that abortion laws don't affect the total number of abortions.
- The countries with the smaller abortion rate are Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. I think this says something about liberal sexual education laws and accessibility to contraception.
- If you make abortion illegal in the US, all it takes for American women to have one is to fly to Canada, or to have a friendly and discreet family doctor do it. So the bottom line is that you would be making abortions unsafe and expensive for poor women.
My two first points are based on data from the Guttmacher Institute, which is in general respected by both sides of the abortion debate. Here is a link:
http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_0599.html
I wish Christians recognized those facts, and joined liberals in trying to work towards having less abortions overall. Education and contraception seem to be the best ways to achieve this.
Statistics can be easily fabricated.
ReplyDeleteBack when the lying marketers of the Roe vs. Wade court case came about, these evil people were only about selling the idea to legalize unrestricted abortion, no matter how dishonestly they would present their "evidence." They "sold" the figure of 1 million abortions being performed "illegally" nationwide when the actual figure was 100,000. They also lied about the number of women dying from illegal abortions. The figure they gave to the media was 10,000 and the actual figure was 200-250 annually.
As David Kupelian says in his book, "The Marketing of Evil" -
"Repeating the big lie often enough convices the public."
"These false figures took root in the consciousness of Americans, convincing many that we needed to crack the abortion law."
Juan, the abortion industry is a big money maker. Abortionists and groups like NARAL and Planned Parenthood don't give a damn about the women and could care less that they are murdering helpless babies who have no voice in the matter. They just want to make money. Period.
The lying marketers even laughed when they coined the phrase, "A woman's right to chose."
It's not a choice. It's a baby.
Statistics can be easily fabricated.
ReplyDeleteTrue. But it is dishonest of you to say that and not follow up on the specific statistics I mentioned.
Christine, this is from an organization that is respected by both sides, as I said.
I didn't mean to confuse your cosmology with facts, of course.
Hi Christine -
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that abortion proponents talk about it in terms of statistics. No matter how many seek abortions either legally or illegally, it is still murder. No matter if you call it a fetus, an embryo or a baby, it is still murder. The terms fetus and embryo are just descriptions of a stage of development of a human being - a baby. Would we declare a baby is not a human being because it isn't a child, adolescent or adult? Perhaps this is the next step in the slippery slope downward.
Two wrongs do not make a right. Legalizing murder only puts us all at risk because it devalues life and is forbidden by God.
Blessings,
Anna
Anna,
ReplyDeleteWhich part of "women have abortions whether it is legal or not" did you not understand?
Instead of working towards a smaller number of abortions, you Christians seem to be content by crying about making it illegal and unsafe.
Keep doing that. Might feel good, but you are not doing anything realistic to solve the problem you pretend to care so much about.
Juan -
ReplyDeleteProblems are not solved by dealing with symptoms, but rather causes. People make bad choices, which have consequences.
When we follow moral principles found in God's Word (whether or not we have a relationship with God Himself), we avoid the consequences of bad decisions. By throwing out moral standards, people are creating havoc in their lives.
For those who have made bad choices, either face up to the responsibility of raising the child or give it up for adoption. There are many couples who would give anything to welcome one of these little ones into their home.
There are many organizations out there, which offer a helping hand to women who find themselves in this position. They don't have to walk through it alone. And..they can get through it without snuffing out the life of their unborn baby.
Anna
Anna,
ReplyDeleteOK, so let's assume that your side is successful in outlawing abortion. Now what? According to statistics that the pro-life side accepts, *abortion numbers will stay the same*. Worse yet--well-to-do people will still have safe abortions, in Canada or at home. Poor people will no be so lucky.
So, what do you propose to stop abortions? Having an "abortion police"?
The reasonable answer, to improve education and access to contraception, while keeping abortion legal and safe, is against your dogma.
Juan -
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, in the U.S. abortion was never at the levels they are at today prior to legalization. Giving this vicious procedure the stamp of approval has encouraged its use. It has also emboldened men to shirk their responsibilities and pressure their wives and girlfriends to get rid of the "problem."
As far as the world is concerned, Europe is facing a steadily declining birth rate and looking to immigration to beef up its population. In countries such as India and China, people routinely abort babies if they are girls because of governmental policies allowing only one child or cultural prejudices. Babies are being aborted in some countries because of "defects," which can be easily corrected with surgery after birth.
Second, it is a total fallacy that abortion is "safe." Many women have died, suffered serious infections and lost their fertility because of abortion. Besides the physical problems, women who have abortions suffer from post-abortion syndrome. They have a greater incidence of depression and other emotional side effects. And - abortion is certainly not "safe" for the unborn baby.
One of the largest abortion providers, who developed a conscience, has stated all of the statistics cited by pro-abortion forces are total fabrications. The so-called death rate because of back-street abortions was greatly overstated.
As far as how to stop abortion, close the providers down and stop supporting Planned Parenthood with our tax dollars. Give women counseling, emotional support and practical help with their pregnancies.
Not all pro-life people are against contraception, as long as it does not take the life of an unborn child. Education - it depends on your definition. Educate women to the facts they are carrying a baby, that life is precious, taking responsibility for one's actions, for limiting sexual activity to marriage - absolutely.
Be glad your mother didn't decide you were "just tissue."
Anna
A human life is a human life. A baby is a baby. We are all created in the image of God.
ReplyDeleteMurder is murder, no matter what way you slice it or dice it.
What part don't you get?
God bless you Christine!
Anna you say

BRAVO Anna! as a matter of fact, before abortion was legal, the very indivduals promoting it's legalization 'made up the numbers" by their own admission and fed it to an all too eager media. They said 10,000 or more when actual numbers were around 200. Marketing of Evil indeed!
