Tonight, I am watching one of my favorite movies - "A Walk to Remember."
"Only Hope" is such a beautiful song!
Watch Mandy Moore as she sings the song while performing on stage in a play featured in the movie.
"Only Hope"
[Written by Switchfoot]
There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But You sing to me over and over and over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
and pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now you're my only hope
Sing to me the song of the stars
Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing
and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that You have for me over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope
I give You my destiny
I'm giving You all of me
I want Your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope
Recall the moment in the movie when Landon visits Jamie's dad. This occurs years after Jamie had passed away to be with the Lord Jesus.
ReplyDeleteRemember that Jamie had written a goal, next to her photo in the yearbook which read, "to witness a miracle."
While visiting with Jamie's dad, Landon gives Jamie's diary/prayerbook to him. It is a cherished item for both of them, but Landon wanted her dad to have it.
Then, Landon states, "I just wish Jamie could have seen her miracle."
The dad replies, "She did...it was you."
The first few times that I viewed this movie, I thought that Jamie's "miracle" was the fact that she found love with Landon; despite the fact that she had an aggressive form of leukemia. And, of course, that was certainly part of the miracle.
But now, I realize that Jamie's miracle was so much more than that. It also included the miracle of transformation that happened with Landon. The fact that he turned his life around because of Jamie's positive, Christian influence was an additional part of that miracle; perhaps even more of a miracle than Jamie finding love with Landon.
The love of God. The transformed life through Christ. The love of, and for, eachother. That is what the gospel of Jesus Christ is truly all about.
