I saw the attack ad against Senator McCain where they mock his inability to use a computer. Trouble is, they didn't do the necessary research to find out why!
When I saw the ad, I thought it was probably from some fringe, left-wing lunatic group. I didn't think that the official Obama campaign would do something so cruel. Turns out, the fringe, left-wing lunatic group WAS THE OBAMA campaign! And, Obama "approved the message" at the end of the commercial.
Article about ad attacking John McCain for not knowing how to send an e-mail.
Excerpt:
Their crack research team apparently never heard of Google or Lexis-Nexis, but Jonah Goldberg does. He discovers why McCain doesn’t use a keyboard — his torturers made sure he couldn’t. The Boston Globe reported it eight years ago:HT: Hot AirMcCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.
After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee. It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excruciatingly painful.
"He endured it, he wouldn't settle for less,'' said Lawrence, who rejoiced with McCain when he passed the Navy physical. ''I have never seen such toughness and resolve."
Just because Obama can send an email proves that he can push buttons and being semi - literate enough to do that doesn't mean that Obama can program in C, Machine Language or scripting languages. Being able to send an email doesn't translate into being able to program and it is most likely that Obama uses a mouse because computer companies wanted computers to be simple enough for anyone to use. So being able to use a simple to use computer translates into being in touch? The mouse is about pointing? Do you know many people who can't understand pointing? Did you also know that the X86 chip is a calculator chip and not more advanced than the 68K Microprocessor? While Windows and IBM dominate the desktop market, it doesn't mean their chips are more advanced with more processing power but their calculator chip is based on the dominance of Windows. And the calculator chip is only one of the three chip markets as everyone doesn't have $10,000 to put down on a fast number crunching in the Mainframe market. If being able to use a computer makes you smart then what is Obama's programming abilities? Is he using a calculator chip in his computers like most of the people who don't program or is he using something more advanced? We also have many customer service people who can use a computer at work who have never been to college. What does that prove besides that they have a basic high school education?
ReplyDeleteI can push buttons too but my neighbor is in his eighties and while he doesn't know anything about computers, he told me how to fix my car correctly because I know just the basics when it comes to cars but my neighbor is a mechanic with a full machine shop in his basement.
My neighbor saw a spark in my car while it wasn’t starting, told me to take the distributor cap off and go replace it. I went to Pep Boys, bought a new one and put a new one on. That would have cost me some money at the dealer and when I try to show people, they can't even see the crack in my old distributor cap. Do I need the mechanic to plug his computer into my car's engine to tell him what is wrong? I know many smart people who have been to school who don't have down to earth wisdom when it comes to fixing cars and they spend money on computers to fix things and my neighbor fixes them without the computer because that is real wisdom operating without Windows Vista.
Obama is trying to use the age card and I suppose he is trying to speak to the younger MTV generation because they are more likely to equate texting with what they do on their phones. Would you like the MTV generation in charge of this country? Or would you want someone who knows what life is about because they already lived it?
If you want to look at who is out of touch, I wouldn't necessarily equate going to Harvard with being able to choose correct theology. Obama doesn't sound like he would pass a Hermeneutics class and Black Liberation Theology isn't even Biblical or acceptable enough to be "in touch". Choosing a theology that only floats in some circles is out of touch and you can't have change on race relations unless you drop the race card and abandon this nonbiblical theology.
If you are expecting change, white and black people in America have to forgive each other because racism is a learned behavior from slavery. A man living in England doesn't perceive racism the same way that Americans perceive racism because slavery happened over here and revenge is practiced over here. So if white people are racist, why aren't white people racist in Italy? They didn't import slaves.
The whole problem is the candidates think the election is all about them and the truth is that someone else will be telling them what to do if elected. A P.O.W. is more likely to say "no" to others while someone who is trying to convince the MTV generation that someone is out of touch is more worried about what someone thinks and is more likely to follow the crowd when the crowd is wrong because it isn't about brains because the office was never about them or their brain power.
This post was never meant to be offensive or bad so please delete it if it can be read or perceived another way that I can't see.
Since the computer mouse is about pointing and since typing is about dexterity, not being able to send an email is not about age but I think Obama doesn't understand that John McCain has some disabilities and I think Obama believes that disabled people are "Out of Touch" and can't participate or be involved in this world.
ReplyDeleteWell said sosthenes!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to get the same message to many fellow blacks (I'm assuming that you're non-black - correct me if I'm wrong) that racism is racism and we all must forgive one another and keep on going! But do you know what I get instead? People telling me that it's impossible for blacks to be racist.
So many just keep their attitudes of bigotry and never correcting it because they don't believe they have anything to fix! Black Liberation Theology pushes that attitude.
I've seen more black racists in my days then white! Obama could be what I'd call a closet black racist now using white people for political gain!
Thanks for that article Christine and now I'm wondering if Obama will apologize to McCain. He needs to BIG TIME or otherwise he will just add another piece of bad character to his personna - mean spirited!
Carlotta,
ReplyDeleteI'm part English, part Scottish, part Norwegian, part German-Dutch and part American Indian (Iroquois).
As far as I know, my family did not own slaves. My grandmother was a sharecropper and she lived on a farm and we were never rich.
As far as slavery is concerned, I didn't do anything to black people.
I know that Black people feel that they have been held back and no one is rich enough to right the wrongs so that they will forgive. I have a pastor friend who is black and he said, “That is just it.” I also work with another lady who gets a lot of material on black history month and she tells her children to never let people forget.
1Cr 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind {and} is not jealous; love does not brag {and} is not arrogant,
1Cr 13:5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong {suffered,}
Love does not keep accounts on wrongs suffered.
Matthew 18:21 ¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Matthew 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
We should be asking Obama what kind of Christian he is. Is he going to forgive or is he going to right the wrongs because he keeps score? To many people, that may be considered a divisive question.
Sometimes we have to walk with people in forgiveness because they will still hurt and I will do what I can to help walk with people in forgiveness but I’m not rich enough to fix everything in this world.

I want to also remind people about this article:
ReplyDelete"Tests missiles for electromagnetic pulse weapon
that could destroy America's technical infrastructure"
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43956
If Iran was to damage the US, who would you want in charge? Would you want someone who could send emails or would you want someone who has experience of cold hard military hardware? If you can't use your computers from an Iranian attack, you need someone from the old school.
Sosthenes you have quite a mix - almost similar to mine!
ReplyDeleteI'm West African, Irish, and Choctaw Indian. Pretty cool huh?
I love that you reminded us in 1 Corinthians 13 how true love does not keep an account of wrongs done! It seems that black history does that year after year, keeping that "blaming the white man" syndrome alive.
It's way past time for us to move on and think about what's before us starting with letting go of the past - which many of us have already done.
But nice comments on forgiveness!
Carlotta,
ReplyDeleteI'm also part Irish but I don't write my Senator to introduce Irish Potato Famine history as I'm part English and I'm not blaming the English. I didn't put American Indian on my license to qualify as a minority and the DMV doesn't really check. I'm not blaming the white people for stealing my land but maybe that is my fault.
There is however a great difference between houses in the suburbs and row homes in the inner cities. I know some people who live in conditions that a lot of people wouldn't feel comfortable with.
I went to a junior and senior high school in the suburbs and then moved partially into the suburbs of a city. The differences are acres of land in the suburbs compared to schools in the inner cities and all they have is a gym and maybe a blacktop to play on.
The difference is that the tax base in the suburbs can pay for things like planetariums while most or some inner city schools are packed like sardine cans and don't have the tax base to pay for such things but the government is paying for charter schools.
There is no easy way to get rid of the perceived inequality and it will always be used as a reason that racism exists. Some of the people who are angry say that this election is about race and I’m going to let those who are angry have their own say because it is their right.

ReplyDeleteOf course, this directly contradicts what McCain told the New York Times in July...
“I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself,” McCain told the New York Times in an interview that appeared Sunday. “I don’t expect to be a great communicator, I don’t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need.”
His campaign manager Rick Davis said in June that McCain would grab Blackberrys from reporters and tool around on the internet...
"He actually is, he always is grabbing people's Blackberrys on the bus. In fact, no reporter's Blackberry is safe from his prying eyes. He loves to tool around on the internet, he especially loves the videos that get produced that usually poke fun at him. I think that's his most entertaining part of the internet.
And from an article in the LA Times...
"Hitting an opponent on economic issues is standard political strategy. But going after a candidate for his skill with computers and e-mail …
...is a new, 21st century line of attack.
The McCain campaign charged that it’s untrue.
“John McCain travels with a laptop,” said McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds. “This is a senseless tactic from Obama’s campaign because they’re struggling with the realization that the American people understand he is not equipped to deliver change because his record has no bipartisanship or significant legislative accomplishment in it.”
Did you get that. He travels with a laptop, so I guess we can assume he also uses it. And by the way, actual reporters have spent the last 20 years covering John McCain, the right honorable Senator from the great state of POW and the party of Maverick, riding on the Straight Talk Express, riding on his campaign plane, watching him, and have seen him repeatedly use a blackberry and a phone and a computer and drive his car and god knows what else (including fly a plane AFTER returning from Viet Nam and throw out the first pitch in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series).
More lies...more of the same
My relatives hold a view that is unpopular. My sister is married to an Italian and his parents came over from Italy. They have an olive complexion and his parents have an accent. His Father's wife washed floors on her hands and knees all day long and she they met somehow while working for the same household and they overcame the language and cultural barriers. They made it so they feel that anyone can make it and they feel that affirmative action is wrong.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the answer is, it is unlikely the Senica Indians are going to get their land back anymore that we will solve racism. It is more likely that people's attitudes and views towards racism will change over the next couple of generations and if we're left with hate and no forgiveness then no one wins.
Jesus was cut off and how many Christians want their rights? What rights do we have? Are we not our own and bought with a price? Are we willing to give up our rights? Are we ready to walk in forgiveness? What about those who profess to be Christian but hold Black Liberation Theology? Are they willing to give up their rights or do they want to be defeated by taking their brothers to court?
1 Cor. 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather [suffer yourselves to] be defrauded?
By entertaining claims or racism, there is a fault among them because they don't rather take the wrong. It is not going to be easy but we have to walk together in forgiveness and I would like to grow strong families and communities.
