Have you seen any of the "To Catch a Predator" programs put out by Dateline NBC? If you haven't, you owe it to yourself (and your children!) to see what is happening out there right under the noses of parents. The ease and simplicity that sexual predators have in contacting your children and teens via the internet is astounding! But what is much worse and absolutely appalling, is the ability that theyapparently have to convince a child to give out their address so that the predator can come to the home to have sex with the child!
At first, the program showed the only the following:
1. Sexually explicit IM's of each predator.
2. The arrival of the predator seeking a sexual encounter with underaged boys or girls.
3. A conversation between the predator and the host of the show in the kitchen of the house. Each predator was usually asked, "Why are you here?"
4. And then, most disturbing of all, each pervert predator was simply allowed to leave the premises without any consequence!
However, the show soon caught the attention of America. Local law enforcement became involved in these sting operations and eventually evolved into an "arrest the predators" windfall! Good thing!!
Yesterday, I read an article at family.org that went even further. It delved into what was found out (especially by law enforcement after the arrest) regarding the mindset of these perverts and what led to them doing such a desperate and deviant sexual encounter. It truly answered the question, "Why Are You Here?"
I wrote to Citizen Magazine and requested the opportunity to post the article in it's entirety here at my blogspot. I am awaiting a reply, so meanwhile, I will just post a link so that you can read it and discuss it in the comment section.
The bottom line is this. Most of the predators were into internet pornography. This scourge of the internet is often linked to the sexual crimes we read and here about on a daily basis in the news.
Read the article, and then share your thoughts on what can be done to protect our children!! What can we do to reclaim our culture?

Why Are You Here?
"So getting them on Dateline shows that now everyone in the world knows you’re doing some strange stuff with Cool Whip, a cat and a kid.” "
ReplyDeleteUm, actually, I don't need Dateline to tell me that. I never watched a full show of that. I wouldn't even ask "why are you here", I'd just drag the guy out back and start whaling away with a bat.
Yeah Limpy99. I fear that my anger would brew up so big that I might be tempted into violence against such a pervert. But then I must remember what the Bible says. It's OK to be angry, but do not sin. Sometimes that's easy to say and hard to do, though.
ReplyDeleteWhile I watched the show, I was kinda shocked that the guy who interviewed the predators in the kitchens of each "victim's" home didn't show much negative emotion towards them. Guess that was his job to remain unemotional. I probably couldn't have done that. Instead, I would have wanted to grab a fry pan and whack him with it!
Boo,
ReplyDeleteI did not see that particular comment. What thread was it in? Because I didn't see Mark say that to you, I just assumed that you were creating a hypothetical. I'm confused as to why you said that Phronk should have called you that.
Anyway, I apologize for not noticing the offense and thus for not following through and asking Mark to change his wording. Mark has admitted, in the past, that he sometimes still fights the tendency to have a "potty mouth." Don't we all? I still fight against such tendencies too, at times.
If it will make you feel better, please point out the thread where this occurred. I can then bleep that word out. Again, I'm sorry for the oversight and that my inaction caused you to be so hurt. Heated discussions can happen on blogs, and feelings can get hurt and damaged because of things said in anger. I'm just as guilty as the next person and I try to keep the discussions civil here. Sometimes I succeed, and other times I fail. But we are all only human and make mistakes. Thank God for His forgiveness! I'd be lost without it.
I hope that you can forgive me for being a hypocrite and hateful. Because I am trying to be a good ambassador for Christ, that is something that I don't want to be like. I'll continue to work in that area in my life and on this blog.
You are welcome to continue posting here if you change your mind about leaving. I have read that many bloggers enjoy reading your posts so you add a lot to this blog...even if I don't particularly agree with all that you write! That's your decision, of course. Either way...God bless.
Christine
christine,
ReplyDeleteI don't remember calling boo that, I also would not be surpised if I did. I will take this opportunity to say I am sorry Boo, it was a poor choice of words.
I should have said, you are terribley mistaken and after reading your absolute last comment you are a cry baby and perhaps passive aggressive as well. :)
Hi Mark,
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying that.
I did not see such a comment made by you. Since Boo doesn't plan on posting here anymore I guess she will not be showing us where you allegedly posted it.
I've seen much, much worse things said on other blogs...including awful verbiage hurled at me. These days, I avoid those blogs and just post on blogs of likeminded people. Blogging is now a much more pleasant experience for me...that's for sure!
boo can call you hateful and a hypocrite, without any evidence you did anything wrong.
ReplyDeleteI think you had it right the first time I think the real reason that Boo wants to make a hasty exit is so that she doesn't have to answer Mark's questions.
and I don't even remember at this point what the heck I asked her. :) God Bless!
