The Road to Calvary: Betrayal
Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him." Matthew 26:48

Benedict Arnold, the American Revolutionary War general, distinguished himself in that conflict. Unfortunately, he ruined his own name when he became disaffected with the American cause and betrayed the American army. His plot to aid the British was discovered and thwarted, but Arnold escaped to the British side and has been known as an American traitor ever since.
It's bad enough when a loyal friend disappoints us—as Peter disappointed Jesus on the eve of the crucifixion. But when a person is discovered to have been, or becomes, a traitor, the pain goes deeper still—as Judas revealed himself to be on that same fateful night. Betrayal means a person has lived a lie and has presented himself as something that he is not. A traitor makes us feel bad about ourselves: How could we not have seen what was going on? If you are ever betrayed by a supposed friend, take king David's position: "May the God of our fathers look and bring judgement" (1 Chronicles 12:17). In other words, leave it in God's hands.
We are responsible for no one's innocence save our own. Remember Christ's betrayal and His response on the road to Calvary.

I just wanted to tell you that the book I was talking about in an earlier comment is the one that was mentioned in the PM article you linked. That's were all the info came from in the first place, lol.
ReplyDeleteAs for the hostility I saw in one of your earlier posts, well, I'm sorry that you were attacked like that. I know how it feels, unfortunately, to be called "not Christian enough" or not the RIGHT kind of Christian. I agree with you... being a Christian is having a relationship with your Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm glad that you and I have gotten past that nonsense.
Oh, and I put a link to your blog on my blog. See how far we've come?
Thanks Jaded.
ReplyDeleteIf "The View" was a fair and balanced type of show (no chance THAT would ever happen!) they would invite someone involved with the Popular Mechanics article (or one of the book writers) on to refute Rosie's ignorant blathering.
As for the hostile posts in a recent thread, it was my own fault. Shouldn't have ventured into the "political enemies" territory. It answered a lot of questions that were on my mind, however.
I'm glad that we have found peace with each other and are now finding ourselves agreeing on more topics! I'm glad we are past the "nonsense," too.
Thanks for the link at your blog! What a pleasant surprise!
Faultline USA has given me some advice on how to better promote my blog. I have just been too lazy to do it I guess!
How was your vacation? Wonderful I hope!
God bless!
