Lindsey:
I am stunned the Bush administration is pressuring Israel to agree to all of the Palestinian demands in advance, with the threat that they'll be blamed for the summit's failure if they don't.
In view of this, my question is, "What's the point of the conference?" "What's left to negotiate?" President Bush and Secretary Rice have already done the Palestinians' negotiating for them. And all of this despite the fact that the Palestinians have not lived up to one prerequisite condition outlined in Bush's own "Road Map for Peace."
These are the exact conditions Zechariah predicted would be part of the last stages of this age. He continues, "And it shall happen in that day that I WILL make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for ALL PEOPLES. …" – meaning the entire world. Now here's the punch line: "ALL who would seek to heave it away will surely be cut in pieces." The original Hebrew makes the meaning of this even clearer. It reveals that everyone who tries to remove the heavy burden of the Jerusalem crisis will be utterly destroyed for getting involved with it. Isaac and Ishmael's fight over possession of Jerusalem has drawn the whole world into it – just as the prophets predicted. It is the culmination of Ishmael's 4,000-year-old hatred of his half-brother Isaac, the forefather of the Israelites.
...They must be ignorant of a prophecy God made 2,500 years ago through the Hebrew prophet Zechariah. It applies to this precise time and situation in history. God said, "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples. …" The people surrounding Jerusalem are all the current Muslim nations.
I pray that somehow this message will get through to President Bush and Secretary Rice. This prophecy applies to this very moment in which we live. And in light of what they are forcing on Israel, it applies to them personally.

Notice that Lindsey also stated in his article:
"You know, I fear for both President Bush and Secretary Rice. I also fear for my beloved country."
I have heard several end-times-prophecy biblical scholars mention that the United States does not appear to be involved in the conflict at the point in the future where it is predicted that an eminent attack against Israel happens; but at the last moment the attack is supernaturally halted. Many have speculated about this, wondering, "so, where is the United States?"
I can honestly say that I do not know. But it is eerie to me that Bush and Condi are trying to force a Palestinian state upon Israel, and they are doing it in such a way that requires way to much compromise.
I hope and pray that this summit does not amount to anything. It will probably end up being just another failure at forcing "peace" between the Palestinians and Israel. It is the same old situation that has gone on over the past 40 years. In a way, the lack of progress on Bush's (as well as every former president's efforts on this issue) "Roadmap for Peace" can be viewed as God's protection for our nation. I pray that it continues.
Lindsey:
While Bush and Rice strive to create legacies for themselves – just as most presidents have tried to do with the Middle East conflict for the last 40 years – they not only endanger themselves, but also endanger this nation with the divine curse promised above. Mr. President, there is nothing on this earth worth what you are doing. In the power of God's Spirit, I warn them both, "Stop, before it's too late!"
Lindsey's plea will most likely fall upon deaf ears. That is why we must have faith that God will "stop it before it's too late."

Isreal's destiny is the world's destiny.
ReplyDeleteAs Isreal goes, so goes the world.
The President and Ms Rice tread ground which may bring them both into conflict with the God of the universe. He has sworn by himself to protect his people and the land he promised the Abraham. No one, can change that. No amount of politicing, no amount of force or trickery. Not even the ultimate farce of a deal by the Antichrist himself will change it.
Like Hal Lindsey Im concerned that the President's actions may result in dire consequences for our nation.
God help us.
this is, uh, somewhat absurd.
ReplyDeleteand frightening.
as i've written on my own blog, it's one thing to use the bible to be aware of the times - it's another to be reading something as "prophecy" and identifying when your own name will be scrolling by in the credits.
the problem with prophetic passages and the way we can read back into them events that have happened is that they are so nebulous to begin with.
if we want to say, "see? the bible is true because prophecy is being fulfilled," then show me the verse that says, "and the united states will not be entering the war against israel and all her surrounding arab countries, and the leaders bush and rice will be trying to act in diplomatic fashion yet will not be reading the right sheep entrails for direction."
the admonition to all of us is not that we read the right verses and see that zechariah is talking to us, today.
the proper admonition is that we not lose our own heads when everyone else around us is losing theirs...

Wow, I'm constantly amazed at the efforts to broker compromise between good and evil. What if Israel tried to "negotiate" a settlement between the U.S. and Al Qaeda? Laughable, right?
ReplyDeleteThis is where Bush completely confuses me.
Mike that may simply explain your own ignorance and disconnect with prophecy rather than any nebulousness of the text.
ReplyDeleteNo one is losing their heads, it looks like Christine was simply doing what has always been done with God's word: make people aware. What you choose to do with the information is up to you.

flattery will get you nowhere, gcmwatch.
but i appreciate that you stooped to slandering me so quickly; saves others the time from doing the same when they, too, run out of intelligent arguments.
the new testament references that are apparently fulfilled ot prophecies only go to show that the earlier texts had AT LEAST two meanings - possibly more, depending on who was (mis)interpreting them.
we don't need people like newt gingrich and john hagee reading revelation and thinking they can help speed up the date that armageddon gets here.
the simple question i ask over and over is this: can "the kingdom of heaven on earth" and "it all goes up in smoke at the end" both be true?

the ignorant and disconnected

I said nothing about Newt of John. If you have a problem with them, thats between you and them. Still it changes nothing about what the scriptures say and reveal to us about where we are in time in relation to Isreal, Christ and his coming.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, no one slandered you. If you don't like your views being critized, its best not to post things publicly. Don't victimize yourself when nothing of the sort exists.
There was no suggestion from Christine that anything was "going up in smoke" as your simple question has so trivialized. She was talking about the actions of the President and his chief foreign affairs officer in relation to what scripture plainly reveals.
Focus.
Speaking of "going up in smoke," the wildfire situation in San Diego County is absolutely devastating!!
ReplyDeleteOur home and family are safe; thank the Lord!

gcmwatch,
ReplyDeleteDespite Bush and Rices' mistakes in this area of their foreign policy efforts, I think that (IMHO)just like in the Clinton years, the Lord will protect us through the failure of these so-called "peace" deals that we attempt to broker between the Palestinians and Israel.
Mike,
I have heard such skepticism before. I don't blame you for feeling that way. However, Lindsey isn't attempting to add anything to prophecy (IMO), he is just pointing out the obvious.
In my original post, I mentioned that many respected biblical scholars have noticed that the United States is not mentioned in end times prophecy. Of course, we can only speculate why (or why not). However, other nations are mentioned specifically by name. For example, please read the following posts:

2. Jerusalem Countdown

Doug,
I totally agree with you! This is one area where Bush (and Rice) just don't get it! I truly believe that the reason for this must be that they are either unaware of biblical end times prophecy concerning NOT TO DIVIDE ISRAEL; or, they deliberately are totally ignoring the Biblical warnings (since Bush claims to read his Bible); or simply trying to force "peace" between the Palestinians and Israel to appease one side or the other. Similarly, each of the presidential administrations before them (which, even with handshakes and "agreements" through attempted brokering within this impossible situation) have hopelessly also failed in the past. The reason? There will be no peace in Jerusalem until the Prince of Peace returns! This is what the Bible says and we should believe it to be true!
Doug, you summed it up well when you wrote:
"What if Israel tried to "negotiate" a settlement between the U.S. and Al Qaeda? Laughable, right?"
The question remains why can't Bush and Rice see this!!!
Mike (again),
I have to disagree with what you wrote here:
"we don't need people like newt gingrich and john hagee reading revelation and thinking they can help speed up the date that armageddon gets here."
Revealing how biblical prophecy lines up with today's headlines does not mean that those who are warning the public are 'helping to speed up the date that armageddon gets here.' They don't have the power, obviously, to do that, Mike. However, as gcmwatch (thanks!) stated,
"She was talking about the actions of the President and his chief foreign affairs officer in relation to what scripture plainly reveals."
gcmwatch said:
ReplyDelete>Secondly, no one slandered you.
you called me ignorant!
read your own post. the huffy, "oh yeah" tone of your last post is typical of those in your camp who start attacking the individual instead of the issue at hand.
and, Christine, Psalm 83 says nothing about being prophetic, says nothing about the 21st century, says little but general claims that Israel's enemies will encircle her and destroy her.
gee - there's some news...
and, to argue your second point, there most certainly are individuals who are trying to make the scenes in revelation come true. it may not come true in fulfillment of the text, but they are making sure lines are drawn and waiting anxiously for people to cross them.
