Such A Beautiful Surrender

Acts 1:8 - and you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit had come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (NKJV)

Have you ever wondered why the disciples had to wait for the Holy
Spirit before they could be Christ's witnesses? Weren't they already witnesses? Hadn't they performed miracles and wonders along side Jesus?

Yes. While they walked with Jesus and lived in His presence, the
disciples were able to do many amazing things. Now, Jesus had gone away, and they realized without Him they were not sufficient.
They needed the "Helper" whom Jesus had promised to empower them to live productive, powerful and victorious lives.

So do we! As born-again Christians we have the power of the Holy
Spirit indwelled within our being. The question often is, do we allow
him to work through us or do we try to accomplish in our own effort?

How can we live extraordinarily through the ordinary events and occurances of everyday life? By the power of the "Helper", working
out what Christ has already put in. We do that by not trying to live like Christ by our own self-effort. Instead, we surrender daily to His Lordship. Then we depend on His faith, love, patience, joy and self-control to be manifested in us while "being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the
day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians1:6 NKJV)

Notice that word "surrender."

Surrender is often implied as a negative trait in the secular humanistic world (as it should be, in some cases). But when incorrectly viewed as weakness when someone turns their life over to the saving grace of Christ, it is often ridiculed, demeaned, and seen by those not willing to repent as something to be avoided. This is the basis of the unregenerate heart.

As the passage above instructs us, when it comes to spiritual matters,
it is when we surrender our will to the Will of God and ask Him to live
His life in us through His Son, Jesus Christ; that is when we are victorious in our Christian walk. Just proves the point that God's thoughts are not our thoughts. We are imperfect (because of sin),
fallible, and vulnerable to the attacks of the Evil One who wants to
snatch us away from the Father's Hands. Trouble is, Satan already
knows he is a defeated foe and when we are born again, NO ONE can snatch us out of God's hands. What a great and reassuring promise! No matter what happens to us on this earth, we
can go forth with confidence because of Jesus Christ and what he has done on the cross and through his resurrection to life for our salvation!

Lord, thank you for forgiveness of sins and dying in my place that I
may know God and have eternal life. Today, I want to make you Lord
of my life. I want to live life with power and purpose. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and guide each day of my life that I might glorify you.
Amen.

We do play an important part in living a surrendered life to our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. Get rid of any part of your lifestyle that is not pleasing to God. Trust God for new relationships. Ask Him to empower you with His supernatural strength where you are weak. He wants
what's best for you and will provide it as you walk in obedience to Him.

Romans 8:15 - For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to
fear, but you received the spirit of adoption by who we cry out "Abba, Father." (NLT)

Romans 8:26 - Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For
we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (NKJV)

We do that by yielding ourselves to God and asking Him to live
His life through us. Surrendering to His life within is tapping into the source that enables us to be a victorious Christian. Then we will begin to live with purpose, His purpose!

It is such a beautiful surrender and the benefits are endless!

Here are just a few.

1.) Sin no longer has power over us. (Romans 6:13)
2.) Absence of fear and a sense of belonging. (Romans 8:15)
3.) New confidence. (Philippians 1:6)
4.) He is strength in our weakness. (Romans 8: 26)
5.) Fellowship with God. (1 Corinthians 1:9)
6.) Reigning peace, joy and satisfaction. (John 14:27)

It is then we live life with purpose, His purpose.

A popular Christian band performs a song that reveals the beauty of surrendering to the Lordship of Christ. I hope you get a chance to hear the song. Here are the lyrics:

MuteMath - Control
From the album Reset

Take control of the atmosphere
Take me far away from here
There is no better loss than to lose myself in you
In a parachute to glide, I am captive in your sky
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful

Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
You can take my world you can fill the air
Take control, take control

It's such a beautiful surrender
It's such a beautiful surrender
It's such a beautiful surrender
It's such a beautiful surrender

Move me up through the darkest clouds
Till I've lost in the sun every shadow of doubt
There is no better find than to find myself with you
In a fog you are all I see
I'm inviting you closer with each time I breathe
Surrender has somehow become so beautiful
Take control of the atmosphere
Take control of the atmosphere
There is no reason I should breathe unless you're in the air
Take control

Its such a beautiful surrender
Its such a beautiful surrender
And I'm calling out
would you take control
And I'm calling out

Another powerful song is "Here With Me" by Mercy Me!

MercyMe - Here With Me
From the album Undone

I long for your embrace
Every single day
To meet you in this place
And see you face to face

Will you show me?
Reveal yourself to me
Because of your mercy
I fall down on my knees

And I can feel your presence here with me
Suddenly I’m lost within your beauty
Caught up in the wonder of your touch
Here in this moment I surrender to your love

You’re everywhere I go
I am not alone
You call me as your own
To know you and be known

You are holy
And I fall down on my knees

I can feel your presence here with me
Suddenly I’m lost within your beauty
Caught up in the wonder of your touch
Here in this moment I surrender to your love

I surrender to your grace
I surrender to the one who took my place

I can feel your presence here with me
Suddenly I’m lost within your beauty
Caught up in the wonder of your touch
Here in this moment I surrender…

I can feel your presence here with me
Suddenly I’m lost within your beauty
Caught up in the wonder of your touch
Here in this moment I surrender to your love

Hi Christine,
I also like to remember this scripture from John 14:26 concerning the need for the Holy Spirit. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you." I think the last part of this "bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you" is the key. The Holy Spirit reminded them and taught them the meaning of things Jesus said during those 3 years that the disciples just didn't understand at the time. And He helps us in this same way today.

I'm not familiar with the first band you mentioned in your post. Is their name Mutemath? I love to find new Christian music - so let me know. Thanks!

Me again. :) I found MuteMath on the web and heard the song you referred to - I've heard it alot on the radio but didn't know the name of the band. Learned something else today - thanks Christine!!

Hi Jojo,

I think Mutemath is a fairly new band..at least they are new to me. Did you like the song? I find myself singing it in my head (or out loud when no one can hear!) many times throughout the day. I have it on a WOW CD in my car. I rarely turn on the radio anymore. I prefer Christian music and artists. They carry such positive, encouraging messages and lift up the name of the Lord which increases my joy throughout the day!

I don't know why, but I can't seem to tune in the KLOVE Christian station on my car radio. I listen online and can receive the signal (though weak sometimes) in my master bathroom.

Doing anything fun for the 4th? Have a great weekend!

Yea, I liked MuteMath - I went to their website and listened to a little of each song on their CD - I thought it might be a band my son would like too.

I am so worn our from the weekend. But I can sleep in tomorrow!! YEA! We had a big day yesterday with a festival for the holiday and fireworks etc. Today there was a boat parade and then some dear friends came over for dinner and euchre. But I am so tired - I have to go to bed now. Night!

Sounds like you had a very busy day Jojo! Hope you slept well last night and get to rest today!

I haven't had the chance to listen to other songs by Mutemath, but I really like "Control".

Another song I like is "Cornerstone" by Day of Fire. I learn about many of the Christian bands through the WOW cds. Then, I go out and buy the individual bands cd. It helps to listen first though. I really like a Sonic Flood cd that my daughter bought for me, but one of the earlier cds I went out and bought wasn't as appealing to me. I should have taken the time at the store to listen to the songs before I bought it! Oh well. Live and learn!

Are you going to the fireworks? I haven't attended in years. Don't like the craziness trying to drive home afterwards.
