A Health Warning Plus Dietary Suggestions

There is an important article that contains some bad news regarding the filth and unhealthy conditions at a certain restaurant over at the Natural News.com Site.

Excerpt:

(NaturalNews) Shocking photos posted on the internet claim to show behind-the-scenes filth at a Golden Corral restaurant. The photos appear to show filthy dishes stacked nearly head-high, with food waste littering the floor right next to beverage service carts. Three employees are clearly depicted in the photos, and they appear to be wearing uniforms consistent with those worn by Golden Corral employees.

The photos (see below) also show overflowing trash cans and food refuse so thick that employees are walking all over it while mountains of filthy dishes appear to be ready to collapse onto the floor.

All photos are shown  [HERE].

Adding to the apparent filth, a young man who claims to be a Golden Corral employee has posted a shocking video that he says shows Golden Corral hiding fresh meat near dumpsters while the restaurant undergoes an inspection. Once the inspection is over, he explains, the food will be carted back into the restaurant and served up to hungry customers (but without all the flies).

So gross!

I have gotten sick at several different restaurants in the past and when I do end up sick, I NEVER GO BACK!

I have not eaten at any "Golden Corral" restaurants and now that I've seen the filth and unsanitary conditions there, I never will!

When I see incidents like this, I don't feel confident about eating out at restaurants!

As long as we are on the subject of health issues, I must share that having digestive issues later in life [those of us in the 50+ crowd],  seems to be a common ailment.   Two discoveries of what to avoid have helped me tremendously!

First, about five years ago I learned that I was "lactose intolerant." (LT)  I have heard that this can be hereditary in nature, but it also seems to develop more often in women (rather than men) later on in life.  There are statistics out there that claim that over 50% of women (in particular) over the age of 50 become lactose intolerant!

I look for items in the health food grocery stores [e.g. Sprouts] that are designated as "lactose free."  I love ice cream, but the only one that I have found so far that is designated as "lactose free" is Breyers vanilla.  There are many soy and almond ice cream substitutes, and some of them are really good!  But my favorite is the Breyers lactose free vanilla (with chocolate syrup on top)!

I was drinking a lot of soy milk when I first discovered that I was LT, but switched to Lactaid milk.  FYI - once opened, soy milk and Lactaid milk should be consumed within seven days.

When I'm out at a restaurant, I try to choose items on the menu that don't contain any dairy products.  However, if I'm not sure (or, I decide to have a little butter on the bread), I take a Lactase enzyme supplement.  My favorite brand is Enzymedica "Lacto" which prevents bloating, is complete digestive support, and aids in cheese and milk digestion.  It is vegan and kosher, and contains plant based enzymes.  The label claims that it is the #1 selling enzyme brand.  It sells for @ $20.00 for 30 capsules at Sprouts stores, but I usually stock up when they have their 25% off sales!

Several months ago, I still was not feeling right in my digestive tract.  Admittedly, I used to love cake, brownies, pie etc., but decided that maybe I should try to cut down drastically on the sweets and also try eating a gluten-free diet to see if I would feel better.  I could see the difference almost immediately, but after one week I knew that gluten-free eating was for me!  Another positive result was that I dropped four pounds!

Natural food stores have the greatest selection of gluten-free products.  I switched out my cereals, breads, and occasional "sweets" for whatever I could find in each aisle that were labeled "gluten-free."

I'm not an expert on this issue, so further research might be a good idea.  However, when I asked a friend about where the gluten additives (they are in MANY products!) came from, she informed me that years ago, manufacturers started adding the "chaff" from the wheat that had been previously thrown out before using the wheat in breads cereals, and other food items!

It dawned on me that the Bible uses the analogy of "separating the wheat from the chaff" **for a reason!  Supposedly, manufacturers use the chaff in their products now to keep costs down while achieving larger quantity production of their products.  I ask, at what cost does this come to the health of individuals?

When I find myself eating a product that has gluten in it (which I try hard not to do!), Enzymedica also has a supplement called "GlutenEase" with DPP-IV Activity for Gluten and Casein digestion.  It contains high potency DPP-IV, and provides additional support when eating foods that contain gluten or casein.  If I recall correctly, the bottle that I bought cost @ $27.00 for 60 capsules.

Of course, you may want to consult your physician before taking any supplements.

When I consulted with my doctor and found out that I have osteo-arthritis, she recommended a diet called "The Mohrdar Diet" which was designed to help with easing inflammation.  But I hated the fact that it recommended giving up shellfish!  I love shrimp, crab, and lobster!  However, eliminating beef from my diet did help ease my digestive problems because beef is always difficult to digest.  Lamb is easier to digest so I have that at least 3 times per month.  I eat chicken, turkey, fish, and lamb for protein.

Buying gluten-free products is more expensive.  But to me - it's well worth the health benefits!  Many gluten-free breads can be found in the refrigerated and/or frozen food sections of the store.  Keeping them refrigerated after opening at home helps keep them fresh longer, too.

Questions and/or comments are welcome!  I can always learn more!

Stay healthy!

~  Christine

Jer 23:28  “The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?” says the LORD.

Mat 3:12   “His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

New "Rationing Board" Threatens Health Care Access in America

Dear Readers,

This is a CRUCIAL SUBJECT so PLEASE READ and share with everyone you know! Recall how the media of mass deception mocked Sarah Palin for her concern about the "death panels" written in the Obamacare bill? She was CORRECT FOLKS!

Sarah Palin's Face Book Page Notes: Lies, Damned Lies – Obamacare 6 Months Later; It’s Time to Take Back the 20!

Excerpt:

And remember when the Obama administration said they would not be “rationing care” in the future? That ol’ “death panels” thing I wrote about last year? That was before Obamacare was passed. Once it passed, they admitted there was going to be rationing after all. There has to be. The reality of Obamacare is that it enshrines what the New York Times called “The Power of No” – the government’s power to say no to your request for treatment of the people you love. The fact that the president used a recess appointment to push through the nomination of Dr. Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services tells you all you need to know about this administration’s intentions. After all, Berwick is the man who said, “The decision is not whether we will ration care – the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

By the way, when the administration was talking about that independent board that has the statutory power to decide which categories of treatment are worthy of funding based on efficiency calculations (that, again, sounded to me like a panel of faceless bureaucrats making life and death decisions about your loved ones – which, again, is what I referred to as a “death panel”), it was another opportunity for Americans to hear the truth about Obamacare’s intentions.

So, yes, those rationing “death panels” are there, and so are the tax increases that the president also promised were “absolutely not” in his bill. (Aren’t you tiring of the untruths coming from this White House and the liberals in Congress?) When the state of Florida filed a challenge to Obamacare on the basis that the mandates in the bill are unconstitutional, the Obama Department of Justice filed a motion to dismiss the suit by citing the Anti-Injunction Act, which blocks courts from interfering with the federal government’s ability to collect taxes. Yes, taxes! Once the bill was passed it was no longer politically inconvenient for the Obama administration to admit that it makes no difference whether the payment is a tax or a penalty because it’s “assessed and collected in the same manner.” The National Taxpayer Advocate has already warned that “Congress must provide sufficient funding” to allow the IRS to collect this new tax. Pretty soon we’ll be paying taxes just to make it possible for the IRS to collect all the additional taxes under Obamacare! Seems as if this is another surprise that the public found out about after the bill was rammed through.

There is a Christian ministry called Truth In Action which has set up a petition to sign at the website. You will find the petition link at the end of the following article:

Truth In Action: New Rationing Board Threatens Health Care Access In America.

This is a ministry that deserves support and I encourage everyone to read about the new "rationing board" that threatens health care access in America. Donate just $5 or more and receive a booklet: Ration Care: The Powerful Unelected Board that Threatens Healthcare in America

Dear Children, let us not love with word or tongue but with actions and in truth. - 1 John 3:18 NIV

I was so glad when Michele Bachmann was in the race for the presidency because she kept this issue front and center at all of the debates. Since her exit, the debates that I have witnessed have not mentioned the need to repeal Obamacare!

On page two, there is an article that covers why newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan should RECUSE HERSELF FROM THE UPCOMING CASE!

Copy of article:

Why Justice Kagan Should Withdraw
from Health Case

Should a U.S. Supreme Court justice pass judgment on a law she is known to support, one for which she apparently took a role in devising a legal defense strategy?

That’s a question many people are asking about Elena Kagan, who was U.S. Solicitor General when health care reform became law. Kagan’s “Simply amazing…” email to a colleague on March 21, 2010, celebrating the imminent passage of the health care restructuring bill, demonstrates her support for the law in which she is about to sit in judgment.

“...definitely...involved”

But there’s more. A Jan. 8, 2010 email from her deputy, Neal Katyal, states that “Elena would definitely like OSG [Office of the Solicitor General] to be involved in this set of issues [legal defense of health care reform].

Kagan was also copied on a March 18, 2010 email which outlined privileged information regarding the government’s legal strategy to defend the law.
Federal law requires a judge to withdraw from “any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.” We believe that reasonable standard has been met in Justice Kagan’s case.

Please read, sign and return the enclosed petition to Justice Kagan, asking her to withdraw herself from the case.

Example of petition to print out, sign, and mail:

A PETITION TO THE HONORABLE ELENA KAGAN,
ASSOCIATE JUSTICE OF THE U.S. SUPREME COURT

Dear Justice Kagan:

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to decide the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Your past involvement as an advocate for this law while Solicitor General, as evidenced by emails released as a consequence of Freedom of Information Act lawsuits, makes it clear that you have a conflict of interest and a legal duty to recuse yourself from hearing this case.

Your view of the law itself is clear from your email to your colleague Laurence Tribe on March 21, 2010, celebrating its imminent passage. You also commissioned your deputy, Neal Katyal, to participate in strategy sessions within the Obama administration to defend the law and had access too privileged information regarding that legal strategy.

God's Word states that judges are to be impartial: "You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality..." (Deuteronomy 16:19 NKJV). (bold mine)

Federal law states that a judge who has "served in governmental employment" must recuse if she has "expressed an opinion concerning the merits of the particular case in controversy." The law, 28 USC 455, also requires a judge to withdraw from "any proceedings in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned."

That standard is more than met by the information contained in the few emails released by the U.S. Justice Department. With all due respect, Justice Kagan, you have a clear duty to recuse yourself in this case. Should you fail to do so, it will deeply stain your reputation and that of the Court. For all these reasons, we implore you to withdraw from this case.

Sincerely,

Diet Guidelines for Inflammatory Conditions

As we get older, sometimes our bodies do not react well to the foods we were once able to eat regularly. Has this happened to you? I have had discussions with many people who are suffering from various inflammatory ailments. The range includes everything from arthritis to IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome. My general practitioner recommended a homeopathic diet that is meant to ease inflammatory conditions. I have followed this diet for several weeks now and I can tell you that it works!!

Here is a copy of the guidelines:

INFLAMMATORY CONDITIONS

Dietary Guidelines:

Eat a diet that is high in fiber and that is not tainted with chemicals, which stress the body. Maximize your intake of fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Make sure your diet includes cold-water fish such as salmon and halibut. The oils in these fish are beneficial to the joints (for patients with arthritis) and act as natural anti-inflammatories. Be sure to drink six to eight glasses of water daily.

Food to Include:

Fruits: unsweetened fresh, frozen, or water-packed. Lemon, lime, grapefruit

Starch: non-gluten grain: brown rice, millet, quinoa, amaranth, teff, tapioca, buckwheat

Bread/Cereal: any made from rice, buckwheat, millet, soy, tapioca, arrowroot, amaranth, quinoa

Meat: all fresh fish such as halibut, salmon, cod, sole, trout, wild game, chicken, turkey, lamb

Legumes: all dried beans, peas, lentils

Nuts and seeds: raw almonds, cashews, walnuts, sesame (tahini), sunflower, pumpkin, and nut butters made from these seeds

Dairy Products: milk substitutes such as rice milk, soy milk, ( I use soy milk and my favorite is the WestSoy low fat vanilla) nut milk, hazelnut milk, almond milk

Vegetables: raw, steamed, sauteed, juiced, or baked vegetables (except those specifically prohibited)

Fats: olive oil, flax seed oil, cold/expeller-pressed canola, safflower, sunflower, sesame, walnut, pumpkin, almond oil, dressings made from these oils

Beverages: 8 cups of filtered or distilled water per day, herbal tea

Spices: cinnamon, cumin, dill, garlic, ginger, oregano, parsley, rosemary, tarragon, thyme, turmeric

Sweeteners: brown rice syrup, fruit sweetener, blackstrap molasses, stevia

FOODS TO LIMIT

All nightshade family vegetables, including tomatoes, all potatoes (except yams and sweet potatoes), eggplant, red, green, and yellow bell peppers, dried fruit (sulfite free)

FOODS TO EXCLUDE

Fruit: oranges, tangerines, grapes, fruit drinks, ades

Starch: Wheat, corn, oats, barley, spelt, kamut, rye, and all gluten-containing products

Meat: Beef, port, cold cuts, frankfurters, sausage, canned meats, eggs, shellfish

Nuts: Peanuts, pistachios, peanut butter

Dairy: Milk, cheese, cottage cheese, cream, yogurt, butter, ice cream, frozen yogurt, non-dairy creamers

Fat: Margarine, butter, shortening, processed oils, salad dressing, spreads

Beverages: Soda pop, alcoholic beverages, coffee, teas, all caffeinated beverages

Spices: Cayenne pepper, paprika

Sweeteners: White or brown refined sugar, honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup

I have been able to discover rice and soy substitutes for almost everything that I used to love to eat. Soy yogurts are really good. Soy ice cream (thought it tasted better than the "Rice Dream" kind) replaces regular ice cream and frozen yogurt. Rice chips replace all other kinds of chips. Just last night, I made spaghetti with brown rice pasta.

I use turkey or chicken substitutes for sausage, burgers, etc. Veggie burgers are good too.

I use Smart Balance spread on tapioca or rice bread. I use veggie slices instead of cheese on sandwiches. I usually use rice or tapioca bread slices, but I have found that multi-grain rolls don’t bother me if I just eat them occasionally.

If you happen to suffer from an inflammatory condition, I hope that this diet helps you, too.

Another Lesson Learned

If you have been reading this blog for quite a while, you may remember a previous post called A Dilemma At The Checkout Stand.

How ironic that almost two years later, the same issue came up again. Yes. It happened today at the same grocery store in the same checkout stand.

I don't usually shop there much. It used to be a kind of run down, very small store that didn't carry many of the products and brands that I like to buy. Plus, I changed dry cleaners so I usually go to a different grocery store in the same strip mall. But today, I needed to go to the bank and decided to pick up a few items at the store near the bank. I was actually very pleasantly surprised to see that the old store had been completely renovated and it looked really nice.

As I was loading my groceries on the conveyor belt, I noticed the huge pink ribbon placard attached to the cash register. I thought, "Oh no. Not again!" I was ready with my "no" answer if the checkstand lady asked me, "Would you like to donate..." But then, I thought that perhaps I should ask which breast cancer charity they were collecting donations for.

The pleasant lady asked, "Would you like to donate for breast cancer awareness?"

I said, "It depends on which organization the donations are going to. If it is the Susan G. Komen foundation, then my answer will have to be no."

She said it was for "Why Me."

I said, "Oh I'm so glad. You see, I found out that the Komen Foundation funnels money to side groups that support abortion. I cannot, in good conscience, support such a thing."

I like to know where my donation money is going.

[If you read the link above, even though the former breast cancer foundation sponsored by the store two years ago was a different one, it wasn't the Komen Foundation back then, either.]

The lady replied, "We changed foundations a while ago. I can understand that you want your money to go to a specific purpose and for what the charity claims it is for."

I was so glad to hear that! But she went on.

"We have people asking the same thing all the time."

Perhaps many others have become increasingly aware of the fact that some charitable foundations are guilty of funneling money to abberant side organizations. It is terrible to realize that oftentimes, a donor might unknowingly be sending money into a charitable organization's affiliate that conducts the awful practice of killing unborn babies. Abortion is the American Holocaust in action; a tragic sin that any Christian pro-life advocate would never want to support.

Since I wasn't very familiar with this particular organization, I looked it up online when I returned home. It is actually named "Y Me" (which explains the upside-down pink ribbon symbol).

I did some research at their website, but didn't find any evidence that they "funnel" their funds to abortion providers or facilities. However, I was disappointed to read one of their position papers that claims that:

Position
Based on a review of available data and scientific community agreement, Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization concludes that induced or spontaneous abortions have no overall effect on the risk of breast cancer. Y-ME, therefore, does not support any public policy that suggests the existence of such a link.

So, it would appear that it is not a pro-life organization.

This tells me that I need to be even more diligent when asking questions about charities. Next time, if I'm not absolutely sure that a charitable organization is pro-life, I will not donate. Period.

*******
Update:
According to Charity Navigator, it appears that Y-Me does not donate to any affiliates. That's good news.

But the CEO apparently makes a ton of money...

Don't like that very much. A huge amount goes to "expenses," too.

Just goes to show that I need to do the research beforehand, and find charities that aren't so involved with profit and don't soak up so much money and use it for "administrative" expenses and purposes.

Laws Promoting Sin Lead to Death

Caution! You are about to enter an "everybody's gonna be insulted and/or angry about this post" zone.

The term "tolerance" has become the buzzword of this decade. However, for most secular-progressives and liberals, the meaning of the word "tolerance" has been permanently changed to "total acceptance...or else." This is why America is in a quagmire of legislated sin. This is why so many decisions that are, quite frankly, horrible in nature and unpopular to the majority of Americans have been made into pagan-humanistic type laws. Through lawsuits supported by the ACLU and pushed through by liberal judicial fiat, laws promoting sinful behavior(s) that our Founding Fathers probably never could have even imagined would have come up within law decisions, are being pushed through under the guise of "tolerance" and so-called "rights."

We are suffering from the unintended (as well as intended) consequences of such laws today. Every subject from abortion, homosexual behavior "rights," euthansia, to sympathy for illegal immigrant law breakers leads to, and in many cases, results in, someone's death.

I received several emails from various people that discuss very different issues, but have in common the fact that laws promoting sin which are created by men's minds often lead to death.

Let's start with an innocuous subject; one that is entirely separate from the list above.

Bill Keller wrote about the popularity of The Sopranos series:

People love the HBO series the "Sopranos" for the same reason they love "The Godfather" trilogy. Even 34 years after it was released, "The Godfather" starring Marlon Brando is one of the most popular movies ever made. So what makes "The Godfather" movies, other organized crime movies like "Goodfellas," "Donnie Brasco," "Carlito's Way," and "Scarface" such a hit with people? After all, these are movies where the lead characters are part of organized crime, men who spend their life killing, stealing, cheating, and destroying other people's lives. They are involved in illegal businesses such as bookmaking, prostitution, extortion, selling drugs, and any other illegal activity you can name.

THESE ARE MEN WHO LIVE THEIR LIVES IN COMPLETE REBELLION TO GOD AND HIS WORD, SO WHY ARE THEY SO POPULAR? PEOPLE LOVE SIN MORE THAN THEY LOVE GOD!!!

The popularity of these fictional crime bosses like Tony Soprano can be directly linked to the popularity of the real-life crime bosses like Charles "Lucky" Luciano, Myer Lansky, and Bugsy Siegel who ran New York in the '30s, to Al Capone who ran Chicago in the '30s, to all the men who ran the various families across the nation throughout the decades. Men like Giancana, Marcello, Trafficante, Genovese, Gambino, Bonanno, Lucchese, Colombo, Accardo, and Gotti to old, calculating, evil, and brutal men who without conscience or mercy spend their lives killing and destroying others. There is absolutely nothing glamorous or redeeming about how they live. There is nothing special about them. They are simply men who have chosen to live a life of crime and live in violation of society's laws as well as God's!

Hollywood and television are largely responsible for how we look at these criminals. They have glorified and glamorized the lives of these men, often turning them into sympathetic figures. The movies and television have showed the human side of these men while almost justifying and excusing what their life is really about. Make no mistake my friend, these are cold, calculating, evil, and brutal men who without conscience or mercy spend their lives killing and destroying others. There is absolutely nothing glamorous or redeeming about how they live. There is nothing special about them. They are simply men who have chosen to live a life of crime and live in violation of society's laws as well as God's!

He makes a great point! His conclusion is unmistakable. PEOPLE LOVE SIN MORE THAN THEY LOVE GOD!!!

Now, I know what you are all thinking. Keller was discussing and describing illegal activity. You may want to argue that my original list does not include anything illegal (except for the illegal alien issue) and therefore, should not be named as sinful and/or compared with illegal activity. But you are wrong! It is not man's laws that count...it's God's Law! Through the Laws of God comes the knowledge of sin. Man, creating any "law" that now labels a former sin as no longer a sin is a LIE! It may be legal, but it's still sin in God's eyes.

What's worse is that once a law that promote a sin that leads to death is on the books, such a law can be abused and extended far beyond its original intent. For example, on the question of abortion, why can't a child be killed outside the womb since his/her life is considered expendable while inside the mother's womb?

Greg Koukl has a great article over at TownHall.com that discusses the fact that "partial-birth abortion" is not really about abortion. It is infanticide! His reasoning on it cannot be denied!

This leads us to the subject of euthanasia. In another article, I was reading about a desperate mother who wants more time with her terminally ill 17-month-old child. But a Texas court may side with the hospital officials that want to terminate baby Emilio's life immediately! If that doesn't convince you that we are living in a culture of death, I fear that nothing will!

Children are under attack in record numbers these days. Even people whom we thought we could trust with our children are often filled with evil intent!!

From the parade of male and female teachers who are discovered to be molesting young teen boys and girls, to pederast gay priests who molested hundreds of young boys, to children being kidnapped, molested, raped, sodomized, killed and thrown away like they were garbage by child predators, to children and teens being stolen and given over into the sex slave trade; there is no doubt about the seriousness of this growing epidemic! We could list hundreds of terrible, excruciatingly-painful examples. I'm not positive of the accuracy of the latest statistics, but I have heard that one out of every 10 children will most likely be molested before they reach adulthood. THAT'S AWFUL!!

For the latest agregious example, read about a psychiatrist who molested over 21 children over the course of several years. You must read Glenn Beck's Real Story from last night's T.V. show. Here's a written copy about the Real Story segment:

A 75 year old child psychiatrist in California was arrested last week on charges that he molested three patients who were ages 9, 11 and 12 at the time. It's an absolutely disgusting case, but the worst part is that there are likely lots of other victims who will never get the justice they deserve.

The Real Story is that this monster -- and let me give you his name in case there are still victims out there, Doctor William Ayres -- has allegedly been molesting kids under his care for so long that the statute of limitations has run out for many of them.

Under a California law that went into effect in January 2006, child victims can pursue criminal charges only up until their 28th birthday. Before that law, they only had 10 years from the day of the molestation.

But, either way, why is there a statue of limitations at all??? I've been saying for a while that we are separating ourselves in this country. But that separation goes deeper than the elephant and the donkey...it's a disconnection from our own laws. We say we care about children, but then we go and create arbitrary statutes of limitations for a crime that changes their lives forever.

Are you telling me that these monsters aren't going to molest again? Are you telling me that the pain of child rape ends when they're 28? If you believe that, I want you to send me a letter because I guarantee that it'll be written with something like pig's urine or crayons. Honestly, the number of non-insane people who will send in letters will be zero. In fact, I'll bet I get more coherent, more well-reasoned letters from people who believe this guy should be castrated with a pickle fork than I do from the apologists.

When a child is molested, a part of them dies. To me, that means the statute of limitations for child molestation should never die.

Did you read that last paragraph? When a child is molested, a part of them dies! Yet, we have the ACLU defending such monsters as the despicable group called NAMBLA!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE PEOPLE??? WHY AREN'T MORE PEOPLE OUTRAGED ABOUT THIS?? Whistleblower analysts like Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly on cable are the only high level newsmen who cover these awful occurences. The ACLU is a disgusting, anti-child protection organization that places the "rights" of sinful, porn-saturated evil and despicable men over and above the God-given rights of children not to harmed! It's abominable...

By now, most have heard about the verbal battle between Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera about the illegal alien who killed two teen girls with his car while driving drunk. Bill's Talking Points tell us exactly why many politicians do not want to enforce the existing illegal immigrant laws and thus have established anarchy through sanctuary cities across the U.S.

Is this going on because "tolerance" trumps the lives of American citizens? Partially. Many politicians on both side of the aisle would use the impression of wanting to promote "compassion" for these people. But the bigger issue involves, money, voting advantage, corporate greed and cheap labor.

Remember the classic movie called, "A Christmas Story?" The director of that movie and his son were recently killed in a drunk driving incident by an illegal immigrant. Where's Hollywood's outrage about this??? They pick and choose what angers them...and saddens them....I guess. Click on this WorldNetDaily link to read more detail about this tragic incident that has happened because illegal immigration laws are not enforced in Los Angeles; thus, once again, another illegal alien ends up killing two more Americans with his vehicle while driving drunk.

AWFUL!!

My friend Jaded once posted a comment that showed statics about just how many Americans are killed each year by illegal immigrants. If I recall correctly, the statistic showed that more Americans are killed (in various ways) each year, here in America, by illegal aliens than the total number of soldiers who have died while fighting in the entire Iraq war! [Note to Jaded: Please correct this, if needed - thanks.]

[Update: Jaded responded, corrected my statement and clarified what she originally stated in the comment section. Thanks Jaded!]

Here is a copy of the comment:

Hi Christine,

I did post a statistic about deaths and violent crime in America, and the result was that you had a greater chance of being randomly assaulted, raped or murdered here than in Iraq, but it had nothing to do with illegal immigrants. (There have currently been well over 100 murders in Philadelphia alone since January 1st) More people were victims of violent crime and murder in this nation since this war began than the totals of the same crimes in the middle of a war zone. This includes all military deaths related to the war. Does that make me a fan of the war? No. But, I think we need to look at the entire picture...the streets of our cities are war zones and we need to do something to stop it!

I have also posted about my personal opinions on illegal immigrants, but it was separate and apart from the crime statistics, and merely my opinion. My opinion is that when someone comes here with complete disregard for the laws of our nation, feeling entitled to pick and choose which laws should apply to them and which shouldn't, that isn't the type of character our country needs. It is also a slap in the face to every citizen and immigrant who had to jump through hoops to get here legally. If someone doesn't respect our laws in the first place, that person doesn't deserve amnesty. That is merely my opinion.

And frankly, I find the portrayal of Italians in shows like the Sopranos to be offensive. I'm half Italian, and that's not really how we are. I'm also almost half Spanish and a little bit Russian, and all of my family came here legally from Italy, Russia and Spain. So, no, I obviously don't have anything against Hispanics either when I'm focusing on the illegal immigrant situation. My grandparents on both sides were the first generation in their respective families to be born here. All of my family came to the US after 1900, and it was a struggle, but they followed the law because they respected the country and what it stands for. To break the law in order to be here then demand special treatment is unbelievable to me.

My last example will most likely anger most liberals, friends of gay people etc. ; simply because such a topic resides at the top of the "tolerance" category. But it needs to be said. Please understand that my concern is for the children.

It was because of the blatant promotion of homosexual behavior acceptance and advocacy in public schools that I got involved in activism against such an issue in the first place. I'm active in such concern not only because it is a behavior which is regarded as sinful in the Bible, but also because such behavior causes rampant STD's, HIV, AIDS illness, disease, and death. Promoting such a behavior as "normal," "natural," and even going so far as calling it "acceptable," and "desirable," ignores the fact that many ex-gay people would warn the public that such activity is none of those things; in fact, it is the exact opposite! In addition, homosexual behavior often causes emotional problems, drug use and abuse, alcohol abuse, promiscuous and unhealthy sexual deviancy encounters, all which affected their bodies, souls, minds and spirits.

Religious convictions are not the only reason to deter such behavior. The physical consequences should be enough for school officials to shut down every gay-straight alliance in public schools. The "tolerance" issue which is being marketed and promoted under the guise of "safety" for students does not include the warnings of how gay sexual behavior can destroy their bodies and lead to disease, deformity and death.

Please take the time to read this post at Laigle's forum. Then, be sure to follow this this link to a pdf article entitled, Federal Distortion Of Homosexual Footprint (Ignoring Early Gay Death?)

As the post at Laigle's forum shares:

...Paul Cameron and Kirk Cameron, both Ph.D.’s who for years have been exposing the truth about homosexuality and its fallout (and suffering severe consequences from the liberal establishment), came out with a study (Federal Distortion of Homosexual Footprint) that shows the following:

Whereas smoking shortens the life expectancy of smokers by 1 to 7 years, the homosexual lifestyle shortens the life of practicing homosexuals by 24 years.

The conclusion the authors reach is certainly reasonable:
“Given the greatly reduced lifespan for homosexuals, school children should be strongly and consistently warned about the dangers of homosexuality even more so than smoking. Those school districts which are introducing pro-gay curricula need to rethink their priorities.”
I think that Laigle points out what all convervatives know to be true:

The Left is a species that is not known to listen to reason. In fact, they are notorious for inventing their own facts and, as you know from personal experience, viciously attacking and smearing any professional whose findings are incompatible with their ideology. The only thing that could possibly motivate these radicals is a successful lawsuit brought against them. After all, as I pointed out in the above-referenced article, the thing that brought down the cigarette industry was a huge lawsuit that cost them billions.

You are absolutely right in your data, gentlemen. We are dealing with a deadly lifestyle here and the government is ignoring the consequences. But let’s stop being polite with people who have never shown any regard for human life—from abortion to euthanasia to stem cell research—and mobilize the ex-gay movement to fight this war to win!

The time to stay silent about this is over.

Remember what Jesus said about "those who shall offend one of these little ones?"

Mat 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Mar 9:42 And whosoever shall offend one of [these] little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

Luk 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

One day, the effects of evil will be gone forever. Meanwhile, as it is stated at my other website, we are to be actively engaged in the world for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ:

The Bible further instructs us to preach the whole Word of God (2 Timothy 4:2), which includes being the salt of the earth and asserting a moral influence. In this age of moral relativism, the person who holds a pro-moral position is often attacked or ridiculed. If a story can be slanted to the left of the political or religious spectrum, it will be. If an event involves abortion or homosexuality, the news will be slanted in a pro-abortion and pro-homosexual direction.

In 1992, Dan Quayle was ridiculed and called "arrogant," "aggressive," and "offensive" because he argued for objective moral truths - not personal preferences. "This subtle distinction," says Chuck Colson, "is at the heart of the moral conflicts dividing our culture today."

Ask God what He would have you do in this centuries-old war between the wisdom of God and the wisdom of man. The powerful pagan forces that opposed Elijah (1 Kings 18), that fought our Lord (Matthew 16) and that battled Paul (Acts 17) are among us still; forces that seek to throw off the moral cords of God (Psalm 2) and declare themselves liberated - only to find themselves slaves to their own passions and ideas (2 Peter 2:19). I dedicate this site to alert Christians to the pagan dogmas that exist today. We are in a battle for the hearts, minds, souls, and spirits of our children. How can you help to save the United States of America for the sake of our children and grandchildren?

My prayer is that God will open the eyes of His people to the need to know and defend the one worldview that speaks to reality - to the real world - namely, Biblical Christianity. Every believer knows that some day the kingdoms of this world will "become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever" (Revelation 11:15). It is each Christian's moral duty to live, wait, watch, and work for such a time and especially to manifest the character of Christ in our present circumstances. He is our Savior, Lord, and King, and His love needs to be shed abroad in our hearts and in our world - now.

Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast [it] into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Know Where Donation Money Goes

Think you know where the funds that you donate to a specific cause go? Think again! Things are not always as they appear to be. For example, take a look at this unfortunate news:

3-29-2007

'Race for Cure' Continues Funding Planned Parenthood

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's "Race for the Cure" is coming to Waco, Texas, on Saturday, and a state pro-life group wants everyone to know where their money is going.

John Pischiotta of Pro-Life Waco is spreading the word that the foundation donates large sums to Planned Parenthood.

"We're trying to raise awareness on the link between abortion and breast cancer, and point out that it is totally inappropriate for the Susan G. Komen Foundation to be making grants to the country's No. 1 abortion provider," Pischiotta told OneNewsNow.com.

*******

Doesn't it seem like this "Race for the Cure" for breast cancer is absolutely EVERYWHERE these days? I see donation sponsors on products at the grocery store, in clothing stores, in ads in the newspaper and coupons, on websites, in ads on TV, newspapers and magazines. It seems like they have an endless reach towards the public! But when I found out that some funds are often funneled to abortion providers liked Planned Parenthood, I was totally disgusted!!

I have brought this issue up many times on this blog. Past posts here include:

A Dilemma At The Checkout Stand

The Issue That Won't Go Away

Unafraid of Condemning the Death of Innocents

Choose Life, Your Mother Did

Abortion Kills Babies, Hurts Women

It is amazing to me that a breast cancer research group would raise funds to fight it; yet donate funds to organizations that support and perform abortions. Science is showing that women who have abortions are more at risk for developing breast cancer!

What are we to make of all of this?

The Susan G. Komen foundation is a money making machine that doesn't even care that it is funding abortion providers with the money it makes via these "races for the cure" for breast cancer. That's deceptive and fraudulent, in my book of ethics.

I recently completed reading WND's Whistleblower Magazine on Ending Abortion: How the pro-life side will win the war. It was certainly very encouraging to read! One particular article, which is an excerpt from a book written by Jack Willke, M.D. "Back to the Drawing Board: The Future of the Pro-Life Movement," included the failures, the successes, the future and the conclusion that will eventually lead to a future victory for life.

Here are some of the successes:

Abortion remains the central social issue of our time.

Abortion in the U.S. is still a dirty word. An abortionist in the U.S. is still an outcast, especially within the medical profession. This is not true in many other nations, and it is an important deterrnet to abortion in this country.

Few U.S. hospitals still do abortions, which are largely confined to freestanding facilities staffed by abortionists, who are, again, not part of the respected medical community.

Is this a baby? This is no longer a question. Ultrasound and other medical advances have been incredibly important in this, but the pro-life movement was of central importance in teaching the nation, beyond any question of scientific doubt, that human life begins at fertilization.

Dr. Willke goes on to describe how religious groups have been able to work together on this issue. Religious radio is totally pro-life and a shining triumph in the U.S.

Here's the best part:

Willke writes:

Our movement has not just survived, but grown in the face of a militant, dedicated and powerful pro-abortion media and academia. It has grown, too, in spite of the much greater financial resources of the abortion industry.

One of the best tools being used today at counseling centers is the 4-D ultrasound machine which produces a crystal clear image of a mother's preborn baby. Sidewalk counseling is bringing in hundreds of women who see their unborn baby and realize that the pro-death crowd has lied to them. It is not a "bunch of cells," or a "blob of tissue," ITS A BABY!!

The myths of the pro-death crowd are being exposed, and refuted, as well. Prominent converts to the pro-life cause (Dr. Bernard Nathanson; Norma McCorvey) have become important leaders in the movement.

Dr. Willke concludes:

In the end, it will be the commitment and dedication of those within the pro-life movement that carry the day. Their devotion and perseverence are far beyond those within the pro-abortion movement. Without the media, the government and money, the pro-abortion movement collapses. Their strength is a mile wide but only a yard deep.

Yes! Changing hearts and minds on this issue is the key to making abortion unthinkable. It is my hope and prayer that the new scientific tools we have (such as the 4-D real time imaging of pre-born babies) will reveal how horrific abortion really is and thus, finally break through the calloused minds and hearts of anyone and everyone involved in the awful business of killing pre-born children.

Dying To Be Thin?

Mark over at Chester Street has some pictures up of two "stars" who are battling that Hollyweird lie promoting ultra thinness as an attractive look. Such lies push women into that dreaded state of being "anorexic."

Yes. When you look at those pictures, we can see how lies being told about what constitutes an "attractive look" in the acting and modeling industry is more accurately a spiral down towards health disasters. Unsuspecting teen, young women (and the girls that wish to emulate them) are headed towards infertility (often a devastating side effect of extreme weight loss) and even towards death.

Do you think that Nicole Ritchie thinks she looks good in that photo?

From what I have learned from people who have experienced the roller coaster ride of either anorexia-nervosa or bulimia, oftentimes a sufferer like Ritchie would look in the mirror and fear that she is still "too fat"!!

Awful...

Now, I will most likely get bashed for sharing some of the comments I made over at Mark's blog here, but it needs to be said.

Such a disturbing post!

So many young women have become infertile and find that they can't have children because their bodily functions start to shut down in a "prior to death" way. It's so extremely sad!

Since I have a 19 year old daughter in the acting and modeling industry, I have seen the pressure placed upon her to be extremely thin. Fortunately, she has a good head on her shoulders and is working with a personal trainer who encourages her to eat small portions 6 times a day and work out to gain muscle and lose body fat. As the last paragraph in the this article reveals, eating healthy and exercising properly is the healthy way to attain a nice shape.

Thankfully, not all young women are falling for the lie.

Nicole Ritchie looks as bad as the starving children we see on TV in the Christian missionary help ads! Someone needs to rescue that young woman from her current journey towards an early death!

In the past, I have read several articles where it is suspected that some (not all) gay men clothing designers are partly responsible for this anorexia and bulimia epidemic amongst young women. The desire to be a size "2" or "0" (which is totally unhealthy for a 5' 7" woman!) seems to be foremost in the minds of would-be, up and coming, and current, actresses and models.

Why is this so?

Many gays admire that "young boy look" and thus apply that way of thinking to the female bodies of models.

Unfortunately, women in the designer clothing industry, who urge young girls who are 5' 8" and up to weigh in at an unhealthy 110 lbs. (and under!) have also fallen for the same insane lie. All they care about is how the clothes "drape" on the model...not whether or not she has a healthy diet.

Fortunately, there are a few designers, like Giorgio Armani, who are willing to speak out against this unhealthy and dangerous modeling trend.

It is a dangerous trend that needs to be brought out into the open, countered, and stopped...for the sakes of many young women (and the girls that want to emulate them) who are dying young because of it!

The Soy Controversy

Did you hear about the article that stirred up so much controversy? It was an article done by Jim Rutz over on World Net Daily.

My thanks must go to Ebsfwan for bringing the original article to my attention over at my message board forum. The title was enough to send any gay rights activist into a tizzy!

Soy is making kids 'gay.'

It might be a good idea to read that article first, then click on Rutz's follow-up article called The trouble with soy - part 2.

Be sure to go to the links included in that article so that you can see how much of a controversy this is turning out to be!

Perhaps you may be inclined to laugh off the "gay kids" connection, but after reading the following part from Rutz's second article, I think that we can't deny the science behind the fear too much soy can hurt us!

Article excerpt:

If you think you don't eat much soy, think again. Though only 15 percent of us eat a mostly-soy product once a week, 55-70 percent of all processed foods in supermarkets now have some soy in them. You can't escape it. Soybean oil accounts for a whopping 79 percent of the edible fats used annually in the U.S.

Health-conscious people are likely to eat the most. Even a moderate vegetarian or soy fan would think nothing of tossing down eight ounces of tofu, a quarter cup of roasted soy nuts and a glass of soymilk daily, and that's far, far more than any normal Japanese individual would be likely to consume.

But the worst victims of soy are babies. Per kilogram of body weight, the average Japanese in 2000 ate 0.47 milligrams of soy isoflavones daily, while the average U.S. baby drinking soy formula got 6.25 milligrams. Isoflavones are testosterone-suppressing female hormones.

What is that doing to their sex organs and their sexual orientation? Tune in next week. The story gets worse, much worse.

If you would like to sound off on this issue, participate in today's WND Poll.

Just goes to show that what you don't know about what you are eating can hurt you!

What do you think?

Christine

P.S. I'm so glad that way back when...I breast-fed my babies!! Just an additional good health benefit (besides the fact that the baby's immunity system builds up) reason to do so!

The Issue That Won't Go Away

There are two moral and political issues that we could include under the "issues that won't go away" title. The first is abortion, the second is homosexuality. This post will focus on the abortion issue.

I just finished reading an excerpt from an upcoming book by Jane Chastain, titled "Abortion, the Bible and the Church." You can go to WorldNetDaily to read the entire article, however, for this post I want to concentrate on the following portion.

Quote from article:

"Abortion is an issue fought by the religious right and championed by the religious left. Who are these people and where do most people of faith fit in? Most remain mired in the mushy middle. This is a dangerous place to be because it is moral quicksand.

When it comes to the issue of abortion, Christians can be divided into two categories: those who have carefully examined the issue, biblically and scientifically, and those who have not.

Those who have not fall into these five sub-categories:

Those who maintain the Bible is silent on this issue

Those who accept only certain portions of the Bible as true

Those who choose to believe that a pregnancy is nothing more than a glob of tissue – a collection of cells – which can be swept away at will

Those who maintain that, because it is a political issue, the church can't touch it – therefore, there is no need to spend valuable time looking into it

Those who find it simply too painful to examine because they already have participated in a decision to end a life

Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973, before ultrasound imagining and fiber optics gave us a window to the womb. It was based on a "world is flat" theory. This is why the left is so nervous about this issue and willing to go to extremes to have only political ideologues pledged to defend Roe – not the Constitution – appointed to the Supreme Court.

James Madison, the primary author of our Constitution, said:

"We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.

The Sixth Commandment is "You shall not murder." The broad definition of murder is the intentional killing of an innocent human being."

It now is an accepted scientific fact that a "fetus" is alive, human and unique. Most atheists have no problem dealing with the truth of abortion because, in their economy, life, or at least some life, really isn't worth much. It's survival of the fittest.

In 1985, a mere 12 years after Roe, Newsweek magazine devoted much of its Jan. 14 issue to a special report, "America's Abortion Dilemma." It states, "It is one thing for the born to recognize the unborn as human; however, and quite another for society to vest them with moral or legal rights as persons."

Virginia Abernethy of Vanderbilt University's School of Medicine said, "I don't think abortion is ever wrong. As long as an individual is completely dependent upon the mother, it's not a person."

Newsweek pointed out that this view is shared by other pro-choice theorists, who believe that an individual becomes a person only when he or she becomes a responsible moral agent – around three or four in Abernethy's judgment. Until then, Abernethy thinks infants – like fetuses – are nonpersons. She believes that defective children, such as those with Down's syndrome, may never become persons. "The claim they have on persons," Abernethy says, "is compassion, not a moral right to life."

The left isn't anxious to publicly defend this extreme position because it is politically untenable. That is why the issue is framed as one of "privacy" or "civil rights."

Today in America, 85 percent of us self-identify as Christians. However, it is the 9 percent of self-professed atheists who rule this issue.

Why?

Atheists aren't afraid to look at the facts, while the vast majority of the people in churches simply refuse to look."

End of quote.

*******

As was very evident in my blog post, "Dilemma at the Checkout Stand", emotions run very high on this issue.

I have lost friends and acquaintances over this issue. I have endured the scorn and condemnation of fellow Christians because of this issue. I have had discussions with non-Christians on this issue and some have been very meaningful and heartfelt, while others ended up in an explosion of anger.

Why is this so? What makes this issue so volatile, argumentative , divisive and fills people with rage?

I think that the following quote from the article says a lot:

"Newsweek pointed out that this view is shared by other pro-choice theorists, who believe that an individual becomes a person only when he or she becomes a responsible moral agent – around three or four in Abernethy's judgment. Until then, Abernethy thinks infants – like fetuses – are nonpersons. She believes that defective children, such as those with Down's syndrome, may never become persons. "The claim they have on persons," Abernethy says, "is compassion, not a moral right to life."

I would extend this "compassion" argument even further. I would say that the left, pro-abortion advocates believe that they are taking the moral high ground (so to speak) by being compassionate towards the woman who seeks an abortion in order to get out of the dilemma she has brought herself into (with the help of the impregnator, mind you) and THIS "need" of hers outweighs any other need (e.g. the unborn child's helplessness, no voice to articulate that he/she WANTS to live) purpose, or moral view that would trump what she can do 'with her own body'.

My view is that a woman who gets pregnant LOSES that right to do 'with her own body' what she wills. That life inside of her is NOT part of her body, it is separate and will become (if allowed) a life of his/her own when ready to leave that body.

With all of the birth control available today, there really is no reason to have to use abortion as a 'too late' birth control method. As I stated in my last post, there can be exceptions such as dangerous ectopic pregnancies, the mother would die, rape and incest. But 98% of abortions are NOT done for any of those reasons.

In 1973, I remember hearing the supporters of Roe vs. Wade saying that legalized abortion will be, "the lesser of two evils". They also said that they wanted to make abortion safe, legal and rare. They got the legal part, but safe and rare are lies.

It is fatal to the baby, of course, but statistics are now showing how botched abortions are taking the choice and ability for women to have future children away from them as well as the ultimate tragedy of death for women who's abortions have gone wrong. Also, go to Botched abortion survivors

and read about abortion survivors.

Also, look at the mental anguish of those who have regretted having an abortion.
Regretting That Abortion

Abortion is not safe.

Rare?

Since Roe vs. Wade legalized abortion in all 50 states in 1973, over 47,964,944 (the number as of 10/6/05 at 10:15 a.m. Pacific time) babies have been killed. Go to this site to see the amount of abortions that have been added to this total since my post.

Survivors of the abortion holocaust

That is a website set up by children who were born since legalized abortion and consider themselves survivors of the abortion holocaust.

Their website page states:

"Survivors is a Christian, Pro-life activism organization designed to both educate and activate High School and College age individuals.

If you were born after 1972, we challenge you to consider yourself a Survivor of the Abortion Holocaust. It's time to take an active stand on behalf of those that have already been lost and for those scheduled to die."
