Tim Tebow Meets Wounded Warrior - U.S. Army Ranger Romy Camargo

The Fox News video about this meeting titled it, "Wounded warrior meets Tebow." But when you listen to what is said on the video, it is obvious that Tebow believes that his status as an NFL football player pales in comparison to this man's status as a wounded war hero.

The accompanying article title is more accurate, Florida Wounded Warrior gets surprise visit from Tim Tebow.

Excerpt:

When Tebow read about what Camargo had endured, getting shot in the neck and being left quadriplegic during a combat mission in Afghanistan, he wanted to meet the wounded soldier.

"He's a real, true-life hero," said Tebow. "So it's very special to have the chance to hang out with him...He's been an inspiration to a lot of people and he'll continue to be an inspiration to me and so many more, so it's real exciting to get a chance to meet him."

Tebow called Camargo a true American hero.

"For me, it's so humbling, to see kids and they're like, you're my hero. I do nothing special, athletes do nothing special. We play a silly game," Tebow said. "But here's someone who put his life on the line for our country -- that's a real hero."

Hat Tip: Fox News Channel

P.S.  I can already imagine the commentators on Sports Center (a.k.a. the Tebow haters) going apoplectic over Tebow's statement, "we play a silly game" instead of focusing on what really matters about this meeting.

Tebow Is Just Loving Jesus and Playing Football

Last night, I was rooting for the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow; despite the fact that they were playing against one of the top teams and best quarterbacks in the NFL. My son follows all of the teams closely and even though he is a fan of Tebow and the Broncos, prior to the game he predicted that the Broncos might lose 52-0. As shocking as that prediction was, I thought that if defeated, the Broncos would not lose that bad.  As it turned out, my son wasn't too far from the final score of 45-10.

I became a bit upset as half-time approached and my daughter quickly brought me back to reality when she said, "It's only a football game!" True. Very true! I was hoping for something that probably wasn't possible considering all of the circumstances surrounding this game.

It seemed to me that the Patriots were being particularly brutal in their attack machine, but that's part of game. It also appeared to me that quarterback Tom Brady was passing with a vengeance. That turns out to be true because my son told me that their team had lost the last 3 "first" playoff games; even though they won quite a few over the past ten years. Brady's determination turned into setting new records in yesterday's game.

It was interesting to hear one of the announcers during the half-time show claim that Brady may have been upset about all of the press coverage that Tebow got in the lead up to this game. After all, Brady and his team have been three-time Superbowl champs and Brady himself is a two-time MVP. It might be difficult to know if the sports caster's opinion is true or not, but at the end of the game I saw over a dozen cameramen and/or photographers following Tebow on the field.  Tim was filmed walking around the field looking for someone. Minutes later Tebow and his entourage of photographers found him greeting his friend on the Patriots team.  They shook hands and Tim probably congratulated the Patriots team member for the decisive victory. That is just the kind of person that Tebow is.

The media firestorm over Tim Tebow (including the criticism that he is outspoken about his Christian faith) was created by the media - not Tim Tebow. The public can decide whether they absolutely can't stand Tim Tebow, just hate Tim Tebow, are confused about Tim Tebow and the public support he generates, love Tim Tebow, or just like him - all of which is often based on their own personal views and/or biases regarding religious expression in the public arena.

I can really appreciate what Meanderings of a Restless Mind had to say; including the cautions that are included about any type of idol worship of the guy. But I don't think that is the case with most genuine Christians. When a fellow believer breaks out in strong faith and has a huge platform in which to share deep faith, it is essential to know that he/she does so in order to point to Jesus Christ, NOT themselves. Being grateful to God is not selfish. And good works come from those who are grateful, follow the Great Commission, and want to share all that they can about Jesus and the Bible with others. That is a self-less kind of faith! And that type of faith is harder for the naysayers to logically criticize, even though they will try to do so with venom and contempt.

Just a journey through life

That’s why I’m a Tebow fan. Not because I think he’s the ‘chosen one’ but because I look at him and I see the real deal. I see a guy who’s in love with Jesus and doesn’t care if people know. He’s living his walk just like the rest of us. He has, however, been given a much bigger stage than the average Christ follower like myself. All eyes, Christian and non, are on him. And he’s doing an incredible job standing firm in his beliefs, if i do say so myself. How he stays humble and grounded through all this popularity, be it positive or not, is a sign of his faith and his strong reliance on God in his life. He’s using what God has given him and giving it right back by being an example of a true Christian life. And THAT is why I’m a Tim Tebow fan.

If the Broncos lose to New England on Saturday he’s still going to be Tim Tebow the Christian football player.

God will still love him. And so will I.

While reading another post at the following link, I found a post that asks the question:

Can someone please write in comments an explanation for the whole Tebow phenomenon for those of us who don’t follow sports?

Many diverse and interesting explanations. However, the following comment helps explain why the pro-abortion lobby hates this young man so much.

Marie · 2 days ago

"More than 24 years ago, Pam and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries in the Philippines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant. Doctors suggested that she consid…er aborting t…he baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.

While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll make him a preacher.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam’s youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Philippines. He also plays football. Pam’s son is Tim Tebow."

What Tim Tebow does off the football field is far more important than what he does on the field

Is It OK For Black Athletes to Be Unabashedly Christian, But Not Whites?

For quite some time now I had been wondering why certain people of a certain race can freely express their Christian faith openly in the professional sports arena, yet another person of a different race gets criticized, scrutinized, blasted, mocked, shunned and even verbally assaulted because of his faith.

After reading Three Ugly Truths Exposed by the Tebow Assault article over at American Thinker, I found one commenter who apparently had been wondering the same thing.

Comment from American Thinker:

T.S. Yesterday 03:10 AM

The discrepancy between media coverage of NBA players' public religiosity vs. Tebow's public religiosity doesn't have anything to do with the NBA being more open to (Christian) religion or traditional values than the NFL. It's about race. It's OK for black people -- basketball players, football players, entertainers, politicians, etc. -- to be openly Christian. It's not, however, OK for white people to be openly Christian. And yes, it's really that simple. That's why it's OK for Barack Obama to go to Jeremiah Wright's church, but not OK for Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry or George W. Bush to go to church.

Now don't be mistaken, the media and the arbiters of our culture don't actually like the fact that Christianity is still strong in the black community. They'd much prefer if blacks were secular and/or antagonistic toward Christianity. Black Islam has historically been celebrated (aside from Louis Farrakhan's anti-Semitism), but black Christianity is still tolerated. And the reason it's tolerated because it's, well, black. So since the "mainstream" media can't attack black Christians, they double up on white Christians.

The one thing that commenter "T.S." left out is the fact that it is NOT alright for a conservative black Christian man or woman to speak of his/her faith in the public arena of politics. The blacks who are left alone regarding their religious faith in Christianity are usually leftist, Democrats that the secular progressives (sec-progs) just about tolerate in public. I wonder whether or not the rabid sec-progs mock them in secret?

The hatred often spewed towards those (of ANY race, color, nationality etc.) who express their BIBLICAL Christian faith openly, share the gospel freely, and aren't ashamed of Jesus Christ has continually been ratcheted up every year. The times here in the U.S. where the media has a field day attacking the Christian faith is very apparent during the Christmas and Easter seasons.  The Bible tells us that such things are prophesied as "the signs of the times" and will increase as we get closer to the Rapture and subsequent return of Jesus Christ.

Have you noticed that the disgusting excuse for a "man" - the wretched Bill Maher - curses and mocks a white Christian young man like Tebow, and still keeps his job at HBO? I will NEVER subscribe to HBO ever again. I dropped it decades ago, mostly because their programming was even offensive back then. And now that they have this despicable little man Maher employed there, I'm glad that they don't get any money from our family. Since I don't watch Maher, but only hear of his rants via the news media, I wonder whether or not he has ever verbally abused a black Christian man (who isn't conservative) who publicly displays his faith in Jesus Christ after any pro-sporting event victory?

If the answer is "no", then why the double standard? Could it only have to do with race? Or is there something more that we should consider?

Maybe BubbaBBQ has a good point:

...Now you have Tim Tebow. Do they embrace him? Nope! Why? He is different. He isn't pretty, he is clean cut, he deflects all glory directed to himself and is very humble. And he is unabashedly Christian. Funny how the analysts all hate him and yet he wins over fans, teammates and foes alike.

99 Percent? Top 25 Occupy Wall Street Backers Worth Over $4 Billion
.

Excerpt:

Occupy Wall Street attacks income inequality and the richest 1 percent, adopting as its slogan ''we are the 99 percent.'' In October, its protesters staged a ''millionaires march' 'in New York City, parading to the homes of wealthy citizens such as Rupert Murdoch and David Koch. But only some riches bother the Occupiers, who have ignored the massive wealth of celebrities in their own ranks.
The top 25 richest celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street, according to the website Celebrity Net Worth, possess a combined net worth just over $4 billion.
While JP Morgan and Chase banker Jamie Dimon (worth $200 million) was one of the targets of the ''millionaires march,'' he has a net worth less than five of the celebrities supporting OWS.
That's not surprising. Many of the celebrities supporting Occupy Wall Street seem to be oblivious to the amount of wealth they possess.
Comedienne Roseanne Barr, (worth $80 million), was quoted quite literally calling for the heads of wealthy, declaring:''I do say that I am in favor of the return of the guillotine and that is for the worst of the worst of the guilty. I first would allow the guilty bankers to pay, you know, the ability to pay back anything over $100 million [of] personal wealth because I believe in a maximum wage of $100 million. And if they are unable to live on that amount of that amount then they should, you know, go to the re-education camps and if that doesn't help, then being beheaded.''
Barr inadvertently called for the heads of 13 celebrities supporting the Occupy Wall Street who make more than $100 million from singer Miley Cyrus to writer Stephen King.

Since Roseanne Barr's name could be included in the definition of words like CRAZY and IGNORANT, please read the entire article at
Newsbusters for more liberal secular prog. hypocrisy by celebrities.

which includes an interview she did with one "occupier."

So....why don't these EXTREMELY RICH celebrities who supposedly support the OWS movement re-distribute THEIR OWN WEALTH to help these people....HMMMMM????

The hypocrisy is really laughable; but at the same time it is so sad because these people have been severely duped by GeorgEVIL Soros and ObaMARXIST.

Tim Tebow: Not Ashamed of Jesus

Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of football. I watch it occasionally and have attended a few games over the years at the stadium; but sitting through an entire game being broadcast on T.V. is not one of my favorite things to do on a Thursday night.

However, last night my husband called out to me from the other room and said,  "Honey you've got to see this!" He had re-wound the segment where Tim Tebow and players from both teams were on bended knee in a circle after the end of the game, praying to Jesus Christ!

I noticed a blog post tonight over at Now The End Begins: Is Tim Tebow Playing Football Or Bringing Revival?

Obviously, Tebow is doing both! He is playing football; despite the fact that many pundits wrote him off earlier in his career because his passing percentage is a low 44%.  But more importantly, in the realm of things eternal, Tebow is also bringing revival in the country simply because he is paying honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

This may sound a bit off-topic, but I think it fits here to describe another person who easily shared her faith with others through her successful company. Decades ago, when Mary Kay Ash - founder of the Mary Kay Cosmetics direct sales business - was being interviewed, she was asked by CBS's Morley Safer of 60 Minutes, "Are you, in fact, using God to sell cosmetics?" Mary Kay answered, "I hope not. I certainly hope not. I hope that He is using me instead."

Brilliant response! And knowing what I know about the woman (met her several times back in the 1980's) I could tell that her answer, and her faith in Jesus Christ was genuine.  God rest her soul.

I brought this up because I think that Tim Tebow might have given a similar answer to anyone who would question why he wears his "faith on his sleeves" as so many might label it. It is not for Tebow's glory - but for the glory of God in heaven through the power of faith in Jesus Christ!

Excerpt from article:

Something is happening in the Mile High city of Denver

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Phillipians 2:10,11

I saw something on television last night, that in all of my years of watching professional football I have never seen. Last night during Denver’s miracle win against the Jets, and immediately following the game, I watched a movement of the Holy Spirit of the God of Israel. Right there on the field.

I know we live in a cynical world. We have seen it all, done it all, won it all, lost it all. We are a people who are not easily impressed anymore. It is fashionable for athletes and movie stars to win the game or receive the award, and start the “I just want to thank Jesus” speech. Most of the time it fails to ring true. We usually see people who don’t live a Godly life, thanking God for His blessing, and paying what amounts to mostly lip service. Our ears have grown numb to it, for the most part we have stopped listening.

Then someone like Tim Tebow shows up, and everything changes.

By now, we all know his story. When his mom was pregnant with him, complications arose and she was urged, at the risk of her own life, to not bring the baby to term, but to abort it. She chose to trust God, and Tim Tebow was born. He was raised by Godly, Christian parents, and along the way rose to fame as a college football player in Florida. He seemed to be the Next Big Sure Thing. Then he got to the NFL and hit a brick wall that was wrapped in concrete, and reinforced with re-bar. Everything came to a grinding halt
.
Drafted to the Denver Broncos by a coach who then got fired, Tim Tebow seem banished to the Phantom Zone behind quarterback Kyle Orton. Then Orton imploded, and John Elway was forced to use Tebow. Only problem is Tebow is extremely shaky as a passer, with a 44% completion rating. Everyone in the league “knows it”. Even his own coach says it. But a funny thing happened on the way to “what everybody knew” would happen – Tebow is on one, wild hot streak, and winning like crazy. Huh?..how does that happen?

But this is not an article about football, this is an article about the Holy Spirit.

I agree. That article is about the Holy Spirit of God working within the life of one of his faithful, saved followers!

Tim Tebow is a living example of one of the great Bible verses:

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Phillipians 2:10,11

God bless him for his faithfulness and his willingness to use his football career in order to share his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ for all the world to see!
