The beauty of a child being conceived, formed in the womb, and birthed into the world is life and wonderful goodness.
By contrast, the conception of a child forming in the womb, then swept away through an abortionists' tools is death and a horrible evil.
What ever happened to a physician's adage and pledge to "first, do no harm?"
There are certain topics that are difficult to discuss. This is one of them. There is always a firestorm of attacks that follow my posts on abortion. Well....I say good! It should rile up and anger people!
There are websites galore of pro-lifers, such as Youth For Life which share both tragic articles about abortion, as well as an extremely uplifting story about Baby Samuel's in utero operation which corrected his problem with spina bifida.
Go here for a photo that, at the time it was taken was outrightly rejected by many T.V. news programs. Why did they refuse to air this picture and tell this story about such a miraculous, life-saving operation in the womb?
You tell me.

At this site called facts about abortion you can read many articles that show us how few abortions are done "for the health and/or life & death reasons" for the mother. If you scroll down, you can see some of the amazing photos of LIVING BABIES IN THE WOMB.
Finally, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust has a video explaining why they are rising up against this heinous evil for the purpose of rescuing the next generation.

This is a tricky topic for me.
I'll start by saying that I believe life begins at conception, and therefore, abortion is murder. As a result, I won't have one.
That said, here's the tricky part... my beliefs are based solely on my religious convictions. I have the right to practice my religion freely, without fear of persecution, but so does everybody else. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a few "scares" when I thought I might be losing the pregnancy. I had two miscarriages before conceiving her, so I was nervous. I feel as if I lost children, not something intangible. I had the same hopes, dreams and love for them as I did (and do) for my daughter when I conceived. I had a close friend at the time who is Jewish. I found that I was unable to discuss my fears with him, because his faith taught him that you don't have life until you have a soul, and you don't have a soul until you draw your first breath. So, my unborn child wasn't a life at all, according to his faith. Losing a pregnancy was not the same thing as losing a life, as far as he was concerned. Having an abortion, in his opinion, wasn't taking a life because the unborn fetus hadn't drawn a breath. Abortion was a non-issue as far as his religious convictions were concerned. Every religion has its own opinions as to when life begins, and we are each free to practice our religions as we see fit.
God gave us free will. It is up to us to exercise that free will. If in so doing we make bad choices, then we will pay the price. We can't force people to live the way we think is best because not everyone is a Christian. We must come to Christ by faith, not by force.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't say anything against abortion, but rather, we should educate people about the ramifications of having one, both physical and emotional. Perhaps if we educated people instead of beating them over the head with the Bible, we'd have better success. Through kindness, compassion and understanding we might have a better opportunity to witness to someone in that situation rather than alienating her. Bombing abortion clinics and assassinating doctors who perform abortions is just as horrific and just as much a sin as many think abortion to be. (myself included)It's not up to me to force a woman to make a particular choice for her life based on my religious convictions. I can only hope that through compassion and education, I can help her make a better choice for herself as a human being. But, all of the options must be there, including abortion, in order for us to come to Jesus freely.

I don't disagree with you about abortion, Christine. I just think we need to approach it differently.

For me, choosing whether abortion should be legal or not is not only just a "faith" matter. It is also a moral matter and our laws define moral positions all of the time. I just think that an unborn baby should have the right to life, as is stated in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
The Roe vs. Wade decision was done under the unfortunate guise of "a woman's right to choose" which IMO, is a travesty of justice to the helpless, unborn child who can't defend his/her right to life.
For the record, Jaded, I don't approve of bombing abortion clinics or shooting abortionists, either.
But what the "Youth for Life" and "Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust" groups present in their messages is important for people to face. The reality of abortion is truly sickening, and I hope and pray that one day our nation will see it for what it is and not so easily sanction it anymore. People pretend that it's not murder. They want to portray it as nothing more dangerous or evil than getting a tooth extracted.
Abortion is just another example of our society succombing to the marketing of evil. Check out David Kupelian's chapter on the lie of it all and how the lawyers in the Roe vs. Wade case laughed when they came up with that all too familiar catch phrase...a women's right to choose. Yeah right...it's a woman's right to choose alright...she chooses death for her unborn baby.
Again, I don't disagree with you about when life begins, but many others do. Our belief that life begins at conception - or even before, because God planned for us before we were even conceived - is based on our religious beliefs. Not everyone believes this way. It only becomes murder if you believe that the unborn fetus is, in fact, a life. If our religion taught that life wasn't life until it drew breath, then we wouldn't understand the whole controversy. I am thankful that I DO understand.
We can't force morality on people, no matter how hard we might try. It's easy to say that laws against murder are a moral issue. But, there is no argument that someone is alive if he or she is walking around one minute, then slain in the next. The question of when life begins is a religious one, and we can not force other people to believe what we believe, in the manner in which we believe it. We can only educate people about how horrific the procedure is, and about how many, many women live with regret and agony every minute of every day of their lives. We need to make sure that every option is presented in full. When women can see just how devastating an abortion can be emotionally and physically, perhaps then we can minister to their spirit to choose a better path.
And for the record, I didn't for a second believe that you'd ever condone bombings or murders. I apologize if that's how it came across.
What do you do when someone decides it's a matter of faith, their beliefs, to kill you? The law is supposed to protect innocent human life.
What happens when someone decides it's okay to steal your goods because their faith says it's perfectly fine?
No, this is not just a matter of faith. It is a matter of having a society which respects others, especially those who do not have the ability to speak for themselves. Any time we justify eliminating someone because they're unwanted, sick, disabled, we put our own lives in mortal danger.
In many parts of the world, life is cheap. The individual means nothing. Unfortunately, we're rapidly moving in that direction.
When a doctor delivers a baby breech, fully formed, kicking and alive and jams scissors into the back of its head before the head emerges from the womb - that is murder, plain and simple. Sorry for being so graphic, but that's the unvarnished truth. You can justify abortion (whatever the form it takes) all you want, but it takes a life.

I find it sad when I hear well meaning christians say "it's not for me to say another's faith / religion is wrong'. It most assuredly is your place and responsibility when presented the opportunity! God's blessings and truths are to be shared to the whole world. I am not saying shove a Bible down anyones throat, but I am saying at some point, anyone willing to listen, must be told the truth as found in God's word. If your unsure, keep asking and seeking. Either way, you will bring honor to Him by serving Him, not your fleshly worldly weakness.

Jaded, we don't legislate faith, we do however, legislate faith based morals and values. I am one citizen damn tired of my tax dollars supporting the largest baby killing machine in the world, Planned Parenthood.
If more people where aware of exactly what Anna described, this nation would take a step back and take a deep sorrow felt breath and reconsider. Yet the liberal media does all it can from keeping the bloody horrid details of an abortion under the table! It's murder, plain and simple! the worst kind, the murder of a defenseless helpless child! God help us!
