The Truth Will Not Be Silenced!

Coming up in April:
Day of Truth - April 27, 2006

visit www.dayoftruth.org

The Day of Truth was established to counter the promotion of the homosexual agenda and express an opposing viewpoint from a Christian perspective.

In the past, students who have attempted to speak against the promotion of the homosexual agenda have been censored or, in some cases, punished for their beliefs. It is important that students stand up for their First Amendment right to hear and speak the Truth about human sexuality in order to protect that freedom for future generations.

The Day of Truth provides an opportunity to publicly exercise our free speech rights.

Participating students are encouraged to wear T-shirts and pass out cards (not during class time) with the following message:

I am speaking the Truth to break the silence.
Silence isn’t freedom.
It’s a constraint.
Truth tolerates open discussion, because the Truth emerges when healthy discourse is allowed.
By proclaiming the Truth in love, hurts will be halted, hearts will be healed, and lives will be saved.

The Day of Truth is scheduled for April 27, 2006. This is the day after GLSEN (The Gay, Lesbian, Straight Educational Network) will sponsor the "Day of Silence." GLSEN’s Day of Silence encourages students to remain silent throughout the day and not respond to teachers or school administrators. It is part of their overall strategy to change how our society perceives homosexual behavior.

But the Day of Silence is a misnomer, because what is truly being silenced is the Truth.

Speaking of the Day of Truth, there is THE Voice of Truth and that voice belongs to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Several months ago, I asked a question on this blog, "what should be our source for absolute truth?"

I often ask that very question when posting at other blogs that typically hold worldviews opposite that of the Biblical Christian faith and worldview. Most of the time, the question is met with silence.

I think that question is an interesting one to ask and have answered.

What "side" would a person end up on?

How would each side have most likely viewed the Bible?

Would their view be that the Bible is a 'living document' that is meant to be progressive, frequently updated and re-interpretated for the times with an evolving moral and legal structure to match?

Or, is the Bible to be viewed as God's Word to all mankind which was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit?

Is it the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living?

Think about it. How one answers that question determines how each of us will live as Christians. Both cannot possibly be correct.

It is precisely because the Bible is inspired by God that it is perceived as truth without any mixture of error. That is how absolute truth is determined.

(see 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalms 12:6; 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5)

God's Truth in the Bible is how we discern which representative voice, out of all the voices calling out to us today, is truly joining in lock step with the One and Only Voice of Truth, Jesus Christ.

As one portion of the Casting Crowns song lyrics called The Voice of Truth tells us:

But the Voice of Truth tells me a different story
The Voice of Truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
And the Voice of Truth says, "This is for My glory
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth

The Voice of Truth (complete lyrics)
by Casting Crowns

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand
But the waves are calling out my name And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again.
"Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

Chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand
But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again.
"Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

I love Casting Crowns and I love that song!

Yes, the world is definitely divided on their belief on absolute truth. I had a guy whom I have known for years, recently tell me that men who were prophets wrote the Bible and it is not God's Word. He told me I was wrong to believe it and that he was going to change my mind one day.

That grieves my heart so much and I told him so. But unfortunately all we can do is present the truth, live it and pray for those who don't believe in the Bible as absolute truth. It gets frustrating, scarey and discouraging sometimes, but we have to keep believing our prayers will be answered. But what an awesome God to give us a free will to choose for ourselves.

Hope all is well with you, Christine!

Hi Jojo!

Welcome back! I have missed you over here.

Casting Crowns has some really great songs. "The Voice of Truth" is one of my favorites by them. The song seemed to fit so well when thinking about the current cultural battles of our time.

It is because people do not know what the Bible says that they will follow the wind of public opinion whichever direction it is currently blowing.

I just read an article that told about Brittany Spears trying out several different kinds of religions. Apparently she wears a red kabbalah string, received a Hindu blessing and mark on her forehead, visited a healer (phrenologist), and consulted a Guru who supposedly specializes in faith healing. She occasionally goes back to her roots at the Baptist church, gets her Bible and reads passages with her mom over the phone. If only she would let the others go and concentrate on that Bible, she'd be better off. She seems so spiritually confused...and I think that many of our youth today are unfortunately in the same boat.

True words of wisdom!

Love & God bless,
Christine

Hi Susan!

We are supposed to be drenched with rain over here on the west coast this Saturday. Looks like my son's team will have to reschedule their double header baseball games with arch rival Point Loma Nazarene!

I have a story to tell you about some humorous dialogue that I had with the makeup artist and photographer at my daughter's photo session. I want to post it at my blog this weekend...you're gonna laugh at my attempt to "be silent" in order to not get into any type of argument on religion!

When I shared it with my bible study group on Tuesday, everyone was in stitches! It's a typical story from your friend on the West Coast! hehe ;-) I'm so glad that you still love me...no matter what! Can't wait to share it...

Stay dry and warm! Celebrate the joy of our Lord!

Christine

Christine:

God uses your circumstances (having a collegiate pitcher AND a "celebrity" in the family) to provide many opportunities to sow seed, share Jesus and display Christ-like living. God brings thirsty people into our lives as rivers of living water become more and more evident. He uses those who are abiding, willing and available.

Jesus commanded us to love one another (see JOH 15:17). My mentor once gave me a refrigerator magnet that said, "Friends love each other, warts and all." All will know we are His disciples if we have love for one another (see JOH 13:35). I do love you, Christine.

God bless you, my friend. I am smiling and look forward to your story about trying to "be silent". Love to the West Coast from a sunshiny Jerusalem on Saturday, 60 degrees at 2:30 pm. (ss)

What you and those who speak as you do want is this;
A vampire type christianity. Where it is permitted to drain the blood from certain teachings of God in His word and of Christ but not dying to self but staying in their sin. Denial of any responsibility at all for being disobedient.

If telling the truth concerning hell and any sin of mankind that demands to be made legal is indeed "predjudice" then so be it. I will stand and remain as such rather than fall into the hands of an angry God. I will go to my resting place knowing I did what He wanted me to do.
