Read about how a photo of dead Iraqis who were executed by insurgents in a sports stadium (which was taken months before the Haditha incident), was passed off by the UK Times as the victims of our marines in Haditha!
Good move, UK Times. Adding to the hatred of America and giving excuses for insurgents and Al Qaida to continue their suicide bombings, killing of our military members, and the constant targeting of civilians who join the police force in Iraq, and enabling our enemy is just what a good newspaper should be doing these days...NOT!

There are dozens of links about this story, especially at Michele Malkin's blog. Go to her link and read the letter correspondence that ensued between her and Gerard Baker, US editor of the UK Times.
Mark Steyn's article, Events at Haditha don't change need for victory says what most thinking Americans would agree with.
Steyn writes:
For three years, coalition forces in Iraq behaved so well that a salivating Vietnam culture had to make do with the thinnest of pickings: one depraved jailhouse, a prisoner on a dog leash with a pair of Victoria's Secret panties on his head and an unusually positioned banana. "Just look at the way U.S. army reservist Lynndie England holds the leash of the naked, bearded Iraqi," wrote Robert Fisk, the dean of the global media's Middle Eastern correspondents. "No sadistic movie could outdo the damage of this image. In September 2001, the planes smashed into the buildings; today, Lynndie smashes to pieces our entire morality with just one tug on the leash."
Down, boy.
But now at last the media have their story. They're off the leash. And, if the worst rumors are true, those 10 Marines will come to symbolize the 99.99 percent of their comrades who every day do great things for the Iraqi and Afghan people. In 2004, in the wake of Abu Ghraib, I wrote that "there is something not just ridiculous but unbecoming about a hyperpower 300 million strong whose elites -- from the deranged former vice president down -- want the outcome of a war, and the fate of a nation, to hinge on one freaky jailhouse; elites who are willing to pay any price, bear any burden, as long as it's pain-free, squeaky-clean and over in a week. The sheer silliness dishonors the memory of all those we're supposed to be remembering this Memorial Day."
Two years on, it's even worse. If you examine the assumptions underlying speeches by professors, media grandees, etc., it's hard not to agree with the Wall Street Journal's James Taranto, that these days America can only fight Vietnam, over and over: Every war is "supposed to become a quagmire, which provokes opposition and leads to American withdrawal.'' That's how the nation demonstrates its "moral virtue" -- i.e., its parochial self-absorption.
Last week, Cindy Sheehan said in Melbourne that "Bobby Kennedy was assassinated by the war machine in my country." This week, Bobby's son, Robert Kennedy Jr., said in Rolling Stone that Bush stole the 2004 election. Next week, it'll be something else.
But there is more pain and more truth about America in those seven words* of Martin Terrazas. A superpower that wallows in paranoia and glorifies self-loathing cannot endure and doesn't deserve to.
*Note: The seven words are: "I don't even listen to the news."

"The insurgents are creatures of habit, and they kill as they have been taught since childhood. When you view any picture of a so called atrocity, just observe the style of killing. The bound hands and bullet to the back of the head is classic Zarqawi, as is the posing of the bodies as a lesson to all who want to remain contrary to their version of Islam.
The Marines shoot to kill after they have been engaged, and they normally do so with overwhelming force. The suspected IED detonator ran into a building, and began firing from the window at the Marines, who not only returned fire, but a withering hail of lead and shoulder held missles, and a couple of passes from an Apache for more lethal effect.
The residents of that house were killed, either by the insurgents for a photo op, or by the marines when they returned fire with a vengence. The insurgents then video’d the scene, and made sure the American media got a copy, along with the “eyewitnesses” that they picked out of the crowd to swear that the Marines did it, and everyone was just enjoying tea and prayer when they were cut down by hate maddened demons in uniform.*
I wasnt there, but if you study the methods used by both sides in incidents such as this, one can pretty much tell who did it, and also, if one takes the time to understand the rules of engagement, soldiers who need the support of the population wont jeopardize it with senseless execution style slayings.
The insurgents were aware that their support was slipping, and they were hanging on by the use of threats and force, and they needed to get the heat put on someone else. After Murtha was seen barking about leaving Iraq and calling our military mercenaries….they saw a window of opportunity to use our gullible and hate filled media to do their bidding. ?And….it is working."

* I wasn't there either, but like sheehanjihad, I am wary of rushing to judgment against our marines. Remember the made up incidences of "street theatre" that the Palestinians used?
Remember how the "martyrdom" of twelve-year-old Mohammed al-Dura was played up in the media? Classic example of the "media matrix." That incident was completely staged. Obviously, the people in Haditha were actually killed. However, we do not know all of the details yet. Could the murders have been done by the insurgents and then "staged" to appear that the marines did it? Could that be a possibility? And, if the marines did kill the civilians there could the situation have escalated to the point that there may have been a reason justifying such action...like returning the gunfire of insurgents?
