The Touchstone of Faith
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with great power and great glory. Matthew 24:30

From as long ago as 500 B.C., a touchstone was used to measure the quality of gold or silver. A touchstone was slate or basalt on which a nugget of supposedly pure gold or silver would be scratched. Then a mark of a known pure sample would be scratched next to the original and the two compared. From that beginning, "touchstone" can now refer to anything that is used as a test of genuineness.
In that sense the second coming of Jesus Christ is a touchstone for New Testament theology. Any doctrine about Christ that does not allow for His imminent, bodily return to earth must be held suspect as to its biblical foundation. So central was Christ's return in His own teaching (Matthew 24; John 14:1-4) that it must be considered necessary and non-optional. Any Christian not living with a moment-by-moment awareness of the possibility of His return is living with a marginal view of who He was and is. Does your understanding of Christ keep you looking and listening for His glorious appearing?
The prospect of seeing a dearly loved one in the future keeps hope alive in the present.
I wish He (Jesus) would come in my lifetime so that I could take off my crown and lay it at His feet.

Long time no comment! I've been concerned about all the turmoil going on in Israel. Hope you aren't anywhere near it.
The signs of the times for Jesus' return are increasing every year! Meanwhile, we have a lot of evangelizing to do...

With all the current turmoil going on in Israel right now, do you think that the Worldpride event might be cancelled?
I did a search on WorldNetDaily and found that the organizers have attempted to hold this event in Jerusalem since 2003, but haven't been successful yet. God would not allow it! Here's a link to the past articles if you'd like to read them.
No "Gay" Pride in Holy City
A correction. They planned to hold the first "gay" pride global event back in 2003 and targeted last year (2005) as the first year to do so in Jerusalem. We know that it didn't happen because of the Gaza pullout.
Those who claim that such an event is not meant to be an in your face type of deal against Christianity, Judaism and God Himself are simply lying.
Here's a portion of what the organizers said about the event that was held in Rome back in 2000:
The organizers of World Pride Rome 2000 said they intentionally planned the event to coincide with the Roman Catholic Church's Jubilee Year, which drew millions of pilgrims to commemorate 2,000 years since the birth of Jesus Christ.
If that isn't a slap in the face towards Catholic and Christian believers, I don't know what is!
