Laughter, Terrible Evil, Then Hope

I needed a laugh today. Seriously! Whenever I need to read something funny, I can always rely on my blogging friend and WorldNetDaily writer, Doug Powers to come through!

Check out his new column Abe and Mary Todd Obama over at WorldNetDaily.

There are so many great quips to choose from. But the one that made me laugh the most was this:

Lincoln and Obama both rose politically in Chicago. Not a bad deal when Lincoln was climbing the political ladder in the Windy City, but for the past several decades, bragging that you ascended through the ranks in the Chicago political machine is like saying you were the best swimmer at the city sewer. swimmer at the city sewer... HA HA HA!!!

Of course, the sobering part of Doug's column cannot be ignored. Some parts of the article relay hard truths (see below), - like the last two paragraphs of the column:

Also, both Lincoln and Obama facilitated emancipation. We all know about Lincoln's role in ending slavery – either as a primary objective or a byproduct of the end result of the Civil War, but Obama also played a role in emancipating many, many people. Because of Obama's pro-abortion stance, he has helped ensure that thousands and thousands of children are never enslaved.

In his book, "The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised as Freedom," David Kupelian nails the truth about the evil of abortion!

Please see Excerpts from Chapter 9 - "Blood Confessions: How Lying Marketers Sold America on Unrestricted Abortion."

In truth, millions of people who think of themselves as "pro-choice" are victims of sophisticated marketing campaigns, designed to appeal to their deepest feelings about freedom and equality, while simultaneously hooking them through powerful appeals to their selfishness.

Understand that marketing evil is different from marketing blue jeans. In the commercial world, you profile people in your target market and map out strategies for selling to them. You're appealing to them, yes, but you're not changing them, just understanding their mental-emotional-cultural makeup and reaching in and pushing buttons to elicit the desired response.

In marketing evil, however, a much more profound process is at work. You're in the business of changing, seducing, corrupting people. And the way back is not so easy – because we all exist in a state of pride, which means we don't like to see we've done something wrong. So, once we've been tempted to cross the line – in this case, to have an abortion – our very consciousness and loyalties often change.

In the same way, many of the physicians who perform abortions have also been victims of sorts, pressured to do so by an amoral and cowardly medical establishment. Each in his own way has fallen prey to the appealing rhetoric of the abortion marketer who justifies their destructive acts and anesthetizes their consciences.

Let's take a closer look at how easily a person's conscience can be deadened and their perceptions tampered with:

As Dr. Brewer explained, medical students go against their conscience by learning to perform abortions because their residency chief insists they must if they ever want to become doctors. The residency chief is an authority, and authorities exert an automatic hypnotic effect on suggestible people. (Indeed, people's vulnerability to an authority's "suggestion" is a core principle of hypnosis.) And what makes the "subject" here suggestible? The fact that the med student's future career is at stake provides a strong inducement for him to give up his principles to fulfill the requirements for success in his chosen field.

When people are the victims of con men, they often are loath to recognize that they have been deceived, simply because they don't want to think they have exercised bad judgment or done anything wrong. In this example, once the medical student started performing abortions, before long he could no longer see that it was wrong. Moreover, the decreasing conflict he felt each time he performed an abortion is evidence of a movement away from conscience as his involvement progressed. This mirrors the pattern in all corruption – the first lie, the first act of embezzlement, the first rape, the first murder is always the hardest.

The Bible describes this seduction process whereby we ignore our conscience so we can obtain some perceived advantage, as well as the spiritual blindness that is our only real reward:

"Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

– Acts 28:26-27

Thankfully, Mr. Kupelian ends the chapter with a message of hope (the REAL kind):

Despite all the clever marketing, this has been a story of great horror and injustice. But it is also one of hope. After all, if people who have performed thousands of abortions can find the courage and love to face the painful reality of what they have done in the past, and now embrace life rather than death, maybe there's hope that the rest of America can join in their confession and share their healing.

HOPE - the TRUE, GENUINE KIND - is found in Christ Jesus:

1Cr 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition [between us];

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;

Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone];

Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Phl 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and [my] hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but [that] with all boldness, as always, [so] now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether [it be] by life, or by death.

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Col 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Col 1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

1Th 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

1Th 1:4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

1Th 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

1Th 2:19 For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

gee... all those verses from ephesians... seems, though, you conveniently left out a few (as you always do in your scripture-drill cherry-picking):

eph 4:25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

eph 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

eph 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling AND SLANDER, along with every form of malice.

eph 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

like most judgmental evangelicals (but i'm repeating myself...), you, christine, overlook the log in your own eye to focus on the splinter in another's.

i hope you'll make a new year's resolution to at least exhibit even the most minor bit of the faith you pretend to hold.

one more, just for grins:

james 1:26 If anyone considers herself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on her tongue (keyboard), she deceives herself and her religion is worthless.

Well looky here who's back. It's Spuds!

Hey - I've got a great article link, tailor made, just for you!

This spud's for you!

heh heh

Oh and...BTW...the verses that were selected were done for the purpose of showing the concept in the Bible of genuine HOPE in Christ. That is why they were listed with the post.

But of course, Tooley boy "sees no evil, hears no evil, and speaks no evil" about either the terrible practice of abortion, or about his Obamessiah.

Spuds, being a "typical ObamaBorg Bot" only hurls his insults at Christians - especially me. Why? Because he can't stand the truth - that's why!

Sometimes the truth hurts, bud.

But do continue to keep up the good work of being the typical object lesson that you usually are in the effort of revealing such truth.
