When Christians Wouldn't Know They Were in a War

I have pre-ordered Dr. David Jeremiah's new book, "I Never Thought I'd See The Day - Culture At The Crossroads." and look forward to receiving it when it is released on October 2nd.

Our culture is at the crossroads, unlike any time in the past.  It is highly affecting people (whether they realize it or not) spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, politically, and also when it comes to the subjects of right vs. wrong, good vs. evil, and righteousness vs. sinfulness.

The new sermon series has begun and each week is more enlightening than the last! You can view today's topic, at David Jeremiah.org: When Christians Wouldn't Know They Were in a War | Week of September 25, 2011.

Excerpt:

Approaching the end of the age before Christ's return, we can expect an intensification of spiritual warfare. But too many Christians have failed to prepare themselves. In order to protect ourselves against the attacks of Satan, it is important to know who Satan is and what he does.

People who claim not to believe that Satan exists have not thought through the situation that we face here on this earth. Jesus Christ himself warned us about Satan many, many times during his three year ministry on earth. Since his miracles, death, and subsequent resurrection to life are facts of history, it would be wise to heed the warnings of Jesus in the Scriptures. The name "Satan" occurs 55 times in 48 verses in the NKJV Bible. He has other names as well, and is described as "the devil," "our adversary," and a "roaring lion who seeks to devour."

1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because [fn] your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

    Christine,

You have written some valuable truth and given a more precious resource, the written WORD of God.

The written WORD becomes the living WORD by the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

My prayer this day is that your readers in this world today want to LIVE and not die. Much love to you and your readers. (ss)

”Since his miracles, death, and subsequent resurrection to life are facts of history...”

Are they? Is there any other book besides the Bible that treats these stories as fact? Because there are some remarkable parallels between the life and deeds of Jesus and other legendary heroes. Some of those heroes reportedly lived decades or even centuries before he did.
I could name you at least a dozen, perhaps more, famous writers of history who lived either in Jesus' time or no more than a hundred years after. Some of them actually lived in the same region Jesus had. Many of them traveled extensively, and at least some of them would have written down such an interesting story...and absolutely none of them make any mention of him in their texts.

Even some of his miracles weren't new. The god Dionysus supposedly turned water into wine at a certain spring every year, while Jesus only did it once. Jesus raised a man from the dead, but Elisha did that too, long before—and hallelujah, he did it long after he himself was dead! (2 Ki 13:21)

This Satan may be the “roaring lion [who] walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour”, but it appears that God will do most of the devouring in the end:

So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. (Rev 9:15 NKJV)
That, at present, is about 2,300,000,000 people, whose great crime is not knowing how much the True Living God cares about them. The number will probably be much higher when the end times begin—if they ever do.

But, I digress. Have you any non-biblical documentation for these 'facts'? (And didn't we do this dance some years ago?)

Hi Susan! Thanks for emphasizing the truth of God's Written Word, His Living Word - Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit of God who leads us into all understanding!

Yes - it is a life or death issue. I am praying for all of those who don't know Christ yet right along with you!

    Love & Belief,
    Christine

    GM,

We have had that discussion, probably many times, but when I refer you to read Simon Greenleaf: Testimony of the Evangelists I usually don't hear back from you. Maybe you will take the time to read it now?
