Blago, Obama & Emanuel - Oh My!

Previously, I had asked Sean over at The NEIN blog if the reason why Obama has seemed to be "The Teflon man" when it came to scandal, many nefarious associates, past questionable (and possibly criminal) political and social behavior, and no investigations by the FEC into his campaign actions (including ACORN) - as well as the huge amount of campaign money collected - with some illegally derived through foreign donations; was possibly for the purpose of nabbing those involved in illegal behavior though a "sting operation."

Perhaps the latest revelation and arrest of the Democratic Governor, Rod Blagojevich, after a three year probe is the first step in a much larger sting operation. The dirt will be in the details, which are probably massive, and will be forthcoming over the next few days.

In the comment section of my previous blog post, Murray A wrote:

Christine,
With the exposure of corruption regarding Gov. Blagojevich, the extent of that corruption which has shocked investigators, and the way that Obama and his crew have lied to their back teeth about Obama's connection with the governor I think you should forget the birth certificate issue and pray that this corruption issue will bring him to book, and prove his ineligibility for office. This is far more explosive that the other matter.

I think you might be right! This scandal has only just begun and Obama will most likely be found to be right in the middle of it all!

I just shared the following comment on another blog:

I am wondering whether or not this Blagojevich scandal and arrest could be the start of a much larger sting operation? What are you thoughts on this?

The blogs are exploding with connection information about Obama, Blago, Rezko, etc.

I was surprised that Blago's bail was so low. Could it be for the purpose of tracking his additional movements to see how far down the rabbit hole (and who is involved) goes?

I also heard that possible senate seat candidate #5 is Jesse Jackson Jr.!

One commenter (you - Murray!)at my blog is suggesting that this may ultimately be the downfall of Obama's bid for the presidency - more damaging than the "natural born citizen" cases. Perhaps he is right!

I just can't imagine that Obama could get through this latest scandal unscathed.

Back when I originally wanted to write to you (Sean of The Nein blog) via email in order to share some speculation (on my part) about a possible "sting" scenario involving Obama, I was wondering if Obama could have been on the "good guy" side of the law, helping to catch the perpetrators. When Obama was meeting with Bush for Intelligence briefings, I was extremely worried that he could have gotten information that could have hurt our nation. However, I have noticed that Obama isn't meeting with Bush anymore.

Since Obama was so surprised by Blago's arrest, I now presume that he just might end up being one of the "big fish" destined to be caught in this latest Chicago incident of corruption.

The MSM is trying so hard to claim that Obama "didn't know" about this scandal and that "it has nothing to do with the president-elect. Sorry...that's BULLCRAP!

GateWay Pundit has quite the scoop about this scandal!

obama was exonerated when the indictment was handed down yesterday. in fact, the governor is taped as saying obama and company refused to play the game.

stop spreading lies, christine, plus gossip. i think your bible - ever read that? or do you just read rumormongering blogs anymore? - has something to say about both of those.

take the 'christian' header off if you don't intend to act like one.

Exonerated? Hardly. According to The Politico: Big risks for Obama in Blago scandal (an article that you might like better - spud) - the prosecutor in no way exonerated Obama.

This is what was stated:

"Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald pointed out during questions and answers at his news conference that “there's no reference in the complaint to any conversation involving the president-elect or indicating that the president-elect was aware of it.”

As this scenario plays out we shall see whether or not even that belief about Obama holds true.

I thought this part was very telling:

But there are enough unanswered questions to give his political opponents plenty of grist, starting with Obama’s curt denial that he had ever spoken to Blagojevich about how to fill Obama’s vacant seat.

His chief political adviser, David Axelrod, Tuesday corrected his own suggestion last month that Obama and Blagojevich had spoken about filling Obama’s vacant seat. Spokespeople did not respond to a question of when Obama and Blagojevich last spoke, and about what.

And there is the question of Fitzgerald’s future . Presidents can appoint their own U.S. Attorneys, but Republicans aim to all but dare Obama to remove the crusading Fitzgerald before he's done cleaning out corruption in Chicago and Springfield.

"What he should do tomorrow is say, 'Patrick Fitzgerald has a job and can have for as long as he wants,'" McKenna told Politico. "Some have wondered if Barack Obama would keep Fitzgerald [as U.S. Attorney]. It would be great if he confirms that he plans to."

Meanwhile, the case is likely to turn reporters into students of Illinois political history, just as the Clinton presidency produced a generation of reporters and opposition researchers obsessed with turning over the rocks of Arkansas politics.

In 2002, when Blagojevich left the U.S. House (opening up a seat for Emanuel), Obama joined other black Chicago Democrats – including his one-time rival Bobby Rush and state Senate mentor Emil Jones –in supporting Roland Burris, an African-American former Illinois Comptroller and state Attorney General.

In a further effort to put distance between Obama and the governor, Obama allies are preemptively noting that incoming Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s claim this summer in a New Yorker article that he and Obama were “the top strategists of Blagojevich's victory” in 2002 was inaccurate.

In a subsequent article in the Springfield political publication Capitol Fax this summer, now being circulated by Obama allies, Emanuel walked back his assertion.

"David [Wilhelm] and I have worked together on campaigns for decades,” Emanuel said, referring to the Democratic operative who was a top adviser to Blagojevich in 2002 and strongly denied that Obama had been involved in that race. “Like always, he's right and I'm wrong."

Further, the allies note that Blagojevich did not support Obama in 2004 in what was initially thought to be a hotly contested primary.

Still, as Obama emerged from the sheltered, reformist enclave of Hyde Park in the 1990s, he made valuable friends among the bosses of its political machine – Mayor Richard Daley, Emil Jones and many others. He bragged at times that Illinois had made him tough. He also campaigned on an ethics bill he helped pass in the Illinois State Senate.

And he seemed still to be in that Chicago straddle when asked about Blagojevich’s arrest yesterday, mustering only word that he was “saddened” and “sobered” at a time when even other Illinois Democrats were demanding Blagojevich resign.
.

Several people allied with Obama had to backtrack on what they had previously stated in order to give the impression that Obama couldn't (or, didn't) have anything to do with this level of corruption.

Not good.

We shall see what happens.

quit quoting anti-obama blogs and you might see some real information.

the TAPE-RECORDING straight from blago said he tried to make a deal with obama and the obama team said 'no thanks.' i think he dropped one of his f-bombs in the process.

i know this is a little too-straightforward for you to accept, seeing as how it's not on a bleating blogger's site - a blogger who has about as much knowledge of the facts, it seems, as ... well ... you.

I'm perfectly willing to wait for more details as the investigation proceeds. All things considered, however, I would hardly consider Blago's denials as credible. Let's see where the evidence goes. Not that I expect that to carry much weight with the lefties. They showed with Clinton that they are more than willing to swallow a lot of corruption in exchange for the democrat label.

christine (i originally typed 'christian' - must have been a freudian slip or something...) -

i see from my email that gary made a comment. please remind him i no longer read his comments, and i suggest he return the favor...

(yes, childish, of course - but i've learned in my career that you speak to the level of your audience. :) besides, the bible is full of verses extolling the virtues of children, isn't it? of course, it's also full of verses saying to put away childish things too, i suppose - which only bolsters my view that inerrancy means we have a schizophrenic God who needs as many prescription pharmaceuticals as ... as ... well, as me, i suppose...)

have a good day. we're facing a second day of noah's floods here. let me know if you hear anything from the supreme(ly humored by all the lawsuits) court, ok?

Hey Mikey -

In response to your request about Gary..allow me to quote the words of Whoopi Goldberg in "Ghost" - "I ain't no d*** secretary..."

te he

You are so entertaining spud. I'll give ya that.

I see you are still dealing with your distaste for God and His ways via your comment:

"...which only bolsters my view that inerrancy means we have a schizophrenic God who needs as many prescription pharmaceuticals as ... as ... well, as me, i suppose..."

Mike, I suggest you buy a copy (or, I will buy it and send it to you) of Max Lucado's book, "Traveling Light." You desperately need to read that book!

Stay safe (and dry) while you are in the midst of a flood.

You are extremely upset. I know how you feel...believe me. I have been in utter disbelief ever since the election!

Read my new post. I keep hoping that at least ONE of the corruption scandals surrounding Obama will eventually stick! However, he seems to be the "Teflon man" of politics.

I'm STILL trusting in the Lord on this issue. His timing is perfect - even though we WANT IT NOW! There is a reason why all of this is happening. One day, it will become clear.

I agree with you that Sarah Palin is the real deal. That is why she scared the Dems so much. She isn't tainted with the corruption that most of them are covered with!

It's awful...I know...to see our country being run by deviants.

I keep praying - right up until Inauguration day - that the Lord will move and save our nation from an Obama presidency just in the nick of time.

Thanks for your comments, Chris.
As for me, in getting all tangled up again in the 'teflon man's' ability to brush off all manner of deceit and corruption, I just have to sit this one out. I was sure the SCOTUS would do the right thing. The solution to Obama will have to be revealed in some other form. So, I will wait and see what happens with this guy.
