King of Books

Has dishonesty disproportionately risen in the minds, hearts, souls, and spirits of many Americans over the course of the last decade?  Or has it just seemed that way?  Perhaps it has something to do with the exposure that the Internet has given us about the Lamestream Media's extreme liberal bent and nonobjective reporting.  I can't even calculate how many visitors have come to this blog to read various posts over the past 2 years in order to find out what the media of mass deception is covering up about Obama.  Has it always been this way?  Or has dishonesty and lies increased exponentially since the campaign, election, and terrible governance of the puppet Obama, his evil puppeteers, and the clueless minions who blindly follow?

Note these verses that describe a "liar":

Jhn 8:44 "You are of [your] father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own [resources], for he is a liar and the father of it.

1Jo 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

1Jo 2:4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1Jo 2:22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.

1Jo 5:10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.

Did you notice how many verses deal with the term "liar" being equated with the outright denial of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord having been sent by the Father?

The Bible mentions "liars" five times within it's pages:

Psa 116:11 I said in my haste, "All men [are] liars."

1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law [is] good if one uses it lawfully,

1Ti 1:9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for [the] lawless and insubordinate, for [the] ungodly and for sinners, for [the] unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

1Ti 1:10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,

1 Ti 1:11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.

Tts 1:12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans [are] always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons."

*******

Rev 2:2 "I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars

Rev 2:3 "and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary.

*******

The book of Revelation verses above instruct us in how to deal with those who have been found to be liars. We are to "persevere and have patience, and labor for My name's sake" (Christ's) and not become weary.

Are you weary with all of the cheating, lying, injustice, harm, instability, treason, and traitorous acts of the current administration? I certainly am. More and more bloggers are writing that they can't wait for the 2012 election. It can't get here fast enough in order to get this evil administration out of office.

What about that Harold Camping character who passes himself off to be a preacher with "special knowledge" and claimed to have known about the exact date (purportedly, May 21, 2011) of the end of the world?

Those Christians who are very familiar with what the Bible has to say about this topic were not fooled by this lying, so-called "prophet." And now, some non-Christians think that because this particular idiot made such a mistake, it somehow shows how ignorant Christians may be. Well, it is more likely that the Bible-based Christians were not fooled because they take what the Scriptures say to heart:

Mat 24:23 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here [is] the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe [it].

Mat 24:24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Mat 24:25 "See, I have told you beforehand.

*******

We have been TOLD BEFOREHAND by Jesus Himself in Scripture just whom we should avoid. Knowing what is in the Bible (and what isn't) is INVALUABLE for our endeavor to recognize the truth!

Jesus Himself that some of the "great signs and wonders to deceive" might be so convincing, that if possible, it could fool "even the elect." This means that the elect will come to their biblically based sensible logic (a.k.a. discernment) in order to recognize the truth from the lies. God's Word tells us just Whom helps us out!

Jhn 16:12 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear [them] now.

Jhn 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own [authority], but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Jesus was speaking about the Holy Spirit who would lead us and guide us unto all truth. We also have fellow Christians who can help us discern better than we could on our own. The key is to be sure that what is being shared agrees with what is in Scripture.

Relying on our own senses alone, without faith, ends in death; both physically and spiritually. The Word of God - which includes God's Living Word - Jesus Christ, God's written Word - the Bible, and God's sent Counselor - the Holy Spirit - all need faith and belief. Jesus told Thomas:

Jhn 20:29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed [are] those who have not seen and [yet] have believed."

The Apostle John recorded what Jesus said would be the eternal destination of those who do not repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in order to be saved unto all eternity:

Rev 21:8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

I enjoy getting Dr. David Jeremiah's "Turning Points Devotional" weeks before the next issue appears online. The May issue is still on the David Jeremiah.org website, but on June 1, 2011, be sure to visit the site to see next month's issue: "The Test of Time." I have already started reading it and it is awesome! And, with a gift of $100.00 or more, you can receive A Visual History of the English Bible plus a free copy of How We God the Bible pamphlet. I have already sent for both through the mail!

I plan to discuss more about the June devotional in future blog posts. For now, I will close with one quote that informs us of just how very important God's Word is in our lives:

"The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed," Said Patrick Henry. Other books will come and go, but only one endures through the ages and spans eternity."

That is why the Bible is the king of books!
Mat 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Mat 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, [fn] but My Father only.

Your words come dangerously close to bibliolatry.
"King of Books" indeed! It became King the same way many kings did; by killing, exiling, or adopting any possible rivals. It's still doing that.

BTW, Harold Camping reads the same Bible you do (well, maybe not; I know you prefer the NIV; Camping seems to use the KJV). How is it that the two of you have such diverse conclusions after reading the same text? I would have thought that the 'King' would not say one thing to the nobles and another to the subjects.

So...Camping was wrong, but only about when, is that right? God, in his love, will still destroy the world...but not today, just "someday". Hmm.

There may be a bigger pack of liars than Jerome Corsi, Joseph Farah and the other WND-associated wingnuts...but if there are, I hope never to meet them. That bunch is enough for one lifetime.

So can I assume you will now stop posting lies on this blog? I won't hold my breath.

It all comes down to discernment. It involves exegesis (rather than esogesis - which is what Camping did,) proper use of hermeneutics, and not purposely adding or subtracting from what the Bible is telling us.

The book of Revelation tells us that certain percentages of the world will be "burned up" and "desolate." But it does not say that the world will be completely destroyed. After all, we will live on a new earth (meaning - restored) in the Millennium. But that is an entirely new topic.

I recently read a devotional from In Touch Ministries. I plan to write about it in more detail in a future blog post.

GM, you focus so much on the negative (the Bible is an honest book recording the lies, sins, evil, and consequences of all of these) and miss the positive message of the Bible. God's Word points to Jesus, and the only reason that we will ever be able to love Him is because He first loved us.

Stanley writes:

"When your feet are firmly planted in the ground of this truth and you are bathed in His extravagant love, experiencing its breadth and length and height and depth, you life will change. All your devotion to Him will flow out of this source."

That's the difference between you and I. I believe this. You don't.

Stanley:

"The apostle John wrote this powerful declaration toward the end of his life: "We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for u" (1 Joan 4:16). Possibly the most consequential question we'll ever have to answer is this: Can we declare this truth with absolute conviction? These words turn an abstract proposition into a personal relationship; they are the heart and soul of the Christian faith, and the fundamental decision of your life.

Being a Christian isn't the result of a moral choice or belief in lofty ideals, but an ongoing encounter with a [person - Jesus - who gives life a new horizon and decisive direction."

I have experienced such encounters with Jesus, and they are individual and personal only to me. That is what a relationship is. It is totally different from anyone else's.

The question Stanley asks at the end of this particular essay is:

"Will you believe God and believe in the love He has for you?"

My answer is a resounding YES!!!!

John,

What lies are you referring to? Can you point them out to me? Where is your proof that what has been written here are, in fact, lies?

When I do not know for sure what is the truth about any topic, I often write "Talk Wisdom Reports, You Decide."

I also write essays and include links to other bloggers who share their knowledge and opinions on certain topics.

For example, if several document experts have examined a document and reveal that Obama's birth certificate has been doctored (and they show how they know this), then where is the lie in that?

You are not being objective if you do not question what has been brought out, examined, and later shown to be a fake document.

CJW: ”GM, you focus so much on the negative (the Bible is an honest book recording the lies, sins, evil, and consequences of all of these) and miss the positive message of the Bible.”

Yes, and there's a reason for that. From the first lie spoken by God in Eden (Ex 2:17), to the later flooding of the world, to his repeated scourging of his 'chosen people', there's not a great many positive messages in the Bible. One of the few I know, and the one I remember best, is 1 Cor 13:4~7. Those verses are some of the most sublime words ever written, and they were the words of a man, not a god. The god he was claiming to speak for seems incapable of anything 'positive'.

”The book of Revelation tells us that certain percentages of the world will be "burned up" and "desolate." But it does not say that the world will be completely destroyed.”

True. I guess the Americas and Australia will survive unharmed. After all, they didn't even 'exist' when Revelation was written. But if you live between Gibraltar and the Euphrates Valley, there's going to be trouble. A scholar like you knows that Revelation was nearly voted out of the Bible; Christianity's dark side would have been a lot less dark if it had. (How people can decide by vote what is God's Word and what isn't is a subject in itself, and we won't go into that now.)
But you are certainly right about the difference: you believe this, and I don't.

GM,

"It became King the same way many kings did; by killing, exiling, or adopting any possible rivals. It's still doing that."

Well, GM, you certainly remain consistent both in your own hatred and lack of respect for fact. The Bible remains king because first and foremost, God promised that his word would never pass away. But aside from that, it has remained king as far as readers, purchasers, etc., because people recognize its value. When a continent gave up on learning and literacy for a thousand years, men labored ceaselessly to preserve the scriptures. As for the charge of idolatry with regards to the scriptures, it's rather difficult for people to over-emphasize the writings that God proclaimed were not just words, but our life. And to this day, the faithful have defended the words from people like you, who not only do not believe, but despise the word so much that they speak all manner of slander against those who tell it and kill those who claim it. Despite your false charges, the truth remains that atheists have killed millions in their war on the believers, orders of magnitude more than any crusade or inquisition.

You are so ill-suited to the truth that you can't even keep to a consistent argument. Above, you credit Paul with wonderful words, and completely disregard all that he gave credit for inspiring such wisdom and love. Your words are as hollow as your soul. If only you would read for the sake of wisdom and not hatred, you might yet do something worthwhile. It doesn't look likely now.
