Jenny said...: No, I did not miss the point! Many cultures have their own legends concerning the origins of marriage. Throughout history, and even today, families arranged marriages for couples. Most couples didn't marry because they were in love but for economic liaisons, and the people involved didn't have much to say about the decision.

You are entitled to your beliefs, of course, but I just don't buy into your god creating marriage. And it certainly wasn't just one man and one woman! Even in the Bible. Nor was it pre-political.... women were traded for political and financial reasons like the property they were considered to be.

The Bible says, "In the beginning God...created the heavens and the earth." No political or cultural idea existed before God, so your argument is false.

The Bible explicitly cites marriage as the union of one man and one woman. You need to study God's Word more to interpret correctly.

The Bible records the truth; even the errors and sins of men. Solomon having many wives and concubines is recorded in the Bible, but not approved. Read Ecclesiastes to see how the man who was given much wisdom by God ended up confessing that all of his sins were, "chasing after the wind" and how such sinful activities drew him away from God - which he realized late in life was more important than all the wives and concubines in the world.; June 29, 2013 at 2:57:00 PM PDT

Arlen said...: Jenny, I thought people who did not believe in the Bible would have valid reasons. I might disagree with their assertions, but we can agree to disagree. However, you let the discussion devolve into a morass of name-calling by referring to the Bible as "tribal Jewish bronze-age mythology" which really is disturbing to people who cherish The Word like I do. There is no need to be hurtful. You can be just as kind in your disagreement.

Christians, when they have lived up to the highest ideals of their faith, have defended the weak and vulnerable and worked tirelessly to protect and strengthen vital institutions of civil society, beginning with the family.

We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good, and to call upon our fellow citizens, believers and non-believers alike, to join us in defending them. These truths are:

1. the sanctity of human life
2. the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife
3. the rights of conscience and religious liberty.

Because they are increasingly under assault from powerful forces in our culture, we are compelled today to speak out forcefully in their defense, and to commit ourselves to honoring them fully no matter what pressures are brought upon us and our institutions to abandon or compromise them. We make this commitment not as partisans of any political group but as followers of Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Lord, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

THE RELEVANT OBAMA ADMISSION

At Barack Obama’s web site, the following admission:

As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children…’ “

Read that last line again.

“That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children…”

That’s an admission that Great Britain “governed the status” of Barack Obama, Jr. He has chosen to highlight this on his own volition.

And this leads to the relevant question:

HOW CAN A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN’S STATUS BE “GOVERNED” BY GREAT BRITAIN?

A natural born citizen’s status should only be governed by the United States.
