What Do You See?

We always know that the attacks against Jesus Christ and Christian faith will surface the closer we get to Christmas or Easter. Note the latest attempt of a group who call themselves "American Atheists."

Isn't it funny how they NEVER DARE to place a photo of Islam's Mohammad in their ads of ridicule?

 I wonder why?

Oh yeah...that's right...they would probably be tracked down and get their heads cut off. Well...maybe not. The Islamists usually only target Christian believers for such bloody, evil, disgusting, dirty, and horrendous deeds.

However, there must be another reason why atheists do not target Islam.  Perhaps it has something to do with their untruthful agreement on just who Jesus Christ really is?  But that's a subject for another post.

Back to the myths poster.

Doesn't it make you wonder why an image of Christ, a cross, a nativity scene, or any other Christian symbol infuriates atheists and makes them either lash out or mock the Savior of the world?

The book of Jude tells us about the mockers:

Jud 1:17   But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Jud 1:18   How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

Jud 1:19   These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Why the need to target Jesus Christ?

In the words of Jesus, the Bible informs us through Scripture:

Jhn 15:18   "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before [it hated] you.

Jhn 15:24   "If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

Jhn 15:25   "But [this happened] that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.'

Psalm 69:4  Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head, many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me.

It is by no accident that Psalm 69 is one of the most quoted in the New Testament, and it is often applied to the ministry and suffering of Jesus.  Verse 4, like John 15:25, speaks of Jesus' many enemies.  The experience of being scorned by his brothers (69:8) is expressed in John 7:5.  Verse 9 portrays David's zeal for God; Christ showed great zeal when he threw the money changers out of the temple (John 2:14-17).  There is much more.  See Matthew Henry's commentary.

The theme of Psalm 69 shares David's cry of distress in a sea of trouble. We may have to suffer severely for our devotion to God, but that should cause us to look forward with joy to the day when evil and injustice will be gone forever.

Tts 3:10   Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,

Tts 3:11   knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.

Those who reject salvation through Christ's cross are self-condemned because they have rejected the only way to be saved from their sins and reunited with Holy and Righteous God. It is no wonder, then that we read in the book of Revelation:

Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

Rev 6:11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both [the number of] their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they [were], was completed.

Rev 6:12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, [fn] there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon [fn] became like blood.

Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.

Rev 6:14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, [fn] the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,

Rev 6:16 and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

Rev 6:17 "For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

You see, the haters of Christ refuse to repent - even to the bitter end - and would rather have the mountains and rocks fall on them to hide them from the face of Him (God the Father) who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb (Jesus).

When Jesus began his 3 year ministry he first called for repentance of sin.

Mat 4:17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Repentance is not popular in today's world. It is the age of everyone "doing as they see fit;" and ignoring the admonitions of God's Word. However, some can be saved "out of the fire." It is for these that we continue to preach the Gospel of repentance.

Jude 1:22  And of some have compassion, making a difference:

Jude 1:23  And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Luk 17:3Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Acts 26 informs us that there will be those who may be "almost convinced" (as in the case of King Agrippa in Paul's day), but will refuse the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul shared his experience (from persecution of Christians to an apostle of Christ) on the Road to Damascus with King Agrippa:

Act 26:11 "And I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled [them] to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted [them] even to foreign cities.

Act 26:12 "While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

Act 26:13 "at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me.

Act 26:14 "And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? [It is] hard for you to kick against the goads.'

Act 26:15 "So I said, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said, 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

Act 26:16 'But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you.

Act 26:17 'I will deliver you from the [Jewish] people, as well as [from] the Gentiles, to whom I now [fn] send you,

Act 26:18 'to open their eyes, [in order] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'

And what was the first thing Paul needed to shareREPENTANCE!

Act 26:19 "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

Act 26:20 "but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.

King Agrippa's sad choice:

Act 26:27 "King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe."

Act 26:28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to become a Christian."

The question, dear reader, is... what do you see?

I could say it's because we have no photos of Mohammed, but then again, no photos exist of Jesus either. All we have is what people believe he/they looked like.
A more likely explanation is that Islam—alarmist rhetoric on this blog to the contrary—is not the dominant religion here. Don't puff out your chest too much over that. A very sizable portion of this country proclaims Catholicism, and many so-called (Protestant) Christians don't include Catholics as part of their number. Jehovah's Witnesses don't observe Christmas or Easter. Most Quakers don't either. Certainly the Jews don't, and Jesus was Jewish, wasn't he?
All of the above faiths have, in the past, been vilified by Christians, just as disbelievers are today. But atheists tend to fight back. (The LDS church was taken off the list of 'cults' by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association only three weeks ago, as of this writing.)

Come to think of it, I've never seen a picture of Buddha or Krishna in AA's 'ads of ridicule', either. The reasons are probably the same; Buddhists and Hindus in our society aren't trying to sledgehammer their beliefs onto the rest of the population.
Islam is about where Christianity was in the 11th Century. There will likely be an Islamic Reformation, but you and I will certainly be dead and forgotten by the time it happens.

”Why the need to target Jesus Christ?”

To fulfill his prophecies, of course! If he hadn't said those words you quote, there would be nothing Christians could use to make themselves feel noble and righteous. Nothing inspires togetherness like circling the wagons for a siege. Self-fulfilling prophecies are like that.

”You see, the haters of Christ refuse to repent - even to the bitter end - and would rather have the mountains and rocks fall on them to hide them... from the wrath of the Lamb (Jesus).”

Mmmm...lamb! Lambs have no 'wrath', especially if they're properly cooked. And if your god is as just as you say he is, I have no reason to hide, because I know he'd be fair. People don't run from a just judge, only from a corrupt one.

So what do I see? I see nothing there. I'm told that your god is everywhere in the universe, and yet there is nothing any Christian (that I know) can point to and say with certainty, “That's god, right there.” If no one can see god, you're free to describe it any way you want...and you do. Maybe you simply don't like the word “myths”. Switch it out for “legends” if it'll make you feel better. As for me, I've better things to do than 'hate' something I don't believe exists. Kinda like hating Darth Vader, know what I mean?

In an interesting segment on O'Reilly today, Adam Corolla (a self-described atheist) stated that many atheists are angry people. He should know...he is one of you. You have expressed your anger with the God of the Bible many times.

You talk about a "just judge." Shouldn't a just judge punish sin? Or do you think you can pass the good test on your own merit and escape the judgment you deserve?

Jesus is described as the "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." It is symbolism that represents Him as the final sacrifice for all mankind (recall the Old Testament sacrifices had to continually be done for the forgiveness of sins).

In Revelation, Jesus is described as the Lion who is worthy and able to open the seven scrolls to place judgment upon the earth.

Rev 5:5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals."

About seeing God. We see Him through the Scriptures and the life of Christ. It is a matter of faith. Recall what Jesus told doubting Thomas:

Jhn 20:29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed [are] those who have not seen and [yet] have believed."

What's more, as believers we are blessed now and forever:

Isa 30:18 Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD [is] a God of justice; Blessed [are] all those who wait for Him.

Rev 22:14 Blessed [are] those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Jesus is a lamb:
”...and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!” Rev 6:16

Jesus is a lion:
”But one of the elders said to me, 'Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.'" Rev 5:5

And yet it's the lamb's wrath we are to fear! Wow, nothing in the world that's more fearsome than an angry sheep...so he's both lamb and lion, eh? Is there a market for lion meat at Easter?
“I am more afraid of an army of a hundred sheep led by a lion than an army of a hundred lions led by a sheep.”

CJW: ”...Adam Corolla (a self-described atheist) stated that many atheists are angry people. He should know...he is one of you. You have expressed your anger with the God of the Bible many times.”

I used to be offended; now I'm just amused. If I'm to be angry with the god of the Bible, that doesn't make me an atheist, it makes me an angry theist. That's a dead end, since the god either isn't there to hear such anger, or doesn't bother to respond. Many atheists are angry people, but so are many believers. Fred Phelps, for instance. Come to think of it, I've seen a great deal of anger from YOU on this blog, too.
How come no one is EVER labeled as a 'self-described' Christian? 'Cause some surely are. Ted Haggard is one of you.

”You talk about a "just judge." Shouldn't a just judge punish sin? Or do you think you can pass the good test on your own merit and escape the judgment you deserve?”

No, a just judge should punish crime. “Sin” is an invention of the clergy.
As for the so-called 'good test', I took it years ago and failed, just as I was supposed to do. Jesus himself probably couldn't pass it, and I doubt that Ray Comfort (who's credited for it) can, either.

Hello Christine! I heard that atheists have a problem with Christians trying to "sledgehammer" their beliefs into the rest of the population. I have to admit that's a new one on me. True to your point none of those true "atheists" ever attack Islam ... I'm wondering which is worse ... a suicide bomber blowing up innocents in the name of Islam or Christians proclaiming Christ as savior? Ah ... we both know the reason, but we'll just let those of limited intellect continue to believe monkeys are their ancestors. Actually they are the best argument for evolution ... they are still "evolving" intellectually.

GM,

You are hopelessly clueless about the truth of God's Word. You are also hopelessly clueless about the symbolism of Scripture. Do yourself a favor this Christmas. Go buy a study Bible with notes about the Scripture verses (and additional verses that support the subject and/or prophecy being stated) so that you won't look foolish in your comments here.

Jesus, as the Lamb of God (as I wrote before) "takes away the sins of the world." His ability to open the scrolls of judgment in the end times is his - and his alone. As the resurrected Savior, Son of God, and Lord, he is both the Lamb of God and the Lion of Judah (as described in Revelation). Those who do not recognize him for who he is (e.g. those who want the rocks to fall on them) most likely only see the scars on his resurrected body (they remain there as proof of his sacrifice) and now recognize him for who he is; but refuse to repent and recognize him as Savior, Lord and King. Their foolishness is shown because they would rather have rocks from the earth fall on them rather than repent and turn to the eternal Rock of Ages - Jesus Christ - and be saved. This has been a brief explanation of the symbolism that you are missing.

Sin and crime are both offenses against Holy God. Both are indictments against the offender, as well as an offense against Holy God. Of course, the term sin is much more highly descriptive.

And, you are wrong. Jesus DID pass the test. What's more, his sacrificial death on the cross of Calvary enables all who are born again to be saved through his Perfect Sacrifice. Thus, he is the only one worthy to open the scrolls of judgment at the culmination of history.

Hi Steve!

Yes...the sledgehammer of any non-believer is evidence of both their folly and lost soul. Truly a sad way to live.

Ha ha! "Monkeys are their ancestors and they are evolving intellectually!" Anyone who believes the macro-evolution fairy tale (and all those made-up so-called "fossils" that they tried to fraudulently pass off as "proof") have fallen for one of the biggest lies of the enemy of God.

Some cry-baby atheists went to a liberal lunatic judge to get a 53 year tradition of displaying the Nativity in Santa Monica, CA, to end. The "judge" sided with the atheists.

It's just more proof that the power of Jesus Christ - whether being displayed as a babe in a manger, or via the empty cross of his resurrection BOTHER the hearts, minds, souls and spirits of the reprobate and unrepentant. Their little hissy fits here on earth are going to change to deep grief, remorse, and agony when they one day face Him (and then their ultimate destination in hell) at the Great White Throne Judgment!

Am I supposed to start quaking in my shoes now, or should I wait until he gets here?

"tribal Jewish bronze-age myths"

Is that a "let's see how anti-Semitic and insulting one can be" kind of comment?

The Bible tells us that man is made in the image and likeness of God. I'd take His word over Darwin's any day.

Funny how the anons of the blogosphere don't have the courage to reveal themselves and hide behind a screen name used by cowards.

Okay, since you didn't like the way anon said it, let's try another way.

One of your correspondents recently remarked ”we'll just let those of limited intellect continue to believe monkeys are their ancestors. Actually they are the best argument for evolution ... they are still "evolving" intellectually.”

Now, for example, he apparently believes the leading alternative to evolution, i.e. that his ancestor was a mudpie, given the 'breath of life' by some supernal being. I don't know; it's an interesting story, but mudpies evolve, at best, into stone. Monkeys are capable of learning, but mud just sits there. If it's deep enough, it can delay or even drown the unwary traveler, but nothing more. Certainly it has nothing resembling “intellect” as we know it, but perhaps that correspondent knows something about mud that I do not.

My observation is that if one believes that one comes from dirt, one tends to see, and treat other people like dirt. There are examples of this, and it may be a natural consequence of such a belief; I don't know.
Perhaps he may see fit to enlighten us some day.epenessf 4

We Are All Dirt

GMpilot said...

Yep, precisely my point.
If your neighbor's nothing but dirt, why bother to show him anything like respect, or affection? After all, his eventual fate is to return to the soil, just as you will.

That might lead one to wonder why the Great Maker wants his dirt to desire and worship him...but it's late, and I'm tired now. I'll wonder about that some other time.

"Is that a "let's see how anti-Semitic and insulting one can be" kind of comment?"

Seriously?? No it is not. It is factual. Now I realize you don't particularly like facts...they are annoying aren't they?...but they are indeed facts.

The early Jews were tribal, some would say that they still are. And they lived during the bronze-age. And like the early Greeks and Romans and pretty much everyone else, had their own mythology...which would include stories from the Bible. Do you really think Jonah lived in the belly of a whale?

So you're going to call facts and myths anti-Semetic and insulting now?

Christinewjc said...

GM,

What you fail to recognize is that even though these bodies are a gift from God, sin entered the world, and thus into these mortal bodies. Our earthly bodies get sick, they age, and they die. This body must die so the new body can live.

"Flesh and blood cannot have a part in the kingdom of God. Something that will ruin cannot have a part in something that never ruins" - (1 Cor. 15:50).

You see, in your ideology, this body is all that you think you could ever have.

Of course we can love others on this earth. God is love and he has placed this into our hearts. But just as "the good test" demonstrates, we are all dirt. There is no one righteous - no, not one. We gain righteousness through what Christ achieved for us at the Cross.

When our loved ones die, we mourn - deeply. We grieve over the separation; a temporary kind of grief while we still live on the earth. I still grieve over the death of my father 17 1/2 years ago and many other loved ones. But I do not grieve as one who has no hope. I believe in life eternal through Christ and when my dad accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior months before he died, I knew that I would see him again in eternity.

We have an Advocate who suffered with - and for us. Even Jesus wept when he saw the sadness of the people about Lazarus' passing...despite the fact that Jesus would raise him from the dead that very day. Of course, Lazarus still died of old age. But the supernatural power that Jesus showed that day gave the onlookers the message of Who Jesus really is.

Romans 8:23 tells us, "We are waiting for God to finish making us his own children, which means our bodies will be made free."

Our current bodies are not free, are they? Paul describes them as our "earthy bodies" (Phil. 3:21 MSG). Other translations tell the story:

"our lowly body" (NKJV)
"the body of our humble state" (NASB)
"these weak mortal bodies" (NLT)
"our vile body" (KJV)
"our simple bodies" (NCV)

We could all add our own adjectives. I could say, "my pain in the right knee" body. Or, "my aching body when I overdo some physical chore" body. Or, my "wrinkled face" body.

Our bodies are weak and they are aging. But that is part of God's plan, too. I once heard someone quip that "if we had (and kept) perfectly beautiful physical bodies all our lives in this sinful state, would we ever stop concentrating on that and seek our greatest need - a relationship with God?" Probably not. We would consider ourselves self-sufficient, filled with pride and never see the need to repent of our sins.

Christ's resurrection from the dead is a fact of history. People can only deny it. One day, he will change our simple bodies into forever bodies. No pain, no depression, no sickness, no end. Christ showed us the way and keeps his promises. Simple, child-like faith (not childish - but trusting faith) is what is needed in order to answer Christ's question, "Who do you say that I am?"

I know that all that I just wrote will probably not be very important to you. Your mind appears to be made up. But I share it for the sake of those who may come upon this blog and read this comment thread because they are searching for the answers that God's Word can provide.

Anonymous,

Labeling God's Word a myth and the people who are the Apple of God's Eye as "myth-believers" certainly isn't kind, sensitive or truthful.

The Bible warns us that there would be scoffers who would "exchange the truth for a lie." (see Romans 1:16-32)

The miracles of God described in the Bible culminate in Jesus' resurrection from the dead. Despite all the miracles Jesus did during his earthly ministry:

Jhn 12:37 Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.

Claiming that a miraculous event like Jonah and the whale could not happen is a more minor mindset than denying that Christ rose from the dead.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. That's the difference between you and I.

Christinewjc said...

I was talking about the Jewish people in that sentence. The Israelites are God's chosen people. The Savior came to us through God's own.

Your hypocrisy shows in your liberalism. Your purpose is obvious - to come here to try and cause division, desire to spread moral relativism, and accusations of hatred. Such tactics are gotten from someone other than God. The enemy of our souls tries to steal, kill, and destroy.

Jesus had harsh words for people like that:

Jhn 8:44 "You are of [your] father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own [resources], for he is a liar and the father of it.

The truth hurts...especially when one pretends to be someone, or something that they are not. BHO is a perfect example of this. Voters are blinded by color, racial division, pride, free stuff, the division of rich vs. poor, young vs. old, women vs. men, and acceptance (or simply choosing to ignore) and all of the abominations associated with the man which are condemned by God in Scripture. Labeling such things as "the new normal" doesn't make it right with God.

If you don't like what I post, don't visit here. Plain and simple!

I don't need your approval. Would never expect it, either. You don't need my approval.

What matters most is how each of us answer Jesus' question, "Who do you say that I am?"

perhaps one of such knowledge can explain to us where "the breath of life" originated. Life had to start from something ...
dirt we are ... whether monkey or human ... and what about the life? Life started long before "the breath of life" was breathed into Adam. The "breath of life" was the soul and conscience friends ... that event marked the separation between man and beast.
There more but it's Thanksgiving and I'm sure everyone wants to spend time with their families.

Christinewjc said...

Good point, Steve. The difference between humans and animals could not be more obvious! We were created in the "image and likeness of God."

Science can explain some things, but not everything. Logical reasoning is not an absolute law which governs the universe, however, scientists who replace God with themselves - and place a higher level on their own kind of "reasoning" fall hopelessly short of the wisdom and knowledge of God. Such people cannot explain where the soul and conscience came from. They disregard the "breath of life" as coming from God and therefore elevate themselves to their own type of "god."

God laughs at their folly.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

GMpilot said...

CJW: ”The difference between humans and animals could not be more obvious! We were created in the 'image and likeness of God'."

Ah, a hypothesis we can investigate! Work with me on this, now:

If we were created in the image and likeness of God, then that means everyone, from Stephen Hawking to Saddam Hussein to Angelina Jolie to your mother to my sisters—all seven billion of us—bear this 'likeness'. Despite this, though, this God has a history of telling some of his creations that it's okay to destroy some of his other creations. Being the All-Powerful King of the Universe, he could easily have done it himself (he has before), but he has chosen to spread the bloodshed around, along with the guilt.
If you represent the likeness of this God, it's not surprising that 2/3 of humanity wants nothing to do with him; many of them have gods of their own, equally flawed. But I digress.
The only evidence that you were created in this God's image and likeness is in a Jewish book supposedly written by him (although these days it's said to have been 'dictated' by him). It is constantly being updated; the New Testament (Christian), the Newer Testament (Islam) and the Newest Testament (Mormon) demonstrate this. But there has been no confirmation of this so-called fact by anyone, and certainly no independent confirmation; indeed, “God said it, I believe it, and that settles it” appears to be enough for most believers. Even you, the owner of a certificate in apologetics, don't appear to go much beyond that.

”Such people cannot explain where the soul and conscience came from.”
Actually, the origins of what's known as conscience are known. No one, not even godists, can demonstrate that souls even exist, let alone where they come from.

”They disregard the "breath of life" as coming from God and therefore elevate themselves to their own type of 'god.'”
No, gods are credited with having powers that humans cannot duplicate. This doesn't qualify. If God had the 'breath of life', where did he get it from? How did he know he had it, since he was supposedly the only living thing in existence? Show us how you earned that apologetics scroll!

”God laughs at their folly.”
But we're not supposed to laugh back, right? 'Cause we all know how tyrants love to be feared, but can't stand to be laughed at. Well, guess what.

Christinewjc said...

As usual, GM, you are lumping in the goodness of God creating man in his image (meaning we are reflections of God's glory) which includes the conscience, soul, and spirit (a.k.a reason, creativitiy, speech, self-determination, and the ability to reflect his character in our love, patience, forgiveness, kindness and faithfulness) with when, and how, sin entered into the world. Recall Genesis 1:31a - God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

The bloodshed that you refer to came from man's disobedience of God and his desire to know evil.

But you have heard about, and read about all of this over many years. Apparently, there is nothing that could change your mind about it because your mind is made up to reject Christ.

Scientists can study hypothese about where we came from, the existence of a conscience, and the opinions about man having a soul and spirit. However, they cannot say that their theories are facts.

Even after all of these years you still spew a skewed opinion regarding what Bible-based Christians actually believe. You can get more educated on it by reading this brief compilation with Scripture verses to back up the truth:

About God:

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:22; Psalms 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

*About Humankind:

We are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. We are the supreme object of God's creation. Although humankind has tremendous potential for good, we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God, called "sin." This attitude separates us from God.

*About Eternity:

We all were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally in union with God through forgiveness and salvation or separated from God by sin. Heaven is the place of eternal union and eternal life with God. The eternal separation from God is called Hell.

John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; (Hell)

Matthew 25:41; Revelation 21:27 (Heaven)

* About Jesus Christ:

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heavens glory and will return again, to earth, to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; John 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

*About Salvation:

Salvation is a gift from God to mankind. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6; John 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

*About The Holy Spirit:

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make mankind aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual gifts, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian's responsibility is to seek and to live under His will daily.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1

*About Spiritual Gifts:

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to each believer in Jesus Christ, allowing for greater intimacy with God and power for accomplishing His work in our world today. We believe that God, the giver of gifts, gives severally as he wills, and with emphasis on growing maturity in Jesus Christ. These gifts are revealed and then can be used for His purposes and powerfully influence and affect our world for Christ.

1Corinthians 12:4-7, 11, 17, 29, 30

*About The Bible:

The Bible is God's Word to all mankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalms 12:6; 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5

P.S. The God laughs verse comes from Psalms 37

Psa 37:12 The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth.

Psa 37:13 The Lord laughs at him, For He sees that his day is coming.

Psa 37:14 The wicked have drawn the sword And have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay those who are of upright conduct.

Psa 37:15 Their sword shall enter their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.

Psa 37:16 A little that a righteous man has [Is] better than the riches of many wicked.

Psa 37:17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the LORD upholds the righteous.

Psa 37:18 The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever.
