Nothing New Under the Sun, But God is Our Refuge and Strength!

HT:  First Covers.com

Several posts ago, I shared a story where I mentioned that this blog reached the "top 100 world politics blog list" over at Technorati.  Well, it didn't last long because my latest post must have annoyed the liberals over there.  As usual, Technorati shows it's liberal bias!

Of course, the liberal leftist techies over there are going to reject an historic march of veterans storming Washington D.C., tearing down the Barry-cades and dropping them out in front of The Spite House [that used to be The People's White House]!

How do I feel about Talk Wisdom's drop in rank at Technorati?  Ehh...so what?  Actually, I wear the negative deduction as a badge of honor! Plus, I think I'm in good company:

It appears that even when a blogger mentions a liberal who criticizes the awful ObamaSCARE HELLcare roll-out, it's a no-no in Technorati land:

The liberal thin-skins also don't like criticism of a show called "Homeland," either!

I must admit that the episode was quite uneven, too violent and bloody [what else is new?] and really confusing. Even though it's ranked as a "hit show," it's really not for me.

I prefer uplifting and celebration-of-life love stories like the kind I often find on the Hallmark channel.

I know...call me Pollyanna! But there is enough evil, sin, and death going on in the real world, so why would I want to watch fictional stories about these same awful things?

There is good reason why God's Word - The Bible - tells us what to meditate on:

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

I take God's Word to heart and I find that when I do, the problems of this world all fade away and blow to dust.

 Why?

Because God is our refuge and our strength!

Today's Turning Point devotional reiterates this point:

Today's Devotional - October 15

Inside and Outside

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed ….
Psalm 46:1-2

According to Psalm 46, there are external and internal provisions from the Lord in times of disaster, for God is both our refuge and strength.

The external provision of His grace is seen in the word refuge. A person being chased might run toward a fortress and race across the mote as the drawbridge is being raised. He'll find himself enclosed within the walls of safety. As Martin Luther said, "A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing!"

The internal provision is the strength God gives. According to Psalm 46:1, the same God who is our refuge on the outside is our strength on the inside. I wonder if you've discovered the "strength" verses of the Bible. There's no room to list them here, but sometime when you feel worried or weary look up the references to strength in the Bible. The Book of Isaiah says God renews our strength (Isaiah 40:31), and Paul said, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

Both within and around you, God is your refuge and strength.

If He is our refuge and strength … then we shall never fear under any circumstances, not even though the earth be removed.

CJW: ”...I mentioned that this blog reached the "top 100 world politics blog list" over at Technorati. Well, it didn't last long because my latest post must have annoyed the liberals over there. ”

Oooh, poor baby! Most stats and lists on the web change every hour—often sooner. As a webmistress you should know that. It's been a whole eight days since you published that list! You still made the list, something many blogs never manage—and now you're getting a twist in your underwear because your position on that list shifted? Technorati isn't the Sacred Scrolls, meant to be permanent and everlasting, you know.

”Of course, the liberal leftist techies over there are going to reject an historic march of veterans storming Washington D.C., tearing down the Barry-cades... ”

When one or another vet injures himself tearing down a barrier, that same vet will likely go to...um...a VA hospital, perhaps? Which now operates with smaller staffs due to the shutdown? Will those same vets, myself among them, get their pensions two weeks from now? I know a few such men, and they seem to know exactly who's to blame (HINT: it isn't Obama).
Also, aren't there any right-leaning techies? I mean, you managed it!

I don't watch much TV, Pollyanna. Certainly Homeland is not on my list. I assume that you went in knowing what kind of show it was. You didn't like Desperate Housewives either, but for a while you woudn't stop whining about it. If you like Hallmark so much, stay with it!

BTW, you might inform R.A. Torrey of his error. A mote (as in a brother's eye can be run across in a nanosecond. The other kind surrounds castles, and has a different spelling. Nothing wrong with his sincerity, though.

Actually, it took them 8 days to update my blog posts over there.

No need to worry about my "underwear" - you dirty old man. As usual, you have completely missed the purpose of the current post.

And, the comment about Homeland was to show how thin-skinned the liberals are when being criticized.

I beg to differ with you on whom the vets blame for the shutdown.
Those who showed up at the WWII Memorial event certainly knew who to blame for the Barry-cades! And they physically presented the buffoon responsible for them with a "present" outside his Spite House.

Why don't you tell R.A. Torrey of his error? What am I? Your secretary?

It's weird. There are leftist leaning vets (like yourself) who refuse to see the merits of those whose ideology disagrees with yours. They see Barry O. for what he is - and you refuse to see it. That's too bad. You just continue to demonstrate how blinded you are to the truth. And that veil over your eyes continues to shield you from admitting how wrong you are regarding Obammy and his ilk.

Such a shame! You have fallen hook, line, and sinker for the sham!

Yadda yadda yadda....you've said all that before. You've decried his (supposedly) foreign origins, his (possible) devotion to Islam, his (unconfirmed) “crimes”, his (undocumented) sexuality, his (ostensibly) subversive actions since assuming office, his (alleged) secret decoder ring...and none of it has any substance.
NO conspiracy can be so all-encompassing that the truth doesn't leak out somewhere, something concrete and undeniable—but none of your blog buddies have revealed anything yet. After five years there should be something, don't you think? Or don't you think?

If you wanted to demonstrate that liberals don't like shows such as Homeland, why did you complain about it being 'too violent and bloody'? Not bloody enough, maybe, since you probably watched the whole thing.

”Why don't you tell R.A. Torrey of his error? What am I? Your secretary?”

You thought he was good enough to quote, so I thought you, as a fellow Christian, would take him aside and show him his error. Didn't you say you worked in education?

”It's weird. There are leftist leaning vets (like yourself) who refuse to see the merits of those whose ideology disagrees with yours. They see Barry O. for what he is--”

What, you mean President of the United States?
If I wanted to hang with people whose 'ideology' agrees with mine, I would not be at talkwisdom.blogspot.com. But I don't mind clashing swords with my opposites. Too bad for you.

This proves that you didn't read the link. The post was obviously critical of the TV show, and thus the post was criticized BY A LIBERAL at Technorati because the blog suffered a huge deduction in authority points.

Look at this!! Technorati must have seen my critical post about them and they dropped my blog over 400 points!
