Alive Together With Christ

Life Begets Life

Even when we were dead in trespasses, [God] made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).
Ephesians 2:5

Try this experiment to see the difference in life and death. Take three raw carrots and cut the tops off each, one inch from the end. Boil one of the tops for five minutes, bake another at 325 degrees for five minutes, and leave the third carrot top raw. Then put all three tops in a dish containing a half-inch of water, keeping the water replenished as needed. After a few days, one of the carrot tops will begin to sprout. Guess which one?

Enzymes are the life force in raw food, and they are destroyed at temperatures exceeding 115 degrees Fahrenheit. When the enzymes are destroyed, food is no longer alive. Just so, human beings have a life force: the spirit, or the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). Man's spirit--His ability to connect to the life of God through God's Spirit--is dead because of sin. But when the Spirit of God enters into man at the moment of salvation, life is restored. Though man is "dead in trespasses," the Spirit of God makes us "alive together with Christ."

If you want to live now and live forever, connected to God, make sure you are alive by the Spirit of God through faith in Christ. Only Life can beget life.
