States Are Saying - Don't Tread On Us!

The Right Side of Life: States Formally Declare: Don’t Tread On Us!

Excerpt:

The Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution expressly reserves all powers to the states which are not delegated to the federal government. Over the course of decades, there have been increasing federal mandates and acts designed to effectively step in and legislate the affairs of our various states from Washington D.C.

Federal usurpation into state affairs severely limits the ability of state governments to operate according to their citizens’ wishes. We believe that the best government is one which governs closer to the people.

As of this announcement, legislatures in nine states’ have acted on bi-partisan support and have passed their respective resolutions to affirm states’ rights. These are: Alaska (HJR27), Georgia (SR632), Idaho (HJM4), Indiana (SR42), Missouri (HCR13), North Dakota (HCR3063), Oklahoma (HJR1003), South Carolina (H3509) and South Dakota (HCR1013).

It appears that there are 25 more states which presently have similar resolutions pending.

The current price of erosion of states’ rights exceeds $11 trillion. Without the countless attempts in Washington to duplicate and micromanage our states’ affairs, much of this debt could have been avoided.

It is our sincere desire that each of you sees this popular issue as a means to more effectively carry out your duties to the citizens you work so hard to represent. We call on you to join us so that, together, we can make a difference.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or to discuss how our states can work together to bring back government closer to the people.

Heard about this on Glenn Beck’s show, May 7th. What GREAT NEWS!! It’s about time that WE THE PEOPLE in the states DO SOMETHING about this awful power grab that usurper ObamaFRAUD and his cohorts are wielding in this nation!

Do you think the federal government should overturn the new marriage equality laws in Maine and Vermont -- written by the state legislatures -- if an administration came to power with the intent to do so? Do you support a federal constitutional amendment to outlaw gay marriage in all 50 states: the sort of amendment proposed by former president G. W. Bush?

Jessica,

I think it is more likely that the current liberal leader majority in Washington would overturn DOMA (which was signed into law by former President Clinton - a democrat!) before they would ever be likely to pass a federal CONSTITUTIONAL amendment.

How many people make up a state legislature? The passage of such a law in Maine and Vermont does not always reflect the will of the people.

California is a great example. The courts instituted, and forced, "gay" marriage upon our state. The people rose up and got petitions signed to get it on the ballot for election 2008. Proposition 8 passed and wrote that "only marriage between one man and one woman is recognized as legal and valid in California" into our state constitution. IMO, THAT was the right way to do it. The majority of people voted to keep the definition of marriage as it has been for thousands of years.

However, in Vermont and Maine, only a few people in powerful positions (who are supposed to be carrying out the will of the people) instituted "gay" marriage upon everyone in that state. I don't think that is the right way to do it. But that is just my opinion.

P.S. I think that Vermont and Maine pro-gay marriage officials realized that after CA passed a state constitutional amendment IN FAVOR OF TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE when the people in LIBERAL CALIFORNIA voted, it showed them that they cannot win this debate via the ballot box. That is why they went through their liberal lawmakers in their individual state legislatures.

Massachusetts pro-traditional family advocates have been trying FOR YEARS to get the "gay" marriage issue up for a vote by THE PEOPLE - but the powers-that-be there probably KNOW that they would lose at the ballot box. Therefore, they are doing everything in their power to PREVENT any propositions from coming before the PEOPLE OF MASSACHUSETTS in voting ballot form, to prevent the WILL OF THE PEOPLE from speaking on this issue.

Remember. If the vote in CA on Prop. 8 had gone the other way - the pro-gay activists would have prevented the traditional definition of marriage to stand in the state.

Just because they lost at the ballot box, they will verbally bash, harrass, and torture anyone (e.g. Miss California) who disagrees with their indoctrination agenda.

They lost. They need to get over it.

I feel the same way about Republican conspiracy-mongers (I won't mention any names) and the 2008 Presidential election.
