Your Prayers and Calls Helped!

Thank God for the veto! And thank Jesus for the timely replacement of our former governor. Having a Republican Governor who sees the legitimate concerns of parents and grandparents has made all the difference regarding this issue. Gov. Arnold has promised to veto this awful bill! His decision has been key to ending the threat of what would have been the disastrous implementation of SB1437!

However, the war going on within our state (and the country, for that matter) between two conflicting worldviews is certainly sure to rage on. We cannot rest and still need to press on against those who wish to take away parents rights to raise their children as they see fit! We need to encourage Gov. Arnold to also pledge to veto AB 606 and AB 1056. The sexual indoctrination tactics of the far left Democrats in our state legislature have become so insane and ridiculous! Let us also pray that the Lord will raise up more pro-family, conservative leaders in our state!

CCF calls upon California Governor to announce he’ll veto two remaining bills

Sacramento, California -- According to today’s Sacramento Bee , Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has promised to veto SB 1437, one of three transsexual-bisexual-homosexual “education” bills in the California State Legislature.

The newspaper, which contacted Campaign for Children and Families for response late Wednesday, wrote in Thursday’s edition that, according to the Governor’s communications office, Arnold Schwarzenegger will veto SB 1437 if it reaches his desk.

“We’re very pleased that Schwarzenegger is listening to the concerns of parents,” said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families (CCF), a leading California-based pro-family organization that strongly opposes SB 1437. “Now the Governor needs to pledge to veto the two remaining sexual indoctrination bills, AB 606 and AB 1056. Parents and grandparents are demanding it.”

All three bills rely upon the strange definition of “gender” in Penal Code, Section 422.56, reading: “Gender” means sex, and includes a person's gender identity and gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth. “This terrible trio of bills would promote cross-dressing and sex-change operations to children as young as kindergarten,” said Thomasson. “Schools should be about academics, not about promoting alternative sexual lifestyles to impressionable schoolchildren.”

SB 1437 would prohibit textbooks, instructional materials, and school-sponsored activities from “reflecting adversely” on transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality; it requires positive portrayals of these sexual lifestyles in curriculum in all grades in all public schools. Consequently, schools would have to promote “same-sex marriages” and even sex-change procedures.

STATUS: Assembly Education Committee, no hearing scheduled.

AB 606 would authorize the California Superintendent of Public Instruction to arbitrarily withhold state funds (around 2/3rds of a school district’s budget) from any district that does not adequately promote transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality in its school policies. AB 606 repeals the current state law prohibiting transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual curriculum from being forced upon local schools, and authorizes the state Superintendent to develop new curriculum that affirms transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality in all its forms.

STATUS: June 21 hearing scheduled in the Senate Education Committee.

AB 1056 would spend $250,000 in taxpayer dollars to promote transsexual, bisexual, and homosexual lifestyles under the banner of “tolerance education.”

STATUS: On the “suspense” file in the Senate Education Committee.

Foolish rhetoric like that of Elton John's is just one of the many reasons why the bills mentioned in this blogpost are ridiculously inane to even propose to teach children in public school!!

P.S. BTW, what is with Sheila Kuehl and her "underling" comment? Sheesh! Does that woman have any respect for anyone?

From WND link:

"Democratic state Sen. Sheila Kuehl, the openly lesbian author of the measure Schwarzenegger plans to veto, expressed disbelief that the governor already has made up his mind on a bill that still hadn't been vetted by one house of the Legislature, the Sacramento paper said.

"He hasn't made up his mind, I don't care what some underling might have said," insisted Kuehl, who said she had not spoken with the governor yet about the bill."

Well...she better believe it because he will veto it! Thank God!

Gay School Bill in Trouble

You must register in order to read the entire article at The Sacramento Bee, however the brief blurb below gives us an idea what criteria Gov. Arnold is using for his promised veto of SB 1437:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will veto a bill passed by the Senate and pending in the Assembly to revise California's school curriculum to include the contributions of gays and lesbians to the state and nation, a gubernatorial spokesman said Wednesday. "The governor believes that school curriculum should include all important historical figures, regardless of orientation," said Schwarzenegger's director of communications, Adam Mendelsohn. "However, he does not support the Legislature micromanaging curriculum."

Great point!!
