Surrender Is Not An Option

2Ti 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

This is certainly one book that I will read. In the essay below (from Newsmax email), Bolton is quoted:

Nonetheless, our 2008 national elections will be extraordinarily consequential, involving critical choices on national security.

I agree wholeheartedly!

This is why it is crucial that Americans are made aware of the "cut and run" political ideologies that the Democratic nominees espouse. Each may have their own degree of cut and run philosophy, but notice that not one Democrat (except Joseph Lieberman...God bless him!) wants our troops to remain in Iraq until we finish our goals there (as laid out by General Petraus and President Bush) and win.

Period.

End of story.

And it's the truth.

Whether their (Democrats) reasons are purely for political expediency or just for their genuine belief that "the war is already lost," the fact that they are even thinking such a thing is detrimental to our brave troops, undermines our efforts there, and makes America appear to be wrong for fighting this war.

The appearances of John Bolton and the knowledge he has shared on interviews at the Fox News Channel proves to me, even further than ever before, that we are fighting a necessary war in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Americans can disagree all they want. That is their right.

However, there are some Americans....even Congressman and Senators (e.g. John Murtha, John Kerry, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi etc.) whose treason-like rantings have done tremendous damage. With the loonie left dafts known as the MSM as their partners in crime, their constant undermining of our efforts in the war continues to hurt our nation and its standing in the world. It's almost - dare I say - like they are siding with the terrorists!! If the truth be told, there are some who are doing just that! I won't mention any names.

Even worse, we have heard some of the Democratic nominees say the most ridiculous things regarding how to deal with Iran. Sometimes, I can't believe that they aren't laughed off the stage at the debates because of their weak foreign policy ideas.

Oh yes. No matter how many crazy ideas are put out there by the Dem nominees, there will always be anti-war leftists and uninformed voters (especially the young who get the unchallenged, leftist political news via Bill Maher's "Real Time" show) who will vote for the Democrat who ultimately wins the nomination. But I think that the majority of the American people are smart enough to see how wrong they really are.

With all of the mistakes that the new Democratic majority in both the House and Senate have made so far, I cannot see how it would be possible for Americans to see fit electing any one of the Democrats vying for the nomination in 2008 to the office of the Presidency.

The political attacks will be escalating over the next year. However, I think that whomever the Democrats choose as their nominee won't really matter.

Why?

Because every single one of them are weak on the War against Radical Islam, whereas, every Republican nominee (except for that loon, Ron Paul) is strong on this issue.

We know that God works all things together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Perhaps the congressional swing to the left in the 2006 election was actually a blessing in disguise. Congress' approval rating, at one point, was close to reaching single digit ranking (if I recall correctly, it got down as low as 11% in some polls)!

How devastating is that?

Pelosi, Reid and clueless company have turned out to represent our best chance to get the Republican nominee elected to the presidency in 2008.

Keep praying...people.

We need to ask for God's continued protection that He has so graciously afforded us ever since 9/11/01.

Despite the sins, errors, and mistakes we make on this earth, I truly believe that it is the hand of God that has protected us over the last six + years. Ever since that devastating attack upon our nation, it has been the faithful in Jesus Christ whose prayers have been sent up, and answered in order to keep us safe.

Let us not cease to honor, praise, thank, and ask for God's mercy, grace and love to be bestowed upon our great nation. He is the only One who can heal our land.

Christine

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

2Ti 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, (continued below in NASB version)

With no-holds-barred candor, the straight-talking former ambassador to the United Nations takes readers behind the scenes at the U.N. and the U.S. State Department and reveals why his efforts to defend American interests and reform the U.N. resulted in controversy. A veteran of three Republican administrations and a nominee for the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, Bolton shows how the U.S. can lead the way to a more realistic global security arrangement for the twenty-first century and identifies the next generation of threats to America. The son of a Baltimore firefighter and the first person in his family to go to college, with scholarships to Yale University and Yale Law School, John Bolton studied with preeminent conservative thinkers Robert Bork and Ralph Winter.

After law school, he experienced the "Reagan Revolution" firsthand in Edwin Meese's justice department — where the American judiciary was fundamentally reshaped. His diplomatic skills were honed working with Secretary of State James Baker during the presidency of George H. W. Bush, and serving in the administration of President George W. Bush as Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs.

In this revealing memoir, he candidly recounts his appointment in 2005 as Ambassador to the United Nations, his headline-making Senate confirmation battle, which resulted in his recess appointment, and his sixteen-month tenure at the United Nations.

Bolton offers keen insight into such international crises as North Korea's nuclear test, Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons, the genocide in Darfur, the month long negotiation that produced the controversial end of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, and more.

Recounting both his successes and frustrations in taking a hard line against weapons-of-mass destruction proliferators, terrorists, and rogue states such as North Korea and Iran, he also exposes the operational inadequacies that hinder the U.N.'s effectiveness in international diplomacy and its bias against Israel and the United States. At home, he criticizes the pernicious bureaucratic inertia in the U.S. State Department that can undermine presidential policy.

A fascinating chronicle of the career of a distinguished lawyer and diplomat who has fought to preserve American sovereignty and strength at home and abroad, 'Surrender Is Not an Option' is the candid memoir of one of America's outstanding statesmen that is sure to become required reading for everyone interested in international affairs.

"While in government, it is almost impossible to step back from the press of events, reflect on what you're doing, and make course corrections except on an incremental basis. As the saying goes, the urgent crowds out the important. Nonetheless, our 2008 national elections will be extraordinarily consequential, involving critical choices on national security.

These choices will certainly be far broader than the course we should pursue in Iraq...The proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and especially North Korea and Iran; the unsettled Middle East, with manifold threats to our friends and interests, such as Israel, democracy in Lebanon, and the region's oil and gas reserves; Russia's renewed aggressiveness, and its quest for renewed superpower status; and China's large and growing demand for energy and its rapidly increasing military budgets and capabilities are among the immediately recognizable problems."

John Bolton was appointed by President George W. Bush as United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations in 2005 and served until his appointment expired in December 2006. He was nominated for the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for playing a major role in exposing Iran's secret plans to develop nuclear weapons.

An attorney who has spent many years in public service and held high-level positions in the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, Bolton is currently a Senior Fellow at American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., and a commentator for Fox News Channel. He lives outside of Baltimore, Maryland, with his wife and daughter.

2 Timothy 1 (NASB)

2Ti 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
2Ti 1:2 To Timothy, my beloved son: Grace, mercy {and} peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
2Ti 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day,
2Ti 1:4 longing to see you, even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.
2Ti 1:5 For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that {it is} in you as well.
2Ti 1:6 For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
2Ti 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.
2Ti 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with {me} in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,
2Ti 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
2Ti 1:10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
2Ti 1:11 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher.
2Ti 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
2Ti 1:13 Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 1:14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to {you.}
2Ti 1:15 You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
2Ti 1:16 The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;
2Ti 1:17 but when he was in Rome, he eagerly searched for me and found me--
2Ti 1:18 the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on that day--and you know very well what services he rendered at Ephesus.

Here's a great article at Newsmax:

Sen. Martinez: Democrats Will Put America at Risk

Calm down, Christine. I'm sure 8 years of Hillary will soothe your worries. I personally can't wait for another Clinton administration -- and this time I'm clearly in the majority. :)
