It Will Take A Miracle

What will take a miracle? The coming presidential election of 2008. I cannot be the only one who sees its twists and turns as wildly bizarre.

It will take a miracle for a genuine conservative candidate to be elected. Bottom line? If McCain gets his 1191 delegates, then he will be the Republican nominee. Mike Huckabee has pledged to stay in the race until that happens.

My email box fills up daily with links to posts and articles about this election. I've got several links to share.

First, Newt Gingrich warns of GOP catastrophe. I can see his point regarding the low turnout of Republican voters vs. the high turnout of Democrat voters in the primaries. However, I don't agree with his idea to defect and declare independence from the party. If this election goes to the Democrats? Then I might agree that it's time to think about conservative independence from the now liberal Republican party. However, we still do have one true conservative Republican running.

Paul Weyrich is now supporting him. He writes:

I call upon all my fellow conservatives to get out and support him. A big vote for Huckabee is the best way to send a message to McCain and the Republican establishment that this is an election, not a coronation.

Good point. That is why I admire Huckabee for not caving in to the pressure he is currently receiving to drop out of the race. He is not ignorant, however. He agrees that if McCain receives the 1191 delegates needed for the nomination, then he would bow out gracefully.

See Huck's Sunday T.V. .

I have been trying to warm up to the idea of holding my nose and voting for John McCain if he ends up being the Republican nominee. Then, I read this disasterous report:

John McCain funded by Soros since 2001
Candidate's Reform Institute also accepted funds from Teresa Kerry

UGH!!!!! George SOROS?? That licientious, liberal left LUNATIC who wreaks so much anti-Christian havoc in this country it would make your head spin??

Now I understand why Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh cannot possibly support him.

I'm sure that there are millions of Republicans who don't even know who George Soros is and/or what he represents. That will be to the detriment of our party in this election cycle. Unless this terrible news gets out...and is heard far and wide by the conservative Christian base... they will most likely go to the primaries (those that are left) and pull the lever for McCain just because they see him as the Republican "coronated" frontrunner.

Lord? Please help us!!!

I wanted to share this link to a video ad for Obama. After you view the video, can anyone out there tell me what that symbol at the end of the video stands for?

Obama Ad

My question.

Why did he choose not to display the United States of America flag at the end??

Hmmm....

Ok, you know that I have to take issue with saying that Huckabee is a true Conservative Republican. I would say that he is the candidate that True Conservative Republicans should unite behind, because he is the only option left other than McCain, and a McCain nomination would be horrendous.

I do think that it is possible that if Conservatives United behind Huckabee, he just might be more apt to act Conservatively as President, at least he might be reasonable, which, it is certain, McCain would not.

You are correct, it will take a Miracle. Fortunately, God is pretty good at those.

Christine, there has been only one time I have boycotted a presidential election. That was when the Republicans fielded Bob Dole up against Bill Clinton. I was simply disgusted and refused to vote. I could not believe their incredible idiocy.

This will be my second time. John McCain greatly disturbs me. He is the least likeliest person I would want as a president for too many reasons. I would rather Obama win.

So I wont be voting. I refuse to have my conscience bothered by voting for the current choice of candidates.

Its sad the Republicans are headed for such a disastrous outcome. From what I have been sensing others are contemplating doing the same, almost ensuring that the Dems will win.

Christine;

I looked to see the symbol and I don't really think it is meant to be anything other than a logo. Yes, a flag would be nice - he probably tried to incorporate lots of things. It's probably just marketing!

Regarding the vote, I'm sure we will never agree on whom to vote, but I think it's irresponsible for anyone not to vote...we should all let our voices be heard - for too long, too many weren't even able to cast a vote!

I hope you are well!

Matt,

Is one of the reasons that you don't see Huckabee as a true conservative because he is thought to be soft on illegal immigration? In the debates, he did admit to "not punishing the children" of illegal immigrants because of the actions of their parents. I also heard that he raised taxes (once, in ten years) as Gov. of Tennessee. Ronald Reagan did the same as CA Gov.; but as President he lowered taxes.

What else do you see about him (Huckabee) that discourages you from labeling him as a true conservative?

gcmwatch,

Obama's liberalism on social issues (pro-abortion, pro-same-sex-marriage, taxing people to death for social programs etc.) and his lack of knowledge about foreign policy (he wanted to bomb Pakistan!!!), refusal to acknowledge the huge threat of Islamo-facism across the world in the War on Terrorism is scarier (to me, personally) than anything McCain might do.

Unless something big happens to change the next few primary results (or, unless Huckabee goes to the convention), then it appears that we will be stuck with McCain as our nominee.

I see that Obama is a very likeable guy. I get that. He inspires a lot of people. But the down side of his beliefs make it impossible for me to ever vote for him. The vote against the Born Alive Infants Protection legislation cemented my decision against him. For someone to vote against a bill that would have allowed medical treatment for an infant born from a botched abortion procedure (usually done during a late term abortion) and, instead believes that the child lay there, suffer and die on the cold steel exam table (just because he/she was originally earmarked for abortion) is unconscionable cruelty!

All of Obama's nice-sounding rhetoric for "hope" and "change" pales in the face of his belief that such a baby ought to die in such a horrendous and cruel way. Gives me nightmares just thinking about it...

Hi MB!

It's so nice to see you back here!

I hope you are correct that the symbol at the end of the video is harmless. Perhaps I worry too much about such things.

However, I ran across a blog that showed some Obama campaign workers in one of the Texas primary offices with a flag displaying the face of a Cuban radical superimposed on the flag. I need to search for it to post the link. That was certainly scary to see!

I agree that we should all exercise our right to vote. Sometimes, I think that Americans take our freedoms for granted! And when we do, we can tend to skip voting for various reasons. I have to admit, I have been tempted not to vote this year if the choices are Obama (or Hillary) and McCain.

I see the lack of enthusiasm (on the Republican side) in the primaries because so few have come out to vote. The Dems, on the other hand, have had huge turn-outs.

There is something to be said for motivation, inspiration, and enthusiasm.

Thanks for commenting! My family and I are doing very well, thank you! How are things with you and your family? Love that pic of your beautiful daughter...so cute!!

Here's a link to Hot Air with the pic of Che Guevara on a flag in the background at Obama's Texas HQ's.

wow....

Note the many comments there. Look at this one:

Cripes! The murderous Che Guevera printed on the flag of CUBA, and hung as a mast head in one of Barack Hussein Obama’s campaign offices… in the State of Texas???

Oh well, maybe it serves some sort of useful purpose (after all, they’re obviously useful idiots), like getting the Latino’s to vote for Barack Hussein Obama instead of Hillary Clinton, or something.

Unfrigginbelievable … or NOT!

It appears that the photo was originally a video...which has since been taken down...

Christine,
The illegal Immigrant thing is only one thing. I have to object mostly to the fact that he tried to use his Christianity as the reason why he wouldn't punish the children, which just doesn't jive, Exodus 34:7 (for one example) says, "Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth [generation]."

Also, he has been in support of liberal social programs, which is not a Conservative Principle.

While Huckabee is socially Conservative, he's not fiscally Conservative. And that's still an important thing.

But he would be better than McCain.

Also, I have to agree with MB, not voting is not an option. As I've said before, and I'll keep right on saying it. The worse the choices for President are, the more important the Congress becomes. There is still time to wake people up and elect good people to Congress. If McCain gets the GOP nod, we MUST wake people up, as the Congress will be our only hope. Of course, even if we were to win the Presidency (that is to say put a good real Conservative in there) and end up with a radical, ultra-liberal Congress, we'd still be doomed.

The moonbat responsible has been found.

I ask all who read here.

If this happened at a Republican nominee's headquarters, wouldn't it be all over the news?

MSM bias...anyone?
