Obama Rama Ding-BAT!

Michele Obama takes heat for saying she's proud of my country for the first time.

Excerpt:

Speaking in Milwaukee, Wis., on Monday, she said, “People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and … for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”

Well, I wish I could just say that it was a just an ordinary, ding-bat kind of "verbal gaffe" or a "misstatement." Why do I make such a judgment? Because she went to another campaign stop in another state and said it again!!!

Obama delivered an amended version of the speech later that day in Madison, Wis.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” she said. “I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.”
The woman is intelligent, articulate, educated and savvy. The statement was obviously written in her campaign notes, too!! Can't put the blame on ding-batism...

What's worse is the fact that she didn't come out and address the controversy herself. She apparently left it up to someone involved in the Obama campaign.

Not good.

Contrast that with what one would expect a future First Lady to say about her country:

“I am proud of my country,” John McCain’s wife, Cindy, said at a campaign stop in Brookfield, Wis., Tuesday. “I don’t know if you heard those words earlier … but I am very proud of my country.”

WorldNetDaily has a poll up:

What do you think of Michelle Obama's newfound patriotism?

O I agree wholeheartedly with what she said

O It's understandable coming from a black woman

O It's just hyperbole, an overstatement

O Michelle is articluate, but she just made a verbal gaffe

O Michelle's statement is irrelevant. We're voting for president, not first lady

O It reveals the leftist, 'hate America' mentality the Obamas have

O The remark is appalling, and it's frightening her husband might be president

O Could you imagine not feeling pride for America on Sept. 12, 2001?

O She sounds like a privileged, ungrateful, spoiled brat

O Other

Thanks for the post. I didn't realize she said roughly the same thing again. That shows that it was scripted and not some off the cuff remark. Politicians and their wives say so many things that I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt for single missteps. But twice makes it clear that she meant it and it was premeditated.

Hi Neil,

That explains why she would not come out and "clarify" her own statements! People from the campaign (and/or supporters and news commentators for the Obamas) have been making the rounds and doing that.

Just excuses. Of course she meant it.

She's scary! I shudder to think that she could possibly be our next first lady! I cringe to think Obama would be president!

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Welp....it appears that Michele Obama has made some additional disturbing comments in the past.

Note what she said at a rally on Super Bowl Sunday:

America and It's Broken Souls

HT: Holly at On the Write Side

Holly writes:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama's wife is under fire for a recent statement she made in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Monday.

“People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”

This a sentiment that may play well to the far left but to many others it does not. Many, myself included, feel there are plenty of other reasons to be proud of America besides the rise of Barack Obama.

However, this is not the first time that Michelle Obama has made outlandish statements that is sure to send some Americans reeling.

When speaking of her husband at a rally at UCLA on Super Bowl Sunday, Michelle Obama made the following statements about her husband with what the Washington Post called an "evangelical tone."

"We need to fix our souls," she said. "Our souls are broken in this nation. We have lost our way. And it begins with inspiration. It begins with leadership."

Can you imagine if Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's wife had made such a comment? It would have received a lot more news coverage and accusations of fascism would run amuck.

However in reality, Huckabee's wife, Janet Huckabee would never make such an outlandish statement. Her church adheres to the belief that Jesus Christ is the savior of broken souls-not a politician.

Give 'em enough rope and they will eventually hang the themselves...

She said what she meant and meant what she said.

Looks like Michelle Obama will only be "proud" of the United States when her husband is a frontrunner for the presidency... talk about somebody who's hard to please!

Christine,
It's funny that we both did a post on this, and while they are quite differant in wording and precise content, we are in complete agreement.
Excellent post.

Hi Mark,

With the MSM on their side, very little information about the Obamas' negative points gets out there. The Michele Obama comment was way to big to ignore, so they had to report it. I read on another blog that most of the liberal stations (ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN) downplayed her remarks - giving her the benefit of the doubt that she somehow "misspoke" what she truly meant. I just cannot see how anyone could spin it positively. It appears to have been written in her speech notes - especially because she said it twice!!

There are so many people who are blindly following Obama. It's truly scary...

Christinewjc said...

Doug,

I need to get over to your blog! I'm sure that you have some really good and funny posts to read about this incident! I certainly can use a good laugh this morning!

Christinewjc said...

Thanks Matt! Read your post at your blog and it is very good! I enjoyed the detail that you included.

I just hope that Mark is correct. I am praying that something big will happen to cause the Obama campaign to come crashing down from its false-messiah-like pedestal!
