Life and Liberty Hangs in the Balance

Spotted this video presentation of a painting done by Jon McNaughton over at Nice Deb and it literally moved me to tears!

I weep for what we have lost here in America - the deep knowledge of the Bible and the heritage of our Christian faith.

I weep for what we are losing at such an accelerated pace - our freedoms and liberty - due to the tyrannical government we have.

I weep for those who have shoved God and His Son, Jesus Christ, out of their lives.

I weep for those who have never taken Jesus' offer of salvation seriously, and therefore ignore it and do not accept it.

I weep for our children who are now living in an America that I never thought I would ever see in my lifetime. I could go on and on. But most regular readers here could easily add to this list.

However, I also have tears of joy because I know who I am in Jesus Christ. I know that millions of saved Christians also know who they are in Christ and are evangelizing across the globe - including through the vehicle of the Internet.

Jesus told us that a sign of the coming Rapture would be both a falling away from the faith (heresy, apostasy, false religions, atheism etc. -all of which are happening today) as well as the Gospel being spread throughout the world. There has been no time in history - other than the computer age - where the Gospel could literally be spread throughout the entire world in seconds! How many people have read the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in just one day, accepted it and have also accepted the fact that the Word of God, the Bible, is ultimate Truth? We may never know the answer to that question on this side of heaven.

What a beautiful painting! Jesus is the center of the scene, and rightfully so.

Is He the center of your life?

UPDATE!! Just discovered this at the McNaughton website!

Go to this page and run the mouse over the people in the painting to find out who they are and/or what they represent! Awesome!

Hi Christine:

You are beautiful when you spread the message of true freedom in the Messiah.

His Name is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13).

Christ is not part of my life, He IS my LIFE.

Love to you and your family on the West coast from the East coast of one nation under God. (ss)

Just out of curiosity, then...did you pray yesterday for God to take over cleaning up the oil spill, as Sarah Palin suggested?

Hi Susan! You are beautiful when you write wisdom filled comments like this: "Christ is not part of my life, He IS my LIFE."

Absolutely!

Amen!

GMPilot - I had not heard about Palin's suggestion until I read it here. It is good to pray about all things, including your salvation. But it doesn't always mean that you will act to answer such prayer. Free will and all that - you know?

Since the human beings supposedly in charge of capping the oil spill seem unable to do so (until August - according to an engineer my husband knows) it may take the hand of God to ultimately stop it. However, even then the nonbelievers would not give God the glory in the situation.

As Jesus said (paraphrased here) 'They still will refuse to believe, even when one is raised from the dead.'

The Bible teaches us that God's answer to prayer can be "no," "yes," or even delayed for His ultimate purposes to be fulfilled. It is often in hindsight that we see Him working through the good, the bad, and the ugly here on this earth.

Jesus said, "In this world, you will have trouble, but take heart! For I have overcome the world."

Redemption of the souls of men is the greatest act of mercy ever known. Reconcilation between sinful man and Holy God was made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. There is no greater love...

Hi Christine,

Thanks for sharing another post that generates deep thought, and self-examination. With God we are truly happy, without God, Satan gets a toe-hold into our lives, governments, etc. Have a blessed day.

That was a simple yes-or-no question, Christine. It didn't require a sermon to answer.

No, I doubt that that the nonbelievers will give glory to God if the spill is capped. I don't recall hearing anyone giving any glory to God when the Deepwater Horizon blew up and sank in the first place. Also, I must admit I don't understand how God gets any glory out of this, unless good old Isaiah 45:7 is invoked.

As for God's multiple answers: the same answers could be garnered with a “Magic 8-Ball” from any novelty store. I know you think more highly of your God than that, but you sure don't talk like it!

By the way...did you pray for the spill to stop? If you did, why, since it was obviously his will for the spill to happen?

Which is kind of the attitude that an immature and unrepentant child takes when punishment for bad behavior is handed out. They generally sulk, take the position that they have no responsibility in the matter, and behave as though they can do nothing to improve the situation. On the other hand, a person who recognizes their part in the problem can attempt to correct their behavior, acknowledge the fault, and try to restore the relationship with the parent, which is generally the reason that a good parent hands down punishment in the first place.

I'm kind of reminded of the drought situation we had in Georgia here a while back. Things were awfully dry. The governor, aside from putting in water conservation measures, announced that he was going to pray to God for rain. That really upset people on the left. And then it started to rain, and that really, really upset people on the left. But by all means, go ahead and sulk, GM. That is, after all, what secular liberals do best.
