Happy 2008!

Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a safe, and healthy celebration last night.

My husband and I went out to dinner at one of our favorite seafood restaurants. During the hour long wait for a table, we enjoyed some red wine at the bar. We were lucky enough to get a little table in the bar area.

I realize that many Christians do not drink any alcohol. That is probably a great way to live. My thinking on this matter is that there are hints that Jesus himself may have consumed wine. We also know that he turned water into wine at a wedding! Science has found that consuming red wine in moderation of course, has several health benefits.

We chatted about a lot of things. When we saw a parent with a young boy (about age 4), I mentioned how quickly time has flown by! I can still remember how our son looked at that age! He is now 23, a college graduate and working as a Fitness Together trainer.

Our daughter is now age 20, in her third year of college, majoring in Communications and minoring in Theatre. Her "debut" in the movie industry came out this month! She appears as an "extra" in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie! She can be seen in the first five minutes of the film in the background. She has had several friends who have seen the movie call her and tell her that they saw her in the scene! Her non-speaking role as a secretary in the office scene is just a small start. However, she has dreams of accomplishing much more either in that industry or perhaps another.

As my husband and I reminisced about our lives and how our children have grown to be wonderful, responsible adults, we just had to express how grateful to God we are!

Happy 2008 everyone!

P.S. Our last day of 2007 was a sad time, too. We found out that our older dog has kidney disease and it's only a matter of days, perhaps a week or so, until she may need to be euthanized. She has lived a long life...14 1/2 years. However, it's so difficult to hear that her days left with are are so few. She has been a loving pet member of our family for all those years...the years during which our kids have grown up. It's hard to hear the inevitable.

Happy New Year, Christine! I'm glad I found your blog in 2007.

Sorry to hear about your dog - that is so tough when our pets are sick.

How exciting for you and your daughter! I'm always encouraged to hear of authentic Christians being in the media business.

Thanks Neil! I'm so glad that I found your blog too!

Heidi (our older dog) is doing better. The Vet provided some meds and they are working. She is eating and drinking lots of water again. We are grateful for the extra time we are getting with her.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments about my daughter. She knows what a difficult business acting is...but she will pursue commercials and acting roles as best she can. She only needs one more booking to be eligible to join SAG! (Screen Actors Guild)

It's expensive to join, but the benefits are much greater when getting a commmercial or acting role.

She will appear (hopefully - if that portion of the movie doesn't end up on the cutting room floor!) as an extra in another upcoming film called "Deep in the Valley." We think that it will be in theaters sometime in February. I've got a real, typical "Hollywood" story to share about the day she was being filmed with several other young women in a pool scene. I was very pleased with the choice she made in the matter. You could probably guess what the director asked some of the girls to do in that scene...

Happy New Year Christine.

I have missed quite a few of your posts while I have been on vacation, but I intend to try to read at least some of them in the coming days.

Glad that your dog is doing better, right after being sad to hear of her doing poorly.

Like Neil, I am also glad to have found your blog in 2007, and look forward to continuing to read it in 2008.

That's great about your daugther, I hope you'll keep us informed of what new roles she gets. My daughter keeps begging to see Alvin and the Chipmunks so I'm sure I'll see her... even if I don't know it... but still, how exciting for you (and her).

I am also excited about this new year. My wife has been working at Wal-Mart for almost 7 years, but fell and broke a bone between her ankle and foot, and so was out of work for around 5 months. Sounds terrible I know, BUT, because of this she got the opportunity to get a job as a teachers aide at our Church's Pre-School, which will be so much better for her. Even the doctor was thrilled with the news since it means she won't be on her feet in one spot for 8 hours a day 3 to 4 days a week. It is a little less money, and yet, I think, it's a great blessing.

Hi Matt,

Welcome back! Sometimes it's good to take a vacation from blogging!

Thanks for your kind words about our dog, my blog, and my daughter's movie "debut." If you take your daughter to see "Alvin" look for my daughter (see her in my profile pic) in the office scene. She will be behind the actress speaking at the time. She appears about 5 min. into the movie.

I'm so sorry to hear that your wife broke a bone! Praying for quick and complete healing! Sometimes a job change works out for the better. What a blessing that she will now be working for the Church Pre-School!
