I read the Kupelian article> It was quite penetrating and insightful. To me the explanation of the adulation of Obama is the guilt factor. As Kupelian points out in an aside, if Obama were white, with all his past (and present) associations and the various other pieces of dirt attaching to him, he would not stand a chance of being elected.
There is another factor: Rush Limbaugh today has drawn attention to an article in the Wall St Journal by Fouad Ajami, "Obama and the Politics of Crowds" where he parallels Obama with the charsima politics of both the Middle East and Africa, which has been so hynotic, but so disastrous in those regions.
